RG Kevin Zeitler CLE on trade block

7 years experience, 1.27 pick by Bengals, last 2 with Browns. No probowls. 6'4" 315 lbs. 29 in 2 days.

3 years remaining @ $10, $10 & $12 mil if traded.

He's likely to be released if he's on the trading block.

I'd wait. I don't think he's a guy that you'd project well enough to trade assets for him based on his current contract structure.

Are we not in reasonably good shape at guard with Fulton & Rankin @ right & left guard respectively as expected starters this Fall ? It's the tackle positions that we've really got to upgrade.

How are we in good shape projecting Rankin to a position he has never significantly played?

If this doesn't impede signing Brown then do it.

Adding Brown/Zietler and draft an OT like McGary and the OL will go from a weakness to a strength. I would give the Bengals a 3rd.

You're probably right. But after seeing the OL the last 2 yrs I'm on board with just about anything that will improve the OL and Zietler would certainly be an upgrade. It would be worth a 3rd to me.

Texans just saved almost 10mil by cutting K.Johnson a non contributory player turn that money into a player of need with a strong history.

I am afraid penny pinching will turn into no significant upgrades to the roster. Do something to bring talent here. Give them less per year but more guaranteed money overall. Players want guaranteed money.

If you could get Zeitler for a 3rd round pick then how do you not do it? What OL are you going to draft in the 3rd round that is better?

They are dumping him for salary reasons that's why I think it will only take a 3rd to get Zietler.

I won't deny that that's a consideration but my thought is with his multiple years of experience as an SEC left tackle I like his chances of being successful
at that side at guard.
And the HC seems to like his potential there which tends to count for quite a bit.

However, in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Texans started Rankin at left guard with Senio Kelemete ruled out late.

State of the Texans provided a video clip on Twitter with head coach Bill O’Brien announcing in his press conference how he’s viewing Rankin more as a guard moving forward.
