Here is a preliminary look at possible trades for the #1 pick. I am a fan of trading down, but I will leave those preferences aside and just present some possible trade opportunities. I will make it into a poll so everyone can vote on what their preference for a trade would be, please no comments like "keep Reggie" or "we need Reggie" in this thread, just vote and comment on which of these trades would possibly be of interest to you:
1) Trade with the Titans: Trade the 1st overall for the 3rd overall, their 2nd rounder (35th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The Titans will be looking to dump some players including maybe Steve McNair and could be looking for their future QB, but there aren't really any players I'd want to take off their roster that they'd likely give up.
2a) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. The Jets could be interested in grabbing Leinart if Pennington won't recover, and could be looking at Bush to replace Curtis Martin. John Abraham would be a nice pickup from their team if we switch to a 4-3, or maybe Laveraneus Coles, which would give us a very good 4-3 DE or a very fast #2 WR.
2b) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall) and 4th rounder (100th overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and John Abraham or Laveraneus Coles.
3a) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 2nd rounder (37th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. The Packers could be looking to move up and grab Bush as a replacement for Ahman Green, and the only player on their team that they might give up that I'd be interested in would be Nick Barnett.
3b) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 3rd rounder (69th overall), next year's 1st round pick, and Nick Barnett who is a solid MLB.
4) Trade with the Raiders: Trade the 1st overall for the 6th overall, their 2nd rounder (38th overall), and next year's 1st and 3rd round picks. The Raiders are looking for a new QB and may trade up to get Leinart, or could possibly be interested in Bush, but more likely Leinart. Robert Gallery would probably be a decent addition, but I don't see them giving him up, we could maybe add Doug Gabriel to the deal, which would give us an additional fast WR.
5) Trade with the 49ers: Trade the 1st overall for the 7th overall, their 2nd rounder (39th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The 49ers are in the rebuilding process and probably won't be looking to trade away too many picks, but they are interested in Bush and we could maybe snag a couple defensive players from them, Julian Peterson would be a great addition at LB, and Andre Carter would be a nice 4-3 DE.
6) Trade with the Lions: Trade the 1st overall for the 9th overall, their 3rd rounder (73rd overall), next year's 2nd and 3rd round picks, and Charles Rogers and Marcus Pollard. The Lions made a mistake drafting a WR in the 1st round three straight years and are definitely looking for a QB to replace Harrington, so they could be interested in trading up to grab Leinart, and this trade gives us a good young WR (albeit injury-prone so far in his career), and a good TE.
7) Trade with the Cardinals: Trade the 1st overall for the 10th overall, their 2nd rounder (42nd overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and Leonard Davis and Adrian Wilson. The Cardinals could be looking for Bush but would be more likely to trade up for Leinart, Davis is the only good player on the OL so I'm not sure they'd be willing to give him up but if Leinart grades out well enough it might happen. This would give us very good S that can cover and tackle, and a mammouth of a OG.

I don't guarantee any of these trades will be offered, but all are a relatively even value according to the draft pick chart. I just want to gather your thoughts on some of these trades that could potentially be offered, if you would accept any of the trades, and if so which would most interest you..

A trade with the Titans would be a mistake. I don't think the Texans would want to face Reggie Bush twice a season.

True, that could be an important consideration, although I think the Titans would be more interested in trading up for Leinart since they have Chris Brown and Travis Henry at RB and McNair could likely retire or get cut, plus in this particular scenario all we get from the Titans is draft picks, and not as many/as good of picks, and anyone we're interested in at #3 we can probably get at #5 to #7. My personal preference (although I doubt they make the offer) would be the Cardinals, we can still acquire a top-end OT at #10, plus we can add a huge and good OG (Leonard Davis), a good coverage/hitting combo S (Adrian Wilson), and extra 2nd round picks for this year and next year. The Jets offer that would include John Abraham would be a decent offer if we switch to a 4-3 so we wouldn't have to look to free agency or the draft for another DE, and Coles is a very fast WR that would combine with AJ and Mathis to make a lightning fast and good WR core. I would also definitely consider the 49ers trade offer if we could get Peterson and/or Andre Carter out of it, and I'd think about the Lions one to get some extra picks and add a good TE and a WR with great potential if he could stay healthy.

