That's great! I cant stand that idiot.
Daym. Russel Wilson's interview here is phenomenal.
It is like that ending didn't just happen. Takes the blame for the play - says Coach Carroll apologised to them, but it isn't Coach's fault. Classy fellow.
I would have been at least choked and down - he seemed pretty chipper and ready to go again.
Not as dumb of a play call as I originally thought. They only had one timeout left. If Lynch doesn't get in on the next play, they have to take their last timeout. That makes 3rd down a must pass situation since they can no longer stop the clock. Trying a pass play on 2nd not as bad of a decision as I initially thought.
The big "if" in that scenario is if Lynch doesn't make the yard in two attempts. He was moving the pile the whole game. Odds were very good he'd score.
I agree. Odds were very good that he'd walk into the end zone on the very next year play. But let's hypothetically say the Pats stop him for no gain and the Seahawks call a timeout with ~20 seconds left. It's 3rd down and no timeouts, you'd actually consider running the ball again on 3rd down? That's extremely risky.
I agree that the call was too cute. They should have tried to push Lynch in once more before burning the t.o. and regrouping, but that doesn't make this the polyps-inducing call many fans are making it out to be. It wasn't Chris Webber. In fact, Butler isn't getting enough credit for making a jail break steal of the ball there. He's any more lax on that play and the ball likely hits the ground and things just roll on. Fans are just a combination of so blindly emotional, never wrong in their critical hindsight, and get so wrought with the wrath of the crowd around them that they're calling this the worst call in the history of the word "call".
It'll calm down and they should remember it was in fact a great super bowl.

Seattle has long had some of the best fans in the NFL even back in the ground Chuck days . They also have the loudest and biggest home field advantage . Seattle biggest advantage is they have female cheerleaders .
I tried to tell him that long ago. Told him Seattle has had a strong fanbase since the Jim Zorn/Steve Largent days.
....his mind is made up, don't bother him with facts.

It was such a great game,
Shame it turned into a "Seattle lost it" vs. New England won at the end.
Man, that catch...

Titans\Rams was the best Superbowl to me. This one comes in at a close second place.

Best Superbowl game of all time? At least in my own life of watching football definitely.
The real genius on that last play is this:
After Lynch was stopped on 1st down, there was around a minute left in the game. Everyone wanted Belichick to call timeout, me included. By not calling timeout, the clock kept running and this meant the Seahawks were more likely to pass so if it wasn't successful, they could try a run on 3rd down and still have time for a 4th down play. If the Pats had called timeout that would have left Seattle enough time to run it on the rest of the downs and have enough timeouts to conserve the clock if they were short.
Everyone indulge me for sec. Go back and tell me what was the first thing that came to your mind when Wilson threw that interception.
Mine was "Why didn't he hand it off to Lynch"?
To me, it was just that simple. Over-analyzing it just makes it complicated. When it doesn't need to be.
By the same token, if the Seahawks had scored on that play NOBODY would have asked why didn't they hand it off to Lynch.
Game of inches, man, and mistakes are always second-guessed.
While true DB, I'm with Marcus on this one...For me it was a foregone conclusion that they were going to run the ball with either Lynch or Wilson. When they got to the 1, I actually started calculating how much time was going to be left for the Patriots to mount a drive. It just never entered my mind that they would actually chance a TO and throw the ball...
One thing I wondered is why did Butler get out of the end zone instead of taking the knee for a touchback. Good thing it didn't turn into a negative.
It did for him....go find that pic that shows the gruesome nature of his broken arm in that game.... and as far as the team, it hurt them in the long run. Edelman's go ahead TD was over his replacement and they picked on him all 4th qtr......
That was Lane for the Seahawks early, not Butler for the Pats late
edit: I see you edited... nvrmnd
Yeah, hero to chump in a matter of seconds...

He was so close to the end zone marker he probably didn't want to risk kneeling and accidentally getting a safety. Also in that situation your immediate reaction is to run forward.
