After the Senior Bowl I thought I would put out a mock and I would love to get y'aals thoughts. I will also do a mock after the combine and probably another 1-2 the last 2 weeks before the draft after most of the pro days are done. This is what I would draft, not Caserio/Ryans.
1-25 Grey Zabel - South Dakota St. - Big, tough, mobile that can stand up to the NT's that gave Patterson so many problems last year. Booker/Jackson are gone.
2-58 Darius Alexander- Toledo- Big guy that can play 0 tech to all the way to wide nine. Looks like a superior athlete for his size. He's a large human being that can really move. Reminds me of a young Chris Jones. If Savion Williams or Jake Bech are there then that's my pick
3-89 Jaylin Noel WR Iowa St. A bigger version of Tank Dell. Gets off the line with ease, has good hands, quick in and out of breaks. Is always open. Can play some outside and in the slot. If you like Tank you'll like this guy.
4-127 Brashard Smith- RB SMU- Fast game breaking speed a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.. If you like Achane and Keaton Mitchell a couple of years ago you'll love this guy. Catches the ball and runs routes like a WR. A real threat when matched up against LB/S. A big play waiting to happen. Runs hard with good pad level. I think he's a great fit in a WCO like Achane is. He's a little undersized at 5'10 200 lbs for pass pro but he's not terrible at it because the effort is there. Coaching should be able to clean some of this up because of his effort level. Even if my eval is wrong he provides great value on ST's as a KR/PR/Gunner. Well worth 4-127.
5-167 Jackson Hawes - TE Ga. Tech- Best Blocking Te in the draft IMHO. This is my response to all of the Texans TE sucking at blocking. Looked really good blocking at Sr. Bowl and although not fast he's got good hands and made a great 1 handed catch during the Sr. Bowl. He's more of an outlet TE than a down the seams guy.
7-243 Shlio Sanders- S Colorado- Just a solid safety who does everything well but nothing outstanding, smart player. If Ward gets hurt again Sanders can go in and play at a decent level. He wont get burned deep and is a solid tackler. Should be a good ST's guy.
I think they sign Joe Noteboom over Will Fries in FA because of his knowledge of the system and is able to play LT (What he got paid to do originally) LG/RG. He's a great athlete who has had some injury issues.
FA signings- WR's Demarcus Robinson and Tylan Wallace, Fast, undervalued, can block and provides ST's value. Robinson knows the offense
FA- Isiah Rodgers, a good solid cover CB that while not great can fill in and your defense wont be hurt. Can play mainly outside but some slot.
