Roll call of those going up to Baltimore

Confirmed - Hilton by the stadium
Section 101 row 8

I'll be sporting the Red Cushing #56 and the wife the Red AJ #80.

This is going to be freakin awesome!!!!

HoustonRaven you are a good dude and like what I've seen from your fellow fans on the Ravens board.

My brother recommended a place called Chaps that has a beef sandwich he said was awesome. Is that close to the Inner Harbor

Chaps is damn good!

But I am sorry to say it's nowhere near the Harbor. You'll need a rental (or a very expensive cab ride) in order to get one of their pit beef sammy's.

HoustonRaven I have a question for you. On the Mighty Gwinnett show on 790AM here in town, the host Dylan Gwinn really ragged on your hometown saying its the skid mark of the US and the only things there are crab cakes and strip clubs. The host was born and raised in D.C.

I was just wondering if there was a Dallas-Houston type of rivalry where the people in each city hate the other town. Also, do Ravens fans dislike the Redskins like we dislike the Cowboys even though we rarely play them.

Yes and Yes.

People from the DC area do not like us folks from Baltimore. It's unfortunate that he has characterized Baltimore that way. I grew up in and around Baltimore and that's nothing close to the city I know.

IMO, it stems from sports mostly. Both cities are football towns, one city has fallen so far from grace, it's become a joke in NFL circles. The other is a well run organization that has a history of winning in their short life. Redskins fans have far more hostility than Ravens fans have towards them.

I'd say it is very much like the Dallas - Houston rivalry on many levels.

I'm renting a car to visit one of my best friends in DC so there will be an opportunity to get one of these pit beef sammy's

FYI, the Four Seasons has rooms just $20 more than the Hilton. Not often that I can afford to stay at a place that nice and I canceled my reservation at the Hilton and am now staying at the Four Seasons.

Not to offend anyone (HoustonRaven) with the comparison-I hope the Ravens fans are as cool as the Redskins fans.

I had a blast at the Skins game last year. Yes I took alot of good natured ribbing (which I fully expect coming into their house) but it was good.

I've been to Baltimore many times (not for a game though) and everyone was pretty cool, even when I was wearing my Texans stuff.

I went to the regular season matchup there and wore my Texans gear and got a couple ribs walking through the parking lots where the tailgaters were at, but nothing you would call a hostile enviroment. This IS higher stakes and expect to see more Blue/Red there than last time, but other then the occosianal beligerant fan, shouldnt have much to worry about.

Redskins fans give a crap more about Ravens fans than vica versa. It's kinda silly. Two different conferences, two different divisions. The Ravens were born out of territorialism (Jack Kent Cooke convinced Tagliabue not to allow an expansion team in Baltimore by famously saying, "I'd rather see a team in Mexico City than in Baltimore"). Since the 96 inaugural season, though, the Ravens franchise has been nothing but a model for a winning mentality (even when we weren't winning). The Redskins don't have that same culture. So a lot of animosity is directed towards the Ravens because they have nothing better to do than hate other teams. The Ravens just stay focused on winning.

Funny story... Back in, like 2009, the Redskins came to Baltimore during the regular season... a rare matchup, and the first regular season matchup in Baltimore, IIRC. I had a tradition, living in DC, that I would go watch the game in Baltimore during away games (avoid parking hassles) and stay back in DC for home games. I couldn't watch this game in DC though, so I went to Baltimore.

I was at the Ravens fan flagship bar, Mothers in Fed Hill, and a bunch of Skins fans parted the packed crowd, got in a big circle and started singing Hail to the Redskins at the top of their lungs. Ultimate disrespect for the home team to do that in our bar. A few Ravens fans (and Skins fans) ended up getting tossed for a tussle that ensued. That's the only time I've seen any real rivalry from both sides... it's almost always Redskins fans towards Ravens fans.

As for your sports reporter, I'd remind him that when he lived in DC, DC was a hell-hole itself. Both cities have improved. Baltimore has a nice up and coming arts, music and entreprenurial scene. DC has a nice up and coming cloak-and-dagger election scene, a fading music scene and a public transportation system that is so mechanically and financially destitute that people are literally dying.

My son and I plan on meeting up w y'all on Saturday.

Oh and for the record DC > Baltimore. As HoustonRaven said, we don't like them and they don't like us.

FYI, on Clutchfans someone mentioned there is a big Texans tailgate in Lot O.

Does anyone have a contact person for the Texans tailgate in Lot O? I've been hearing rumors from various people, but I'd like to know if 1. this is real; 2. they want a ton of visitors.

Thanks all spreading the news about the blog to folks--had people who aren't even computer types telling me they found it helpful.

UPDATED BLOG POST WITH FRIDAY NIGHT INFO ON IT.

The Battle Red Plan: A guide for Texans fans going to Baltimore

Still looking for tailgate stuff, though if the weather is sketchy enough, we might just stay at the first bar, and wander thru tailgates to the stadium to get in early for warmups, supporting our team.

That Cluch fan forum is interesting... other than that self-racist post... there seems to be lots of their fans attending the game too. They also seem to know where the team is staying... if anyone wants to stalk.

Some guy called TejasTom posted this:

Great TMAC3.

We are asking everyone to wear BATTLE RED at the game.

We want to really stand out. Lot's of people are going to the Luckie's at the Power Plant to watch the Saturday games. There is a Texan's tailgate in Lot O starting at 10 on Sunday.

Follow @HoustonTexans on twitter updates.

I'll be wearing my BATTLE RED #56.

I am on my way to Baltimore right now as we speak.

Sent via my phone

Since I've grown up in the northeast and have attended bitterly cold, open-air stadiums in January. my one bit of advice to everyone is wear two layers of everything. Socks, longjohns, jackets, etc. It always feels a lot colder inside the stadium than outside.

Plus I was in Houston for the Monday night game three years ago vs the Jags, cold isn't your strong suit. :)

Any more info than that?

From the HT Board

"We are going to start tailgating in the "O" Lot at 10:00 and start working our way to the stadium about an hour before game time. Ch 13 news is supposed to stop by our tailgating camp. The more Texans fans there... the better! Theres about 20 in my group alone. "

If anyone out there's still looking for a single ticket, I'm in a group of 3 Texan fans but we had to buy 4 tickets. Section 501, Row 22. Message me if you're interested, I paid $175 per ticket, happy to give it up to any fellow Texan fan willing to pay somewhere in that range.

I'm on the 12:50pm Continental flight to BWI. The plane is filled to the gills with Texans fans wearing our colors. It's a beautiful sight and makes me damn proud of our loyal, passionate fans.

After much deliberation... I'm going! Section 545 row 1!

I'm thinking about bringing my Texans flag to drape over the side... good idea?

Texans fans were definitely representing at Luckie's Tonight!!! Holy crap it is awash in Battle Red/Liberty White and Steel Blue!!

Baltimore will know we were here!!!

Tons of Texans fans represented us very well. I had a good experience with the Ravens fans near me

The Ravens fans were great!! There was all the normal garbage given but nothing that I wouldn't expect going into someone elses house. The folks sitting around me were all great!

I would go back to a game there anytime (hopefully a win next time though).

It was great meeting a bunch of folks from the boards (Yankee, Texans Chick, Glass Half Full, SheTexan, Joe Texan, Reuben, Zdeac10, and I'm sure there were more but I don't necessarily know who they are on here) had a blast!!
