Rahim Moore Safety- **SIGNED**

Important signing as the Safety draft class is poor and the free agents weren't deep.

2. Rahim Moore
2014 Grade: +2.4
2014 Snaps: 1150

After an injury-shortened 2013, Moore bounced back to grade positively in coverage last season. Only two safeties bested his five interceptions and he had among the lowest Yards per Cover Snap at the position (0.25). Run defense is a question mark, as he graded at -3.3 there in 2014, with missed tackles one of the main issues. However, he’s shown ability defending the run before, as his 2012 season indicates, and considering his age (25, the youngest player on this list), Moore should still be one of the most coveted defensive backs once free agency starts.

Yes! Anything to help keep Swearinger from covering ANYBODY

lol! :kitten:

I like this signing, as well. I think our defense has a chance to be even better this year. QB DEVOURING MONSTER!!!

I really want to see more LBs on the roster, though.

I like this for KJ a lot. Moore should provide the kind of cover that will allow Kareem to play more of a positional corner than just trying to latch onto a WR and follow him throughout a play. Consider it a bit of a poor man's Earl Thomas/Richard Sherman.

This. There's a reason Talib and Harris were though of as a formidable corner duo. Safety help.

Do doubt! I'm one of the few that still believes in Clowney, but not for this season. We've GOT to get someone on the outside that can rush the passer. It's JJ then______________

At ILB I was hoping for Butler, but there are still a few out there. McClain would be the best, but his off the field would prevent us from him.

Briggs
Spikes
Geno Hayes
Dent

This guy along with "dog man" D.J. gives us our starting safeties. Why do we sign another safety now ? For depth they signed Pleasant.

DJ needs to be a sub packages guy up in the box. he is mediocre in coverage

Hopefully he doesnt lose his damn mind and allow his man to get behind him on a hail mary play in the playoffs.

just joking around a bit. Good pickup.

I love this move to shore up our secondary. Seems BoB is resigned to the fact that our O is up in the air and decided to focus on D. Hell, if we can force enough turnovers, every game is winnable. :cjeremy635::d:

TBH did not think we'd get him. Very good signing especially $ and want to see how it's allocated. Hope we get Lewis to add depth. Not a fan of Pleasant and hope Ballentine comes on strong. Pushes draft need down to late day 3.

Defensively speaking the Texans have a really strong unit entering the 2015 season. This could become one of the best defenses in the entire league if a few key players stay healthy like Brian Cushing and Kareem Jackson, and some of the young talent contributes going into their second season. I'm obviously referring to guys like Jadeveon Clowney, Louis Nix and Jeoffrey Pagan. Rahim Moore was just what we were lacking at free safety.

We may now have the best young tandem at safety if D.J. Swearinger ever gets his head on straight and decides to play smart football. Off the field Swearinger is becoming a comedian for all the wrong reasons. Stealing his own truck, not keeping his pitbull on a leash as it bit two of his friends including Clowney who should be resting up. I mean jeez. At least now we aren't as likely to draft a safety with so many other needs especially on offense.

We have the talent on defense to win 10 or 11 games. I expect the Texans to add some dynamic playmakers on offense during this upcoming draft. We will probably invest into the offense during the first three rounds of the draft. Pick #16 in round one will most certainly be used on a wide receiver.

Calling him mediocre in coverage is being much too kind

Since he's a safety, I can live with him being mediocre in coverage, but it's his tackling that drives me up the wall. I've lost count how many times he whiffed the tackle because he was so focused on knocking the ball out.

I get that he's always trying to force a turnover, but he needs to concentrate less on that, and more on wrapping the guy up.

I don't know... I sure would like a bada** LB who can cover...

Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm, which I largely share, but you can't be a complete zero at LB and expect to have the best defense. I know everyone keeps thinking Cushing is going to be 2010 Cushing, but it ain't happening. And OLB? They keep drafting them and keep ending up with zip to show for it. Maybe B'OB can start drafting solid players at LB, because the previous regime had a combo of bad luck with injuries and terrible talent assessment.

Since 2009:

Brian Cushing
Connor Barwin
Darryl Sharpton
Brooks Reed
Whitney Mercilus
Trevardo Williams
Sam Montgomery
Jeoffrey Pagan
Jadeveon Clowney

These guys have performed so admirably that we've had guys like Tarpinian, Dent, Tuggle, and probably a few more I can't remember manning the position. Doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.

yep. It used to drive me crazy to see Dunta Robinson bounce off guys because he was always going for the 'jacked up' hit. I'd say that he'd fail to get the tackle more than half of the time, and this was the main reason my attitude was good riddance when he left.

Love this signing.

The Texans lack of movement with LBs and lack of depth both inside and out is disconcerting. An aggressive 34 has got to have a solid LB corps to be successful.

No kidding. DJ has no business trying to cover anybody.

Well, this isn't 1988. A good OC or just a team with multiple good pass catchers will just scheme Swearinger into some form of coverage from the pure safety spot. Probably lots more of him at "LB" in the pass defenses.

Just watched his presser on the mothership. He REALLY talks highly of Kareem Jackson going as far to call him his "big brother". Says he wanted to come here when this whole thing started.

I like!

Moore said he knew he wanted to be with the #Texans when they called. It wasn’t a tough decision.

Rahim Moore calls Kareem Jackson his big brother. Share the same agency. #Texans

So resigning Kareem was an even bigger get! Awesome.