Did You come up with those scenarios? U have 2 much time on your hands.

Yes I did, and it didn't take too long, I just looked up the approximate draft pick values on the charts and factored in any players on each team that I would actually want to bring to our team in exchange for a draft pick in there. I don't think most, if any, of these trades would be offered to us, but they are statistically even and I was curious to see what other people thought would be a decent trade.

those are some interesting options but i seriously doubt mister mcnair is going to let charlie trade the 1st overall pick he is a smart business man and he has seen what the charlie trades look like.

very provocative pole morknolle, one that i havent yet voted on because of the good options. in several there are scenarios that would work out very well for the texans.

1. i dont like trading within the division unless we're obviously ripping someone off.

2a,b. i dont think either scenario is enough from the jets. i think that between our current linemen & tweeners we can field a very strong 4-3 front, and i'm not sold on coles.

3a. decent deal in a normal trade down scenario

3b. this is leading the pack for me ... no pun intended. we'd receive a solid MLB for our new 4-3 system, a top 5 first, an additional 3rd, and a first rounder next year from a 4-12 team (who is going to be under a new qb). i think this would be very tough to pass up.

4. probably the best pure draft trade down scenario. if they were to offer up gallery in exchange for either this year's 2nd or next year's 3rd i'd be all over it.

5. 9'ers would be very interesting because of peterson & next year. i really dont think it matters who they draft, they're probably going to be bad again next season. if we could sneak in their 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 3rd next year (along with this year's) it'd be very enticing.

6. this is probably my second favorite since we address a hole (TE) with a proven player in pollard, and again get good next year picks from a consistantly bad team. charles rogers i really dont factor in, but if he can manage to keep from breaking something during preseason, has real potential to be a top tier #2 receiver.

7. this is 3rd on my list strictly because of leonard davis. i think trading down to 10 is a bit of a leap, but it'd still give us either winston or d'brick. i would gladly trade adrian wilson to upgrade to their first next year or to get their 3rd this year. what in this scenario is scary is that we could still pickup bentley and/or hutchinson in FA, a big OT in the draft, and possibly a great OG in the draft like jean-gilles ... in this case our offense is DONE for the next several years (provided a TE ... joppru, rivers/murphy stepping up, or 3rd rounder).

nice poll morknolle, i'm interested in how it turns out.

When you are sitting on a prospect like Bush.. I think you have to consider the pick to be worth a great deal more than its listed value.

For that reason.. I wouldnt take anything short of a top ten pick, plus their 1st round next season.. plus their 2nd rounder this season. And Id prefer to throw in their third rounder this season as well.

Anything less than that, and we will not only be taking too little.. but we can also look forward to the ridicule of the entire football world.

1) Trade with the Titans: Trade the 1st overall for the 3rd overall, their 2nd rounder (35th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick.

I dont like this because if they trade up it will be to jump the saints and take Leinhart. I dont think they have any interest in Bush. THen things start to get really complicated for 7am in the morning

2a) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. John Abraham Laveraneus Coles

I would like this deal however i dont see it happening. I dont see both Coles and Abraham in a deal. Maybe if there was an extra pick in there

2b) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall) and 4th rounder (100th overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and John Abraham or Laveraneus Coles.

This is what i was talking about in 2a. This is one of my favorites on the list but there is something about this deal that just says no to me. I have heard that Bush doesnt want to go to NYJ. So i dont think NYJ is a good deal

3a) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 2nd rounder (37th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. Nick Barnett.

I think this deal is a possibility. I dont expect the Packers to have a good team next season so i think the trade with GB would give us a 10 top pick next season. Remember Rodgers is their QB. Farve will likely retire.

3b) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 3rd rounder (69th overall), next year's 1st round pick, and Nick Barnett

Same as 3a.. i think the Texans would use Bush as a ploy to get get a 3a from from GB by saying we want him so gives us more to get him.

4) Trade with the Raiders: Trade the 1st overall for the 6th overall, their 2nd rounder (38th overall), and next year's 1st and 3rd round picks. Robert Gallery Doug Gabriel

I dont think this Gallery will be part of any deal.

