Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Here's my question. If the NFL wins their appeal & increases the suspension to one year (along with any monetary fines), & Watson's team files a federal lawsuit, does Watson get to play while all the appeals & lawsuits are going on? Or, will he have to sit until it's all resolved?

They might try, but ultimate precendence may stop the courts from going down the same rabbit hole as they've taken before.

As far as a stay of the suspension, that would be unlikely because in previous case when the stay was granted, the courts found that suspensions were strickly under the venue of the League. The case for not granting the stay is only strengthened by the addition of the judge disciplinary officer in the process.

3 first round picks. Someone gave up 3 first round picks for this headache.
And I thought they would however I expected that team would have been Miami. I wonder what would happen if Miami had traded their three first rounds as the one in 2023 has been forfeited and it would have been ours.
Perhaps the NFL is doing something that will benefit the Texans.

Watson has not lost until the end result is greater than what he was offered by the nfl. Anything less is a net win.
He’s losing and continuing to lose. Paid many women off. Has to still pay Rusty probably to fight this case. Will likely end up with a huge fine by the NFL. His reputation will never recover. The NFL wants and will make an example out of him. The fact he has shown no remorse will not be favorable to him with the NFL.

The new CBA gives power to determine guild to a third party but if that guilt is determined then all power goes back to the NFL. The union agreed to this and have not shown a willingness to fight it beyond not wanting Goodel to be Judge and Jury. As one person on twitter pointed out the vast majority of players the union represent are making league minimal and will be out in 3 years. Issues like this affect a very small part of their members so odds are when it comes time to hash out a new deal this isn’t one of their priorities.
I agree and like I have said the majority of the players are interested in their own checking account and think that the CBA conduct section will never impact them.

Contract sticking in the owners throats is what I've been focused on. McNairs have to be hoping that in some manner DW will forfeit or have to return some of that contract. Even though Janice is not paying him now it still has to irk her that he wanted trade after she increased his pay.
What if Goodell fined him the same amount of money the Texans ended up paying him last year?

As I understand that was part of the original offer made by nfl. In my mind that is what is going to happen but I am hoping that in some manner the entire contract can be voided. I think everything is based upon how Goodell reads public perception. That's why I said he will take as much time to get that info as he can.

I think it is possible that the contract can be voided but not the trade and that would please everyone except the Watson's camp and some huff and puff and blow your house down from the NFL PA.

Watson ain’t winning anything in court. My guess is there are negotiations right now about what the Watson camp will accept as a fine and in games suspended to not hold this up in court. The 12 games plus $10M fine is the absolute lowest possible outcome here as it was published by many as NFL’s position but that may even be old news now based on lack of contrition by Watson camp. More likely something like a year, plus fine, plus no more trouble and settle every single lawsuit and contact every single massage therapist he ever used and fix any possible issues, plus donate a bunch of money to women’s rights groups/causes, plus therapy type stuff. He will get hammered. Watson doesn’t show a willgness to not sue he will likely get an indefinite suspension. Watson has been making nothing but foolish decisions this whole time- I think there is a decent chance he doubles down again and gets an indefinite suspension… JMO.

Are you saying that the NFL is discriminating against sexual predators? If so I applaud them. Although I expect Derrick to play the race card.
Discrimination isn't all about race. I didn't say anything, I just posted something off the twitterverse like all the other 3k replicated tweets in this thread. Nobody know what angle or direction this is going to take. Anyone who says they do are don't know just like they didn't know what Robinson ruling was going to be. Nobody on this board, not even the national insiders have a clue.
