Texans 2015 Draft Visits Tracker

Charlie Capmbell has been riding the Gurley to Houston train for a while now...

Yeah, so has Walt. I'm damn near 100% that Rick uses those guys for smoke screens. It's smart. #16 could be the pivot point for Gurley, so trade up with us to get him.

seriously though, we do have higher priorities than RB. It's just that if the WRs and DEs/OLBs I had graded as 1st round worthy were all gone then I'd be eyeing Gurley next. And I wouldn't object to trading back a few spots to get an extra pick or two either.

Agreed. Plus when you look at it, all the really good RBs should be gone by round 2. Everything after that will most likely be a guy that's competing with Alfred Blue.

I know a lot of people will disagree with going with a RB so early but let's put it in this type of perspective....when we don't have Arian, we lose. And over the last couple of years we've seen that there are going to be games where we don't have Arian due to a groin or hamstring.

I believe that O'Brien knows our team is a running team and I believe he is going to emphasize that, and help keep Arians carries down to preserve him over the course of the season. If that is to happen, you better have a damn good 2nd string game changer in there. Blue's good but not THAT good.

So we need another Arian. Now where did we pick him and who else was picked before him that was better?

I've never understood this line of reasoning. Just because we lucked out on an undraftted FA, doesn't mean it will happen again. Tejano has a good point, our record without Foster is NOT good. A lot of guys are advocating grabbing a CB to replace JJo next year, this could be a similar situation with Foster as he is getting older, makes a fair amount of money, and he's been pretty nicked up over the past few years.

I don't know if the Texans would agree with that. I don't. There may be good RBs all the way through the 4th round. And that has a lot to do with both the depth of the position and how NFL teams value the position. You can make a case that there are a dozen either starting RBs or guys that would fit in a tandem situation. I don't know how many the Texans like, but they all won't be gone by the 2nd round.

But, I do agree with finding another RB to go with Arian and Blue.

I agree with that too. I'm just saying, the Arian Foster Game Changing type RBs will be gone by round two. There most definetly will be some really good ones in rounds 3 and lower which if we go that round I can't get mad at either. I will not be upset if I see that we passed on a RB in round 1 and grabbed a David Johnson out of Northern Iowa, Malcolm Brown out of Texas, or the kids from Boise St. or Minnesota. Those guys make us a team with RB depth.
But guys like Gurley, Gordon, Abdullah are guys that can come in and eventually replace Foster which I can see why they would draft such a RB.

I agree with that too. I'm just saying, the Arian Foster Game Changing type RBs will be gone by round two.

This assertion would make so much more sense if it was anyone but Arian.

And Arian is not the only starting high quality RB to get past the 2nd round - Frank Gore, Jamaal Charles, DeMarco Murray and Alfred Morris come to mind.

I'm biased, but I really like Ameer Abduallah as a potential pick in the 3rd or even as high as the 2nd round.

Is Arain Foster not a game changer?

Arian might not be the only starting high quality RB to get past the 2nd round but it's just my opinion that anyone outside of the 3 RBs I mentioned are not Frank Gore, Jamaal Charles, Demarco Murray.

I've never understood this line of reasoning. Just because we lucked out on an undraftted FA, doesn't mean it will happen again.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than... truth of the matter, Kubiak was very good. Our best offensive team had two first rounders, Andre & Duane Brown. We acquired our starting center for a 6th round pick, used a third for our RT, & I don't even remember what we gave for Brisiel.

A QB drafted in the third round, TE we got in the fourth... & that team could put points on anybody. lots of them.

I had hoped we had that kind of ability on the defensive side of the ball when we got Wade. You look at all the great defenses... Bears, Ravens, Bucs, yeah you had your stars, but you also had lesser known players playing at a high level. We need a James Harrison.. UDFA for the defense.

I hear he's got size and speed. Will somebody fill me in on the 2 most important questions about a receiver?
1. Does he run a correct pattern? 2. Does he have good hands?

Read somewhere Stephone Anthony visited with Texans twice

Coincidentally enough I just played around with a mock idea yesterday that had Strong at 16 & Anthony at 51. Needles to say but, glad to hear about these visits.

1. Yes. He needs some work sure, but he's not just a go-route guy either. He's a big, strong kid who knows how to shield a defender off the ball and angle his long arms for a reception.

2. Absolutely.

Yes it's just one play, but he caught that. And it's something he does a lot of. He can hop and high-point back shoulder throws and make critical redzone/chain moving receptions. I believe he would make a wonderful young target opposite Hopkins.

Strong also has concussion issues.

Can one of you experts put one of these together for 2016? Pretty fun to look back and see that although we didn't visit with K Jo we still drafted him in the first.

However we did grab quite a few people we visited with!
