Round 3 Commentary Thread

YYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSS..... im happy- who knows-the way this is going Ko and youboty might be there tom.

I have a feeling we just drafted our two future Tackles. Just a guess, but I'd project Spencer to RT in our offensive line scheme with Winston as our LT.

according to Scouts Inc profile, Spencer is a bit potential guy. Very very powerful. Is also very coachable.

shew........ I thought we really were in trouble....... I forgot we had two threes. We still got Winston, and sPencer looks really, really good. but I don't remember us talking about him.

I'm thrilled they got O-line help with both picks of the 3rd round. Hopefully one or both can be instant contributors. I've not heard much about the guy from Pittsburgh, but this team needed help on O-line. I am loving this draft, although I seem to be in the minority on Mario Williams.

I am now very happy with this draft.

I mean....wow I would have been happy with getting Eric Winston with our second pick...getting Ryans and Eric Winston....sweet.

Absolutely love both of those picks. Winston is a steal in the 3rd and Spencer is a monster that is raw because he hasn't played many years in football. Excelent picks and I am now completely happy with this draft. Would like to have seen a CB in one of the rounds, but can't complain.

I'm not incredibly worried about the defensive backs we have. I was worried about the offensive line. I knew - I KNEW! they wouldn't leave Wand uncontested as the LT.

Look at GB, with their glut of really good LB.

Our Lads take on on Spencer (8.89 rating)
2 year starter. Former DT that moved to offensive guard in 2004. Plays O-line with a defensive mentality. Has thick hips and thighs to hold his ground and anchor a bull rush. Long arms and a short torso. Plays on his feet. Rarely on the ground. Good athletic ability to pull and block on the perimeter. Will run his feet on contact. Explosive, powerful, and strong. An ascending player that is raw, but has natural instincts and football awareness. In the Senior Bowl, he physically dominated his opponent. Played left guard. Stuns you with an explosive punch. Powerful player with body control and natural ability. Did not sustain his blocks on the second level. Second or third round.

Wouldnt of minded getting a safety along with an O-linemen but we can definitely use the O-line help!

this is just what mike sherman needed 2 coachable talented guys to push for time. xpect Winston to start immediately and hope spencer will either play RT or RG. Spencer is known for being raw yet very coachable.

Definitely Agree.

I still would like to see some safeties but I'm very happy with this draft thus far.

I can't believe yall are happy, do ya'll think Brown and Glenn will be a good Safties combo or somthing???

It could be worse. They're both decent SS. It's the FS that worries me, but I can't argue with OL, especially not Winston.

Oh, and there's still 4 or 5 DBs on the board that could play S for us.

Maybe we swing up for Pat Watkins if he gets into the bottom of the 3rd.

Adequate.....o-line was a bigger need- we still have tom.

so now for the UT fans-Derrrick Johnson OR Travis Johnson and Eric Winston

We still have more picks, and there are talented safeties to be had in Day 2 of the draft. Try waiting for them to complete their picks before forming a lynchmob.

I'm a bit biased, but I hope we pick up Willie Andrews. Simpson could fall to the 4th as well. Watkins & others will still be available in Day 2.

Would Zemaitis, CB Penn State, be a feasibility at the beginning tomorrow, or possibly trading into the end of the third round tonight? I really liked him at Penn State, and we need another CB.

If people just saw our draft review of Mario,Winston and Ryans- they prob would've thought we traded with the jets and got #4,#29,#33 as our picks

Good point, maddict. It's weird the way these things seem to work out.

Who does Philadelphia want so bad?

its official..the worm has turned for anyone with a lick of sense...we can complain about bush and vince all we want...but this is a good draft. Winston, Pitts, Flannagan, McKinney, Spencer will be our line. We have a legit pass rusher, and finally drafted a conventional linebacker. I am ok with that and I think I like it.

I like the looks of that...Spencer is huge, but obviously has the quickness to succeed in the system...With good coaching, he and Winston could become dominant bookends...

Today is a bright day in Texan-land...

Pope to Arizona.
They may be the winners today.

Leinart is 1 lucky SOB- i think he'd fall down and die if the offence he was in wasn't loaded

Az are scary good on offence- will their o-line improve-their line is worse than ours- they pass-block a little better but cant run block

Spencer is like 6 "5" 330 lbs. Now let CC do his stuff in the later rounds and then kick his butt out of H-town. Hopefully we can trade up the #98 pick and pick up an extra pick or two in the fourth to grab a couple of CB's. If that happenend I would say that this year has been one of the best overall drafts that the organization has had.

The third round alone is enough reason for me to be excited about next season. Add Super Mario to the mix, and things are looking good.

I agree. I hope we can get decent DB in the 4th or trade up?

I am telling you now we have a GREAT CHANCE TO TURN this whole thing around.

I am giving the coaching staff and CC/Mr.McNair a lot of PROPS they did a GREAT JOB today, that COULD VERY WELL BE all starters next year this changes everything next year.

I AM PUMPED!
Go Texans!!!:redtowel:

Nice avatar...I worked on my own between picks, let me know what you think. That's Byron on the right in case it's difficult to tell. (If you've seen the full size picture before though it should be fairly easy)

Good stuff. I'm a little surprised by some of the picks. But then again Kubiak has coached in 2 winning systems on the offensive side of the ball - 3 championship rings to go along w/ it. For a first go round as a HC, good stuff. Can't wait for the season to begin - that includes pre-season. I WILL BE supporting the Texans.

The AFC South could be bad *** next season - optimism speaking, here.

I worked on mine through tears last night.

I like it, but Byron looks waaaaaay too skinny.