5) Trade with the 49ers: Trade the 1st overall for the 7th overall, their 2nd rounder (39th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. Julian Peterson Andre Carter

I dont see SF trading down they are trying to get more picks instead of get rid of picks.

6) Trade with the Lions: Trade the 1st overall for the 9th overall, their 3rd rounder (73rd overall), next year's 2nd and 3rd round picks, and Charles Rogers and Marcus Pollard.

Isnt Rodgers injuryed or coming off an injury. I have to say i think Detriot would either give up someone else or more picks.

7) Trade with the Cardinals: Trade the 1st overall for the 10th overall, their 2nd rounder (42nd overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and Leonard Davis and Adrian Wilson.

It doesnt seem like enough. I think other teams will offer us something better but this is prob in my top 3.

The trade with the cardinals is the best one.

We could move back to 10. Pick up L davis considered one of the best guards in the NFL as well as Wilson a good young safety and ballhawk.

Still be in a positon to pick up say J. Williams the CB. Allow us to have two high lineman in the 2nd.

Agreed, most of these choices that involve receiving just draft picks favor us in the point scale, generally by 200 or so points, but some of that depended on how interested that team would be in Bush vs. grabbing Leinart with the #1. Also, in the trades that involve players as well obviously you have to take out a pick or two so I kind of estimated on those players' values, but overall I think all these trades favor us value-wise and some could give us valuable players to add to the team while keeping us high enough in the 1st round to grab a top OT or a top defensive player like Jimmy or Mario Williams.

Royce, I had heard a couple weeks ago that Bush like NY, and at the time preferred either NY or to stay in Cali (presumably with Raiders or 49ers), probably because those are the biggest markets available in the NFL. I'm sure he's open to going anywhere, but either way it's our trade to make before the draft so in a way it doesn't really matter what Bush's opinion is on his eventual team. If he publically said he wouldn't play for the Jets then obviously they wouldn't trade up unless they were going after Leinart, but I had heard that if anything NY was one of his preferences. I think the Jets are one of the more likely options because John Abraham is likely leaving anyways as a free agent and may be open to a sign and trade, and the Jets could be looking at either Leinart or Bush, so they might like moving up to #1 to have both options available to them until they make a final decision on Pennington's future. As for the Detroit trade, I'd obviously rather get Roy Williams than Charles Rogers since he's stayed injury free for the most part and I think is a better WR, but I don't see them giving him up, maybe Mike Williams or Charles Rogers, but I doubt Roy.

This would be my favorite option too, I'm not sure Jimmy Williams would fall that far, but Eric Winston could be there, and using one pick to bring in Leonard Davis at OG and Eric Winston at OT would do wonders for our OL, not to mention we add a very good S and other picks for it too. Rather than trading the #1 for like 4-5 draft picks, I'd prefer to see us get 3 picks and a couple proven veterans that we know have been successful and can help out our team and provide more veteran leadership while adding 2-3 rookies rather than just bringing in 4-5 more rookies.

If Bush and Leinart are gone and there is no VY, the Titans will draft D'Brick, then who do we go after? I would rather have Bush then Joseph/Giles then AJ Hawk or JImmy Williams. For me the only smart choices are D'Brick or Bush because we have no idea what we are going to do with the D, save that for next year....

I agree that I'd rather have Bush than just Jean-Gilles, although I'd rather have Eric Winston than Ferguson anyways. The point is we could likely trade the #1 pick and get picks to get Winston and Jean-Gilles, and a 1st rounder next year, and one or two veteran players on defense or elsewhere all just for that one pick, and I personally would rather do that. The only defensive players I'd look at in the 1st round are maybe Jimmy Williams, Michael Huff (if we have a 1st round pick below the #15 or so), or Mario Williams if we're going to switch to a 4-3 defense. Mario I'd be willing to grab in the top 5 (again is we switch defenses), Jimmy maybe depending on how he runs and performs at the combine/workouts, and Huff anywhere below #15. Of course phenomenal workouts by these or other players could increase their draft stock to me, but for now these are the only defensive players I'd take in the 1st.

