Take aways from the Panthers game

Might as well, this season is a wash anyways. That’s what most of the members on here suggested.
Well, it's not like Scottie showed to be a big drop off from the other rb's on the team. Whether we expect to win or not, Scottie Phillips has looked good enough during training camp and preseason that there is no reason he can't get a fair share of regular season carries.

Caserio reworked Mercilus’ contract this offseason to void it after this year and remove yet another bad OB contract off the books in the future.
That's standard practice .
Teams give a player some money up front; the player becomes Unrestricted FA.
It's a mutual agreement.
The player is free to negotiate with any team he wants.

It's not unlike Cooks, who also restructured to have his final year of the contract voided.

If the two keep up with their current numbers, they both could see a bigger payday ahead.

Don't forget that neither has any guaranteed money left next year on their old contract(s)

Oh Caserio did something very smart and it's SOP.

Got it.

It hasn't been happening around these parts until lately.

It didn't happen because OB was buying his own fool gold thinking he can "win big".

Kevin Walter had taken a paycut to play for Kubiak.

Smart for what?

Mercilus has no guaranteed money left.

In fact, if Mercilus gets hurt and can't play, he still gets the restructuring bonus in his pocket and NC with nothing to show for.

Caserio restructured the deal so he could get out from underneath the deal after this yr.

Mercilus was going to be here this ye regardless. Would've been here next yr too without the restructure

Like I said.
No more guaranteed money.
He can simply be cut after this year.

Out of all the mediocre RB, just play the guys who are the best pass blockers and try to help Mills that way, since the difference in their rushing productivity isn't really significant.
I'm kinda liking this idea.

LOL

Watching the game again (rain) & I've got to think what an idiot Matt Ruhl was going for it on 4th down at the Texans goal line.

Big momentum swing for the Texans. If we were a more talented team we could have really taken over that game.
