So, what’s there to look forward to now?

The problem with Kubes as is the problem with O'Brien, is they are too predictable when it matters most. Kubes with his trademark draw play on 3rd and long. EVERYONE knew it was coming and if we as fans know it's coming, I'm sure people who get paid to know these things are more than prepared for it. With O'Brien, Miller up the gut on 3rd and short when we absolutely have to have a first down. We all know it's coming, yet somehow, it still happens and the same result ensues every time.

It's certainly frustrating to watch game after game.

It took Kubiak 5 yrs to understand clock mgmt. Remember the Colts game in Indy where Kubiak took a timeout and the Colts challenged the play during the TO and won, then proceeded to score a TD?

BTW, I'm all for firing BOB, I just dont get all of the Kubiak love on this MB. (He was an avg HC, kinda like BOB.) With all of that said nothing has a chance to change until Ricky is gone. (Not gonna happen)

I'm not a Kubiak loyalist. His history as Texans head coach is what it is. That said, notice he didn't have the same issues as Denver's HC. Perhaps his learning curve was in H-town. . . (like O'Brien's has been)

My previous take was in context of this franchise and its owner, not what I want to happen. We know Rick Smith is not going anywhere. He will be GM through a third HC.

I was just speculating what I perceive could happen based on this franchise's history. They are not happy with O'Brien. I would not be surprised to see a 3-13 season and O'Brien be given his marching orders.

And since McNair finds head coaching changes to be traumatic, I can see them keeping it "in house" by promoting RAC, keeping Vrabel as DC, and doing something like bringing in Kubiak as OC. It just seems like the Texans/McNair thing to do based on my own perceptions.

It's fine if folks disagree. It is opinions and the essence of conversation.

True, but, you cannot deny the simple fact that Kubiak has won three rings with his system and with him calling 100% of the offensive plays.

Where is O'Brien's skins on the wall for his offensive system?

The stark difference between them is simplicity vs. complexity. Kubiak's attitude of "we do this and we do it well" has had success. That is simply undeniable. The man, as an offensive mind, has a master plan, and he has continually implemented it well.

O'Brien, on the other hand, seems unable to even find a QB in four years. He was LUCKY that Rick Smith had a man-crush on Watson. He said it was Rick's call and he gave a thumbs up for it. But Watson is not running O'Brien's EP scheme in the same way that Brady does it. Watson improvises, makes plays outside of the scheme, and would succeed in just about any scheme based on his natural talents.

So, what’s there to look forward to now?

A last place schedule next year that would include a home game against Cleveland? Maybe get that game as the opener so we get to see our draft picks they got right off the bat.

It's the Cleveland Browns. Chances are they'll have drafted two big-time busts with our first and second-round selections. Just kidding. Or am I?

You know what would be kinda funny is if the Texans move up in the draft by trading a couple of our 3rd round picks for one of the Browns 2nd round picks, and it turns out that the 2nd round pick was the one the Texans traded to them in the Oswieler deal! :ahhaha:

7. What else can go wrong for the Texans? Hurricane, flood, J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus out, dumb statement by owner Bob McNair, players walk out, biggest phenom in franchise history sidelined for the year with a torn ACL in practice. And the season still has two months to go.One good thing: Deshaun Watson is real. And he’s spectacular. Even if he’s not going to be spectacular again till next fall.

OK that's a comment by Peter King, one of the top NFL journalist in the county out there today. That's the only thing owner Bob McNair will have to show any critics he may have when and if he chooses extend O'Brien's contract, but of course he may first want to detract King's comment about dumb statement.

is there a stud lt we can draft with our top pick. might be a blessing in disguise that watson got injured. we get our lt to pair with watson for the next 10 yrs

In the third round low chance for a stud, but perhaps some good role players