None of the above...my 1st option would be to talk to N.O. who are in desparate need of a QB. This would GTD them Lienart, hay N.O. if you don't want him maybe Tenn will. Rule of thumb is 3 #1 picks for the 1st pick but for you N.O. Houston will take your 1st rd pick, 2nd rd pick and your #1 pick next year. Then trade the #2 pick and the rights to Bush to GB or OAK for 3 #1's.

Nothing less than #1, #2, #3 this year and #1 and #2 next year! Yeah that's right we're talking about Reggie Bush. Take it or leave it. The team that gets Reggie will make a fortune so if you want him you better be prepared to pay. Sorry if that sounds greedy but it's a business you know.

Come on Preacher this is not some greatest QB prospect to come out. I would not even give that for a great QB prospect. Reggie is still just a RB/WR so calm down. 1st 2nd and next years 1st 3rd. That is the starting asking price and we can work from their. This type of draft is huge.

you're right. hes the highest rated prospect in the past 25 years at any position.

Well I guess it's a good thing you're not a GM then because no team in any sport would ever give up that much for a single player, and rightfully so, no player is worth that much, especially in a heavily-team-oriented sport like football. Anyways, this thread is getting off topic, so back to ideas about plausible trades and/or the ones listed in the poll.

He is not the highest rated player in the last 25 years at all other than maybe by a couple people that are trying to get their 15 minutes of fame by creating some crap heap of hype around this guy.

*Edit, the only people I would consider offering a trade similar to the one Preacher proposed would be for Marquez Bean or Corbin Williams (Coach C you should know what I'm talking about there).

If you honestly think Reggie Bush is a better prospect than Elway, Marino and that 84 class please much less Peyton Manning or Eli. Reggie is not a QB which makes him much less important. Is he a better prospect than college all world Barry Sanders. Morknolle has posted his stats he put up. He also spent two years behind Thurman thomas. Come on Stevo, dont buy into that kind of hype, because he is not that good.

of course hes not as valuable as a guy like elway. great QB alwayrs > great RB

but all things considered, hes still the highest rated. There were questions about Barry(which is why he went 3rd. GB still kicks themselves over this draft) Barry was a small guy, and ppl werent sure if his style would work in the NFL (like bush) Barry was also at okst, not exactly the USC of 1988.

Ive seen Bush in person, and although im not going to say hes the next Barry or something. He really is something special.

Amazing Speed
Amazing Moves
Well Built(said to have a "god body")
No Injury Concerns
Great Character
Very Marketable
Plays best in big games
Can line up @ receiver
Can return kicks or punts
big play threat like no other (avg 35yd per TD this year)

This si what I see when I see Bush. Show me a RB that has all of these traits... it will be hard to find and thats why I want him. He brings so much to the table.

Wouldnt you love to have our own LT?

Nice Marquez and Corbin reference there. I like that and yes I would offer anything for them also.

LT is fine, but I would rather have my own Wilie Roaf, J. Ogden, Walter Jones. Championships are won in the trenches.

Yes, I would gladly give up Domanick Davis and any combination of our picks for either of them, but unfortunately that's not an option.

Championships are won in many different places.

I dont see us winning one next year, so id like to see us get reggie. Hed be a great start.

Coach C. said:

there is no "perfect formula" for winning a championship.

its a combo of coaching + skill + luck. having a great line wont make you a championship team. not having a great one doesnt mean you wont win a championship.

Coach C. said:
Name a championship team who did not have what would be considered an above average to great line.

The Ravens oline of 2000 wasnt any good, but their defense sure was.

Brett Favre led the pack to a SB, not his line.

Broncos dont win back to back sb's without Elway and Davis.

Pats dont win without Brady.

Bucs didnt have a dominant oline, but they had a great D.

there isnt some formula thta makes you super bowl champs. Its the right players at the right times making the right plays.

if it was all about oline, the Chiefs wouldve won the Superbowl already.

hahahaha, that is the best argument you could come up with was to name their star players. Dude I said trenches line. Ravens their line was considered one of the best in that time J. Ogden and the crew, B. Favre line also was considered nice, the broncos who did Davis and Elway credit for their success nough said, Pats if you think it is not their line well you are out there, bucs may be your best argument because it was a patchwork of just hard workers with no real big name.

