Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

So you are saying that the Texans intervened with some advice that DW4 felt was gratuitous but turns out if he'd have followed their
advise he might not be in this mess he finds himself in now ?
So it was known by some in the Texans organization that DW4 was making appointments with masseurs with intentions of getting something
much more that a "rubdown" ?

Basically yeah.

I worked for Harris County in relations to the DA office. This is the normal process in which many times sexual assault claims are filed. Buzbee does not look to be joking or bluffing so if he does submit it, it will be in the State’s hands then.
But this procedure could still serve as a shakedown, right ?
In other words subsequent to the time the assault charges are filed with the DA could they be withdrawn by Buzzbutt & his clients if they score a big payday with DW4, or once they've been filed is it beyond the point of no return for the charges against DW4 to be withdrawn by the plaintiff ?

Once it’s filed with the DA, whether or not the plaintiff wanted to withdraw the charges, the state could still move forward to bring it in front of a grand jury. Because the plaintiffs have signed sworn affidavits Buzbee must have strong evidence if he is requesting a grand jury because they will not indict alone just on text messages. So basically tomorrow once he files it, it is in the states’ hands. He is willing to do this now it is not a shakedown. Because if the DA or grand jury decline to indict, it weakens his civil cases. He would not risk that if he didn’t have something in there that could bring charges. Watson should be sweating right now

In this type of situation, they better be very clever. Because if they truly knew about these accusations ahead of time and was helping him cover them up. Woe is them, they will be up turd creek right along with Watson.

A lot of people think they knew and is using it because he wants out. To top it off Watson team told the world he’s will to sit out and play hardball.

Texans response was game on.

Who knows, so many ways you can spin this nonsense.

Why does this crap has to happen to Houston.

yeah who knows at this point. It seems to me if the Texans knew of his antics rather than trying to cover them up they were trying to get him help. That is what good employers do. there is huge difference of knowing the company he is hanging around with vs what excess criminal activity he may be involved in. They may? Have known about those doors but How in the world would they know what went on behind them. there is no culpability on their part for that. This also could perhaps make Easterby’s role more understandable and could explain NC’s refusal to take calls to trade DW. If this is all true that is very applaudable. I’m pretty sure the Texans understand the penalties for covering up criminal activity and in no way would Mrs McNair risk everything to endorse it.

Had this come out earlier, the Texans could've signed Mitch Trubisky, who was drafted ahead of Deshaun and beat him in a head-to-head matchup in 2020. Trubisky is now a backup in Buffalo.

Go back and look at the wording. Buzbee said HPD contacted his office. HPD said they never had contact with Buzbee himself, they never said they didn’t contact his office

Yeah ok. HPD decided to come out and make a tweet refuting what he said based on a technicality of word play.

He lied or misspoke. There is no other option.

Culley spent 2017 with Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo, as his QB coach. It was only natural that both would seek each other out this crazy offseason.

And I told myself I would stay out of this thread. idonno:

Being a realist, Watson is damaged goods & his NFL career is over. The NFL has been working hard to attract more female fans & officials. Having an accused serial sex abuser as its star is not gonna fly. I'm sure Watson is on Goodell's mind right now at the breakfast buffet.

What a foolish young man.
I dunno what may have played a bigger role here: hubris or stupidity ?
Right about now I suspect Hardin & Buzzbutt are having a rather serious face-to-face ?
Can't enjoy all of those greenbacks if you are in the slammer ! And they can not only take what he currently has, but also whatever he might
earn and receive from here on out, right ?

In the mean time, Big Ben, Antonio Brown and Tyreek Hill continue to play. Sad to say, but if you're good at football, the league will get you back on the field.

The only thing that surprises me about this whole thing is why didn't they settle this out of the news.. The money to Hardin would have cleared this up. Maybe the agent is in over his head. If your in certain social circles you know more than what has been reported.......
There are times when a settlement opens a can of worm.

Short memories and profit making make the NFL what it is. Unless Watson goes to prison he'll probably being playing for someone in 2022. Perhaps even this coming season somewhere, though I doubt he'll be playing in 2021. Need to let those nagging consciences rest a bit.
Exactly.

I believe so. To me it’s more about arrogance and control. He solicited these women and wanted to make sure no one else was there at each visit.

I wonder when the Texans and the NFL in general became aware of this situation? Certainly before it broke on the media. Just seems odd that no other team seemed to be pushing for a trade, NC wasn’t even taking calls and the only camp sweating was DW’s. And wasn’t TT signed before the news broke...can’t remember. Could be the NFL has been involved for awhile?

Still highly questionable if there is a significant long or indefinite suspension.........or a conviction. It is just as likely that these are GMs of teams that have little or interest in obtaining a starting QB. Easy to speak of "interest"..............hard when it comes to pulling the trigger on a commodity with unknown limitations.
Agree, IMO I think it's hands off at least until the NFL completes it's investigation.

