Texan fans in DFW - '08 watch parties

blah blah blah.... and when y'all come out to watch a game with us, then you can have the right to be a hobie... I mean an ass.
:shades:

Last season we stuck with Ker's - good place, but chicken every Sunday was a bit much. So far we haven't had an overwhelming response with the DFW Texan fans, so our tiny little group is trying to find some good, central locations thankyouverymuch.

Now, after that RUDE interruption (just messin)... Called the MAT - they're showing the game and are kid / family friendly. See y'all at this location for the 1st game 'o the season.

Sorry, I'll be in NYC over the weekend.

With my school schedule working the way it is i might be staring at working most weekends sadly. Second half of the sason might better and I'll want to view us hopefully making a playoff push.

We'll be around - keep checking this thread as we start our quest for the holy grail.. I mean quest for the ultimate centrally located sports bar.

... and now, for something completely different.

I am going to post the location on the "other" boards and I will see you on sunday.

I found out today that a guy know from an another message and a fantasy footbal league, manages a place in Grapevine right off 114. he has Sunday ticket and 16 TVs through the restruant and will do something for us if we come over his way. Thinking maybe next game (2nd) Let me know what you think.

Sounds good and good location. Let's hit that one next for the Baltimore game. Good find, thanks.

Shoot, just come to Bubbas, I know they will be showing it there and there will be Texans fans there to boot....even if 1 or 2 are planning on doing some :hobie: during the half time show....

Anyone meeting in North Dallas for the game? Possibly Plano/Frisco/McKinney area?

I'm heading from the NE, A-Tx from the West... the fans I've seen posted here in the past, we're all sides of the metroplex. Come on along for our tour of Dallas sports bars this year.

McKinney Tavern is a little far for me, about 45 minutes, but I'll try to make it out.

How does it work for Texans games in that place? Do they give us one screen isolated from the rest of the crowd near the bathrooms since we're the enemy?

Actually, we have not been there yet, so we will get what we can stake out.

Overall, one of the reason we are trying to move around is to find a happy medium on the drives. Ozzo did a map of the people who attended some last year and quite honestly you could have not spread us more out without trying.

I know one thing though there are more Texans fans around these parts. Every cowboys game has a good Texans representation and we need to find away get some of those guys coming to watch. It would be great for us have several places for people to choose.

I asked them when I called if they'll have the game on - they'll have them all on. Asked if it gets pretty packed and his response was only when the Cowboys are playing... so I think we'll be good.

McKinney tavern nice place with fun atmosphere, but the service was worse than the Texans performance. One waitress, who was overwhelmed.

She was like a Mario Williams - all over the place with very little help.

Upcoming is an afternoon game (pending Ike's decision) and I'm camping this weekend - I should be able to make it, but if for some crazy reason I don't - it'll be due to a camping hangover.

Y'all be thinking of the 3rd game location - gotta be a good one since it's against Tennessee.

With game moving to Monday, and not available on sunday ticket, looks like the titans game is our next meeting. do we want to just move place we agreed to for this week to the 21st?

BTW, if someone does have a way or place to watch it in DFW speak up and I can probably be there.

Cool with me for the Titan game, I was thinking that as well. I'm not up for fighting the cowboy herd.. cowbay as Hoth says..., and if I'm gonna watch a Monday night game (that I can't just walk a few paces to bed when the game is over)... I'd better be taking off Tuesday.

Confirmed - Flips Grill in Grapevine for the Titan game. (friggin Texans better show up for this game).

We can go ahead and start thinking about / agreeing on the next locale for the following Jag game. BWW or Ten Sports Grill perhaps?

I am ok with either place.

Bad game good experience at flips...assuming that it is a return to location at some point. also, a couple of new faces. Even if you are not the posting type we appreciate you gus showing up and making a fun experience.

Yep -Flips moved towards the top of the list, a definte return. Thank your FFL commish for us.

Let's do Ten Sports this go around. I don't think Hoth is joining us till Oct, so perhaps we could do BWW in his honor next game.

Dallas has an afternoon game, but I'll confim they'll have the Texans game on. So, Ten Sports for the upcoming Jags game. Time to celebrate a win.

I'm out this week, but I look forward to weeks to come.

hope to see ya soon and dont't be shy about making any suggestions for a meeting place.

Sounds good for both weeks and look to welcoming Hoth back into the fold.

Confirmed - 10 sports will show the game and is family friendly. At least "before midnight" but I think we'll be outta there by then.

I would like to go, but I am rolling in a chair these days. There are some decent places around Mansfield that I used to go to that I could suggest.

Shoot, I'd pick you up, but you're waaaaay on the other side of Dallas from me. Post up your suggestions if you'd like, just as long as they're somewhat centered on the metroplex since we're at all points of this area.

I used to watch the game at No frills on Matlock as I live in way south Arlington. this week is probably not good as Mrs. AT is planning to go and we may not be headed straight home afterwards, but PM at some point so we can figure on how to either get you to some games or get close enough for ya.

Overall, there will be a couple of weeks where we either don't meet or I will have enough writing/grading to do where the hour or so time saved driving will be important to me.

Alright, I'm back in. I'll see ya'll at noon.

Texaninlild if you live near 820 and 287, I could swing by and pick you up. PM me if you are interested.

I really appreciate the thought guys, but I am probably not ready for an outing. Plus I am never allowed to drink again. Brain injuries suck.

Not too shabby of a place, save for all the smoking Saint fans - glad they could get so excited off beating the Niners (now if we could just beat someone)... If I hear "who dat" one more friggin time.....

So, BWW next week? Hoth, you in?

yeah, "old" stomping grounds deserve a visit.

I liked Ten Sports Grill, good menu overall, but if it is Saints heavy that's not going to be much fun.

Just checking are we going ker's or BWW???

I say the BWW in Irving that just opened, that Hoth mentioned in post #10. Close to 635 and N. MacArthur.

I am going to need a couple of days before thinking about next week. After seven seasons of this, I finally think enough is enough, but I am sure that I will settle down after a spell.

Funny, cause I was thinking the same thing. Bad / good thing - this game was on local tv... misery loves company. I did like BWW though, that place can get a repeat business.

We'll play it by ear as the week progresses.

Ah ha! So, you wanna venture out again do ya? Glutton for punishment? I'm thinking of venturing out as well - cause sure enough, I don't go and I'll miss their FIRST win of the season (how sad is that).

How 'bout we just head to Ker's (perhaps to bring some mojo back and make it a little easier as well)?

... and where the HECK is Hoth and the rest of the DFW Texan fans. I mean A-Tx is nice and all, but just us showing up all the time... the patrons are starting to talk.

:toast2:

Which Ker's are ya'll talking about? I can't guarantee I will be there, but I can try. Always up for more pain. You have to be to be a Texan.
