I suggested we try and trade for McCoy early this year when he was the #3 qb and people laughed.
Probably the same people who think Fitzpatrick is doing really good to keep his job.

My point is why don't we have the foresight to sign before we have to trade something to get him.
The Redskins got the same bargain, with veteran quarterback Colt McCoy. Per a source with knowledge of the contract, McCoy gets a base salary of $735,000 and a signing bonus of $65,000. The deal carries a cap number of $635,000.
With only $65,000 guaranteed, theres a chance McCoy, a third-round pick of the Browns in 2010 who spent 2013 with the 49ers, wont make the 53-man roster. Theres also a chance hell be the No. 2 quarterback, in the event the Redskins decide to trade Kirk Cousins.
What did we pay for Fitz, Mallet, and Savage?
This front office reacts only when it hits them in the face and sometimes not even then.
Do you think they know they have a SLOW team.
LBs, secondary, QBs, OL weak?
No depth.
Or are they drunk on their own Koolaid
Fiedo was WIDE open over the middle when Fitz decides to hit Andre where he can barely keep his toes in.He's like OD's talentless clone.
I go back and forth between "How could we not find a better option than this guy?" and "How is this guy keeping Fiedo and Griffin behind him on the depth chart?"
Then Fiedo holds or pulls a False-Start and Griffin drops a pass and I'm like "Well, there's that".
My rooting / not rooting for Fitz will never have an effect on the amount of suck he can produce.I don't know.
It's fun bashing Fitzpatrick & all, but we're going into week 9 & sooner or later, we're going to have to accept it. Either we get behind him & pray he'll be better than he's ever been in his career, or we start rooting to lose just to replace him with a guy we know nothing about.
Let's see how it works out with Mallet & Savage before we kick ourselves for not picking up Colt McCoy.
It'd be great to put Mallett and / or Savage out there. Fitzpatrick's ceiling has been reached and it isn't good. We tried Keenum out and didn't work. We should do the same with Mallett and Savage and find out what we have before making personnel decisions for next year.
Fitz's ceiling would be be about 6-2 or 7-1 had the team not imploded around him...nice try, though![]()
Brother? Cousin? Wife??? I know you are related to Fitz but not the how
Just an unbiased, experienced football mind here. I will reserve any further pro-Fitz comments until after the Eagles game. I have a strong feeling that he and Texans will come up BIG and pull this one out.

Sorry, but I think you're anything but unbiased. If Fitz was even a decent QB, not great but fair, he wouldn't be on his 5th team in 10 yrs

That' because QB's on bad teams are often scapegoats...look how the Titans are doing now? The Bills with EJ Manuel (though they are better with Orton). When Fitz was on the Bills, their defense was horrendous - the Titans are just terrible top to bottom - even with top pick Jake Locker. They were much more competetive with Fitz at the helm. Things have to be analyzed in the context of perspective. To expect Ryan Fitzpatrick to overcome two horrific 24 point team collapses and late fumbles by WR's in back to back games against good opponents in really pretty crazy.

I think you nailed it about Fitzpatrick's ceiling. This is the best that we can expect from him. He's a classic average game manager, and can succeed if he doesn't make mistakes and the rest of the team plays good football.
He will not consistently put a team on his back and will them to victory. You can maybe hope that he has one comeback win a season, as evidenced by his decade in the league.
hmmm...I recall a fumble at the end of one loss to end a final drive...and then a really stupid interception during a 24 point meltdown to end a half....those are not signs of a great QB.
The truth is that Fitzpatrick is having a career year. This is as good or better than he's ever played. Just as 2004 was Carr's best. Neither is, was, or will be good enough.
You need to specify Texans receivers though.I challenge Fitz to a 3 td game.

But if you think that great QB's don't ever lose a game because of their individual play or throw a stupid interception...
Fitzpatrick is just terrible.
Outstanding and informative 1st post. lol
Welcome, I think
Some of us have been beating this drum on deaf ears for a good while now.
Some of you have been beating that drum before the guy ever even took a snap for the Texans. Thankfully, those who make decisions about these things are far more rational and objective.

In other news, Fitzpatrick still in at QB for Houston. Texans fans sigh...
Fitzy keeps apologizing during the post game interviews that he needs to improve and get better. I am tired of him apologizing for his subpar performance and poor decision making on the field. Fitzy has plateaued and I don't see him improving. Let's start Mallett.
Through all of this, I do not blame Fitzpatrick. He's not the one that decided to start him these past nine weeks. You can clearly see he's trying his darndest. I thank him for that really.

Fitzpatrick is a really good back-up and can hold the fort as a spot starter.
Time for him to assume his natural position.

On his knees in O'briens office ???

is he doing it better than rick smith in mcnair's office?

While I appreciate his effort he simply isn't good enough and never has been. Time to face reality fitz. Solid back up to play in spot duty. Not good enough to lead a team 16 games.
I never said any different, only that it's not his fault that he's starting for our team. He's being who he is, it's someone else's responsibility to put a competent QB on the field.