The Bucs are a big time argument and I will give that one to you, but the chiefs dont really work for me even though they are consistently good due to their trenchwork.

I doubt we'll get it but I never thought Google would go from $100 to $400. :offtopic

I have heard this sentiment from a couple people and am curious about it. A few different people have said something to the effect of "I don't see us competing for a championship next year, so I say let's draft Reggie". How does that logic work? Because we aren't going to make a Super Bowl run we should draft Reggie, whereas if we were ready to make a Super Bowl run we shouldn't get him? I think if anything it would be the opposite, if our team was solid but we were looking for that one more playmaker to get us over the edge and into the Super Bowl (like the Eagles two years ago and acquiring Terrell Owens) then draft Reggie, but since our team has many problems that need to be addressed and we won't be in the Super Bowl hunt next year, we should trade the #1 pick (assuming we can get a worthwhile deal out of it) to bring in multiple draft picks to start building this team for 2-3 years down the road when our current stars and the incoming players will start hitting their primes, and add some veteran players in the trade to help lead our team over the next couple years and mentor our young talent.

The therory by the Bush backers is "If we say he is worth..fill in a rediculouse number of picks" then he won't be traded away. If we do trade him then NO MATTER what we get the complaint will be "It wasn't enough". Personally, I have no problem with taking him as long as we pay attention to the O-line also, but all of this "He will cure cancer" type of hype is just rediculouse.

I still think Reggie will be a great pro but now am more conviced than ever that a trade down to net an extra 2 is prudent. There are a lot of great players in the draft and several good linemen that will make it to round 2. If we can beef up the line with D'Brick, Gilles/Joseph, and BPA (RD2 defense) to go along with our two high 3rds then this team would definitely be on the mend. If somehow we get an elite lineman via FA then 2 of the first 3 could go towards the D side of the ball.

I've chilled out a bit from my prior demands and feel like a move to 4-6 to pick up an extra 2nd this year and next seems very fair and prudent considering all the holes we need to fill.

Preach if we can move down and get Winston, Gilles/Joseph, and Manny Lawson. I think we are in a good spot. I agree that we may need to go farther toward defense since interior OL can be found deeper in the draft. A next year's pick is always hard to do, but if we can acquire a next years first we are sitting quite nice. Here is to hoping that Al Davis or GB wants someone very high.

I was thinking Raiders or Jets were the most likely candidates for a nice trade. If NY can give up a 1st for Doug Jolley albeit a lower #1 pick then surely they'll give up a future #1 for Reggie. I definitely think Al owes us after PB and hopefully he thinks swindling us again for a future pick would top things off. He would love the pub so I wouldn't be surprised if that happens either. I know your sold on Winston it's just good to know if we move down and say Tennessee picks D'Brick then a hopefully elite lineman will still be there. Whatever happens improvement has got to be on the way!

I Was hoping the Rose Bowl would have this effect on posters, and it seems to have opened some opinions up. I'm not saying Reggie, Leinart, and Vince won't be great players, but it seems to be making people realize that one guy is not necessarily the "only reasonable pick" and that more things are involved in improving a team. I've always been in the trade down camp, and I haven't tried to push people towards blindly taking that stance, but doing what the Rose Bowl did so much better, hoping people actually think through their opinions regardless of which side they are on. That said, I still like the Cardinals option best in this poll. I don't know if they'd offer Adrian Wilson, but we could add extra picks instead of him, and I think they may be open to giving up Leonard Davis. This trade would still likely leave us in place to grab Eric Winston, so with trading the #1 pick off, we could bring in Eric Winston to be our stud RT/future LT, Leonard Davis who is a mammouth of an OG, add extra picks that we could use to bring in Davin Joseph or Max Jean-Gilles for the other OG spot, and add some defensive help.

I agree, I think the Jets would be the most likely trade candidates. They will be looking for a replacement for Curtis Martin or if Pennington isn't going to be healthy enough to carry the team into the future they would look for a QB first, and with Leinart and maybe Young there as very good options. I think the Jets would like to trade up to #1 so they have all those options available to them, and we could move down to #4 so we still have our choice of anyone left in the draft, pick up probably a 2nd and 4th this year and either a 1st next year or a 2nd next year and add John Abraham to be a nice DE for us if we switch to a 4-3.

