Texan fans in DFW - '08 watch parties

Alright, so Bennett is going to every game now. I was listening on the drive home and man I thought I was going to be sick. Good game, next week the Lions and we saw them give the other team points today.

Yeah - you missed the ending. What station were you listening on? My kid wanted to head out with the final 3 seconds and I told him the game was not over yet. (Texans still needed to finish it.)

Thanks for coming out and "lil Tex" did well for 3 quarters - kudos on pulling dad duties very well.

Speaking as one w/o kids he was great this past week. Here is hoping we handle a team that we should win the game and probably pretty easily.

Alright DFWr's we have an afternoon game coming up - any nominations for this Lion whuppin'? See post #12 for previous suggestions. I'd like to try Wizard's at some point, but doesn't have to be this afternoon game.

Probably a Mrs AT. tag a long week, we just looked at the options and she had no preference, so wizards is ok for us.

Where the HECK are all the DFW Texan fans? You friggin bandwaggoners.

Wizards was a good place, seems like a KC homebase (got to see them cry againsr the Titans this week - good lawd, can some one stop them?) Maybe if we had our fans venture out of their casa, we'd show up in force as well.

wizards seesm fine as a place, but is already KC's home. I know there are plenty of Texans' fans throughout the Metroplex. every Texans at cowboy game has strong representation at the games, but we need to increase the enthusiam for coming out.

That said, for next week give me a couple of days as I may take a weekend trip

Alright, so grinch is in, A-Tx, you in? Getting about halfway into the season, we can start hitting some of the top repeats or try something new. Anyone with a preference?

I liked Flips and Kerrs (though I don't think I want to mess with Kerrs since Dallas has a home game and coming in on 183 will be a nightmare).

If we are looking for some place new the Frankie's Bar - uptown Dallas suggestion from post 13 sounds good.

Good call on avoiding the stadium area. I'm game for Frankie's - looks kinda uppity, but maybe it'll be a good spot - updated post 12. See y'all there.

I still am not sure either way, but i will show at Frankie's if around

Ozzo,

thanks for the call, but we were closer to home than Frankies when you got hold us. we stopped at a BWWs in Grand prarie to see the victory. I assume some the dallas crowd cleared, but after not seeing anyone and only a couple of Texans TVs we weren't feeling like we were going to enjoy ourselves.

That's cool. Figured by that time, y'all weren't gonna make it back out. We must have just missed you as grinch mentioned seeing y'all walk the other way (we thought you were looking for an alternat eparking spot).

Once the Cowboy crowd cleared out, wasn't too bad. Kinda smoky, but better service than our other downtown location.

We'll set it up for next week - y'all start thinking of where you wanna hit (or re-hit) for the Viking game.

I'm out this week unless we go to restaurant/bar instead of a bar/restaurant. So I'm in for Flips, Kerr's, Buffalo Wild Wings or anything similar. I will have the little fan with me.

I liked Flips, so that one has a vote for me. None of the other options bother me though.

Agree - I'm preferring the more restaurant / bar settings. Flips is fine with me as well. Updated post #12.

If y'all think of other places we haven't tried yet, make sure to post those up as well. This "random spot" location seems to be working pretty well so far. (If we could just get some more to come out).

Is everyone out this weekend?

Sorry out about last weekend, the little one spent all day letting me see what he had for breakfast and lunch.

yeah, we thought it was a kid issue. I am thinking that I need to go to a place close to save on driving as i have a ton of grading/writng that needs to get done.

Of course, which really means i will be sick of working by Sunday, so if there is a meeting I'll show up.

I'm game for a meetup if y'all are, though I'm not sure where this time. Most likely first person to suggest the place gets to choose.

....BWW popped in my head as I wrote that.

We did Irving last time, I think I need to bail out for this one - some Daddy-do's I need to take care of.

Potentially out next week due to camping and then possibly turkey day / week (heading to Houston) - so tentative for me and the upcoming games.

Alright guys, I'm a "possibly" this Sunday - depends how I come back from camping. I'll leave it your hands this week if you wanna do a GTG.

I have enough control of work if y'all are up to meeting this week. What about Ker's to keep it simple since there is some question for you?

Thar's fine with me, but being a noon game by the time I get back from camping - consider me about 30% chance of being there. I can guarantee a next week GTG though, before the t-day weekend kicks in the following week.

I will no my availability tomorrow morning. If Ozzo can't make it, Ker's in Arlington works for me if you don't want to go out to Irving. But I'll post more tomorrow.

Wow, I just saw my misspelling from last post. I'm in and I can make it to Ker's in Irving if that is where we want to go.

Hopefully we look good with this new run of division games.

Your plan works to go to Irving if Zach gives us a yes or Arlington if there is a no.

Well, considering - hope y'all had a decent time. Y'all up for this week's noon game v. the Browns (perhaps a W?) If so, where would y'all like to go - keeping in mind the Cowboys also play at noon and they'll be in Texas stadium.

Not too bad a time all things considered.

What is easy for you to get to with Texas stadium traffic?

Actually, maybe I hit it at a good time - but even when we did Ker's every week last year, I was able to get in with no issue.

I'm coming from the NE side, so perhaps you tenured locals can better inform of stadium traffic.

Last year, the Ker's exit for me was about one before the traffic got bad when I went through town and flips on 114 is fine also.

Overall, though I have very little feel for what it is like from your part of the metroplex as our sunday trip is really the only regular time I leave Arlington/Mansfield.

Yeah, I never really hit traffic, the Ker's exit was good for me as well. I never really experienced any major traffic game day last year or any time this year so far.

So, basically - I'm open to wherever this week, just wanted to take into account the same game time. Buffalo Joe's in post #12 seems interesting, but not sure how much of a hike that is for y'all and if their "family friendly". They look like a BWW place. Doesn't have to be this time, but perhaps one more spot to try.

It is a haul, but between weather and general apathy towards the Texans, i might want to make the long drive this weekend. Not really going to want to make in week 15 at 4-10 or whatever the heck or record will be. Two place in that same area Big Johnson and Twin Peaks you guys can pick either one.

Well, Big Johnson's number has been disconnected and all websites had the same number. Twin Peaks would be great for the view, but if kids show up (I'm not sure mine will go anymore this year, grinch what's your plans?)... and the few times I've been there, I don't recall big tv screens - but my attention may have been elsewhere. The location is more at the NW corner of 35E and 121 - not sure why google shoots it way up towards Lewisville Lake.

I just called Buffalo Joe's - they'll have the game on and said for the earlier games, they're not as packed with Cowboy fans as the afternoon or evening games.

So, from those - my preference choice would be:
- Buffalo Joes (more variety in menu)
- Twin Peaks (close 2nd, wouldn't mind going there)
- Big Johnsons (assuming they're still open)

Buffalo Joes works for me. I may refuse to go to Big Johnson's to stop Mrs. AT from making a ton thinly disguised references all game long.

Think with the Monday night game we were out anyway, but I am having to make a previously unplanned trip to Beaumont early next week.

I'm sitting this one out - the one time I can stay at the house at watch the Texans. A-Tx may be adventurous though - I haven't heard from many others this season.

We'll defintely be back in the swing next week though.

Okay boys and girls (if any) time to ramp it up for the upcoming GB noon game. Any suggestions or repeat of previously viewed spots?