This thread is now 22 pages long but I bet if we were to poll the board "Do you think Watson is guilty of sexual assault" with the options being Yes, No, and Don't Know the majority would fall under the don't know category. But this thread reads like 12 Angry Men.

It appears that part of Watson's defense has been leaked. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ing-instagram-massage-therapists-to-covid-19/

So that will give the "jurors" of this court something more to pontificate.
I admit I may be a bit naive about using social media for prostitution.

But it would be interesting if that was the reason Watson went through social media. His statement there is actually helping the accusers. Saying it was to be a professional transaction. I don’t see how the defense can then frame this as a situation where sex was an expected part of the transaction.

Ben Roethlisberger and Robert Kraft say hi.

Robert Kraft’s case was nothing like this except it also involved a massage. Kraft was accused of hiring a hooker, Watson is accused of sexual assault.

Roethlisberger is much closer an example but there are a few key differences. First is that the accusations against him were fairly old at that point so a lot of evidence had been lost. The biggest difference though was the world at the time.

Since then we have had the Cosby scandal, the #metoo movement, the accusations against Trump and even the current accusations again Cuomo. The world views things like this in a much less forgiving light and even if he is innocent he’s going to have a hard road ahead.

Is that the Instagram of one of the complainants?
No. Just the first search result that pops up for me when I type in 'massage therapist'. There's at least several hundred other profiles that are similar. Seems relevant if some of these girls cleaned up their profiles around the time of making the accusation. Not sure if they'll be able to figure that out, but I'm sure they'll try.

Eagles said today they are interested in trading for him but are currently just waiting this out.

Absolutely, but consider this. At 3-1s, 2-2s and a couple of starters, there were only a few teams in a position to make that deal. But if all of a sudden the Texan's are selling damaged goods, there might be a lot more teams that are interested in a pennies on the dollar we'll take our chances deal.

Here is the situation Watson finds himself in. Either he thought he was hiring a licensed professional in which case the actions he is accused of were completely inappropriate. And if he did think he was hiring a real therapist why go through Instagram and why so many different ones.

Or he thought he was hiring a sex worker were sexual acts would be part of package so to speak but if that’s the case he said he was using recommendations of family and friends and he still was committing illegal acts. Not on the level of sexual assault of course but still looks really bad.

Either way I don’t see how he comes out of this undamaged unless it’s somehow proven that all of these women were lying and since we know they at least had contact with him the only way really to prove that is video footage of each one showing nothing happened.

Yeah I see why he retained Hardin as fast as he could.

Mike Tyson was sent to prison for just one woman's accusation during the prime of his career. Being the number of women involved here, Watson may soon end up in prison, too!
I would have thought Buzbee would have filed criminal charges if he thought he had evidence to prove a criminal offense. I doubt he did at the time. Even the new cases, he’s filing civil offenses, where the burden of proof is much lower.

Judging people based on accusations alone is a practice from very dark times. We have a legal system to convict and punish wrongdoers.

It's not the NFL's job to determine whether Watson's or Kraft's actions are worse.

serial addiction with increasing boldness when he started getting away with it. When one called him out the others jumped on board but this business is not designed to be investigated without yielding only tentative circumstantial evidence....from both sides.

I’m not sure what your point is but I’m amazed that you would say hiring a hooker for a consenting relationship is as bad as forcing a woman in a sexual assault. I’m not saying Watson is guilty or not guilty I’m saying what he is being accused of is worst than what Kraft was accused of and yeah I stand by that.

Oh and by the way NFL doesn’t have to wait for Watson to be proven guilty or not. Hell even if he is proven innocent they can punish him just for the embarrassment he has caused them. They’ve done it to players before for much less.

I don’t have Instagram. What are the results when you search “licenses masseuse”

I don't see how it could have been opened any wider. Buzbee said he offered to do this without publicity and was surprised at the arrogance and dismissive attitude he was met with.
Nothing to stop other plaintiffs to suddenly appear after a settlement with the original case.

That's so obvious it shouldn't require stating. But while an accusation remains an accusation, nobody should be punished for anything.

The rest of your post, glorifying the NFL's power to arbitrarily dish out punishment for whatever unproved allegations they feel like is where we disagree.

I’m not saying Watson should be punished nor am I “glorifying the NFL’s power” I am stating a fact of what they can and have done in the past. The CBA gives them the power to do so and that power is completely separate from the court system.

There's profiles like the one below for 'licensed massage therapist' (as well as profiles similar to the first one I posted). Somehow I doubt that DW would have contacted her because she appears to be legit. But I'm just guessing.
