Round 3 Commentary Thread

Marino's 13 and Ryan Leaf's 30 something tells me all I need to know about the wonder-lick.

True dat, am just wondering if the 10 is the tip of the iceberg. Maybe isn't so coachable, bad interveiws/attitude. Just wondering why he is falling so far, past so many teams that could use a FS.

There was some story on Alan Z that most scouts believed would drop him to 6th at best, quite possibly undrafted. Don't remember the details, I'm afraid.

Just got back from dinner..good Mexican food..good to hear that the got Winston. Good DB and TE there but we needed O-line depth and players. winston is a steal.

yeah there was def. rumours going around that he interviewed badly and was very immature- plus he's 23 or 24(really old for a sophmore) i cant remember- its not like he's a young 20 year old that can come in and start getting mature over a few years

Man I really liked Thomas and feel he's being overshadowed in this deep TE draft, he will be a solid player in the NFL. Theres a reason New England took him, they are great at pulling talent late in the draft

D. Thomas should be the Patriots type of player. I liked him, and he should be a good fit for them.

I really feel he is going to be the Jason Witten of this draft (Maybe not as talented, but will have a equal effect on the offense in NE) Thomas has really underated hands, hes solid all around.

Sarg's Best Available (for the Texans):

1. FS Ko Simpson...2. SS Darnell Bing...3. WR Martin Nance...4. FS Pat Watkins...5. TE Dominique Byrd...6. CB Dee Webb...7. WR Demetrius Williams...8. C Greg Eslinger

And that's all that's left on my Top 66 board for the Texans!

I would like to see us take a flyer on Gerald Riggs Jr (6th or 7th round or undrafted I don't care). He has talent, he is just coming off injury.

I can't believe what im seeing, does Cass and Kubes know that were gonna Winston and Simpson were gonna fall this low? I can't believe we're 5 picks from gettin Simpson.

I think, if Bing and Simpson are available on 4th round... we should trade up, by giving next year picks and take both...

they should start for us for years...

what do you think?

Oh, Babin...

Bad regret =////

Dont you think we are with toooo much players at DE...?

Weaver, Kalu, Babin, Peek, Mario... (1 expensive FA signing and 2 first rounders)

Does anybody have a link to some video on Ko Simpson, I haven't really had a chance to see this guy and obviously people are high on him.

Cause hes dumb but he sure as heck can play ball.

i dont know- there has to be more to it than that..VY was still selected high despite his wonderlic- i said it before the 3rd's and il say it again- if you look at the type of players we're drafting he's not really the type- i say we dont take him-maybe watkins

PS im not a downer or anything its just i like being pessimistic about future picks because if we dont take them - i was prepared for it anyway but if they do, im happy...but i honestly dont see us taking him

i think we may trade it away

I'm liking what the Packers have done with their picks thus far. They have A.J. Hawk & Abdul Hodge at LB, Darryn Colledge at OT, Jason Spitz at OG, and Greg Jennings at WR. I'm not so sure I like the fact that they traded Javon Walker, but their draft has been very good IMO.

As for the Texans I'm very pleased with their first day selections. Williams will help give us a fierce DLine for years to come. Ryans seems like he'll be a solid OLB for us, and he could possibly start right away. Spencer seems like a project, but he's got good feet and nice size for an OG. Winston should be a great addition to the OLine, and he could possibly start if Wade is a June 1st cap casualty.

We've still got the 1st pick in Day 2, and there are several key prospects available at various positions. At LB there are players like Freddie Roach, Kevin Simon, Spencer Havner, A.J. Nicholson, and Leon Williams. As for DB there are players like Ko Simpson, Charles Gordon, Willie Andrews, Greg Threat, Nate Salley, Pat Watkins, Darnell Bing, Demario Minter, and Alan Zemaitis.

If your under the impression we should be taking another RB then there are guys like P.J. Daniels, Wali Lundy, Andre Hall, Leon Washington, and Gerald Riggs still around. If a TE is in the equation there are guys like T.J. Williams, Tim Day, Charles Davis, and Jeff King on the board. As for WR there are guys like Mike Haas, Hank Baskett, Jason Avant, Skyler Green, Martin Nance, Demetrius Williams, and David Anderson.

I think that we still need to pick up a talented young DB to play FS as well as a young MLB whom we can groom behind Cowart. Maybe they take a flyer on a TE or RB sometime in Day 2, but it looks like this draft might be slightly favoring defense over offense.

Me likes the Texans' pick! "the beast", DR, EW, & Spence! The Texans made good in addressing both sides! Hopefuly, tommorow they pick a Free safety, RB, & TE/WR. Then I will be satisfied.:)

It was nice to see Winston fall to the third round. It was also nice to see the Texans address an issue at least on the first day. I think that Winston could start at a guard position...but that may just be me.

both winston and spencer were rated in the top 5 on most everyones lists. i think winston could be a major part of the offence at tackle early this season maybe not imediatly but eventually a starter before the year is up. go check out this web site they have a lot of great information about all the players. tells there strengths and weakness and all that. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/::fans: :whoohoo: :highfive:

Texans take Charles Spencer...

Boo...
CHARLES SPENCER IS A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TEXANS...6' 4'' 353LBS GREAT FOOT WORK, CAN PLAY GUARD OR TACKLE...YOU HAVE NO CLUE ON WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE A GREAT TEAM...AND I THINK CARR WILL AGREE WITH THIS PICK...SINCE HE WAS THE MOST SACKED QB LAST SEASON.

That was just a knee jerk reaction...He's too heavy for a zone blocking scheme, and he will likely be asked to slim down a bit, but he does have great quickness...He has better agility numbers than Ferguson and I have no doubt that he'll fit the scheme...He and Winston should be good bookends for years...
