Raiders reportedly trying to acquire Palmer/UPDATE/aquired

I'll stir this up again, because I heard how Carson Palmer has come out the gate this year looking really, really, good. It appears, he is currently the 3rd ranked QB in the NFL, behind Mariota and Rodgers.

Maybe he isn't as washed-up as some of you thought a few years ago. He seems to be lighting things up right now with 7 TD passes (tied 1st), 124.4 rating (3rd), and the Cards have started out 2-0 after having put of 31 & 48 points in their first two games. Both the Cards and Palmer look really good this year! He's still got it even after two knee injuries.

The problem with Carson Palmer, as always, is going to be his health. If he's injured late in the season and even playoffs what good does it do for Arizona?

I read an interesting article the other day that Kurt Warner would have seriously considered coming out of retirement to play in the past 2015 NFL playoffs. He was itching to lace 'em up again in early January.

Once they were down to their third string QB Ryan Lindley, after Palmer and Stanton were out, but the Cardinals never asked him. They ended up losing to the Panthers in the NFC wild-card game with Ryan Lindley starting.

It would have been fun for the fans to see Kurt Warner playing again. As always, talk to me in December and even January, and we'll re-evaluate Carson Palmer. Chances are he'll be on IR by then.

You're related to Carson Palmer, aren't you?

Nope. Figured someone would say something like that though. Actually, the guy on Sirius made me think about this post again, so I just thought I'd look up who the naysayers were and point out how wrong they were about Carson Palmer. I give Carson credit even as a Cardinal, as he's shown he's one of the top QBs in the game today . . . at least statistically speaking.

David Johnson -- all he does is score touchdowns. Boy, all those people who thought the Rams would overtake the Cards in the NFC West had better pump the brakes, or else this will happen. Carson Palmer looks outstanding through two games: He's completed 36 of 56 passes, picking up 8.79 yards per throw with seven touchdowns and one interception. His passer rating for the season? 124.4.

I'm teasing, of course. But you know Palmer's history. He has an extensive body of work. His best passer rating since his knee got killed in the playoffs that year is 83.9. Yeah, he had a 95 rating last season, but only through six games. I think everyone would agree that Palmer is one of those QBs that has the ability to be elite in any given game, but his body of work is extensive enough that it doesn't lie. That's not to say that he can't have an elite season, but it also doesn't mean anyone was wrong about him.

It's a shame, because I think he was on his way to being one of the best QBs of his generation before the injury.

The injuries have been a concern, but he has BOTH the HEAD and ARM to play QB in the NFL at a high level.

The Cardinals are coming off their finest season since 1948, leading the NFL in points and yards per game. Carson Palmer owns the NFL's best winning percentage (.870) since the start of the 2014 season, playing the best ball of his 12-year career. He's 36 years old, though, tossing passes to Larry Fitzgerald, who is also entering the twilight years of a sterling career.

Hmmm. Reading that article reminded me of this string. I know, it's an old string, but when Carson Palmer's name pops-up with being one of the best QBs in the NFL, I can't help but reflect on our conversations in this string.