I like the idea of dealing with Detroit - but I would demand a different WR - Roy Williams.

#1
for
#9, 2nd round pick and Roy Williams

I think Detroit is desperate enough for another shot at a real qb that they might make this deal.

After watching the Rose Bowl - the top 3 picks are close in value. Bush is not the runaway pick I though he would be - but that amazing speed of his would be sweet to have.

Trading with the Jets has been suggested a lot - and if they pick up a couple of extra picks for Herm (maybe a 3 and a 4), then they could put together an interesting package. The temptation to bring a Vince Young into New York will be strong - so they have a young qb to draw fans back from the Giants and Eli.

Think about how happy Tennessee is today (assuming Vince goes pro), that 3rd pick is either Lienert, Bush or Vince - pretty sweet for a 3rd pick.

What I am thinking of right now is not only the draft but free agency and who is available. Here is what I think we could possibly do.

WR
Resign Jabar Gaffney
Sign Eric Moulds

TE
Sign Stephen Alexander

C
Sign LeCharles Bentely

Trade #1 Pick to Arizona for 10th overall, their 2nd rounder (42nd overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and Leonard Davis and Adrian Wilson

This would give us 2 top offensive lineman, a great Safety. We would also get a decent TE and another good receiver. This scenario ideally would address 6 different needs that the team needs. We could possibly even trade their 2nd rounder and our 3rd rounder to Denver for a first rounder this year too.

I like the idea of trading with the 49ers. We get their 1st and second round picks this year and their second round pick next year and julian peterson.
With the seventh pick in the draft one of these players would still be available. Obviously these three would already be gone.
Reggie Bush
Vince Young
Matt Lienart

Dbrick
Mario Williams
AJ Hawk
Jimmy Williams
Take whoever is left.

Woah... if the 49 ers do that then somethings wrong with them. Peterson is one of the best Lb's in the leauge

I really doubt the 49ers would trade because they are in the rebuilding process too and will be looking to add good players thru the draft, not trade away extra picks and their few good veterans. I wish they would trade, but I don't see it happening. The Jets are the most likely team to trade with us, any of the others that I put on this likst I don't really see trading all the way up to #1, but if we can trade with the Jets and move down to #4 then we might be able to trade down a second time with one of the other teams on this list.

They MIGHT. Seems Peterson is wanting Fort Knocks(sp) like money and has been a bit of a complainer, not that we would give him that either.

I may be off my rocker, but I can't see Bush as one of the greatest in the last 25 years. I just can't

I'd rate Bo Jackson (at the least) better than Bush ..and I could name a few more RB

Take Bush #1,Trade DD for a 2nd and 4th rd pick, trade G, walker for an OL,trade Moreancy for a 4th rd pick, and draft David Thomas TE (UT),then trade Bruener.Use the free agent market to help on OL.Bush is going to be special keep him at all cost.Who do yall want for defensive coordinator,i would like to see Mike Singeltary.:yahoo:

I don't know of any team that would give up a 2nd and 4th for Domanick Davis, I doubt anyone would trade us for Gary Walker, plus that puts a huge cap hit on us, I don't know why we'd trade Morency, and I definitely don't see anyone trading us anything for Mark Bruener. Singletary would be nice as defensive coordinator, but I doubt he leaves his current coordinator spot to come here.

but gary walker and DD are both rated above 85 on madden.

the oakland trade makes the most sense but take the player out and add 2 additional late draft picks...i think the team according to what i am hearing from around the country that houston needs to evolve more in depth they have a nice young nucleus but inadequate players behind starters....lets continue to build the franchise to be the best for a long time not a fast car that hits the wall after a good season look at baltimore....evaluate the defense again we are changing to a 4-3 overall this is a good representation of decent trade offers thanks for taking the time

great post, i'm for trading down.

1) Trade with the Titans: Trade the 1st overall for the 3rd overall, their 2nd rounder (35th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The Titans will be looking to dump some players including maybe Steve McNair and could be looking for their future QB, but there aren't really any players I'd want to take off their roster that they'd likely give up.

this one is weak, texans don't get all that much in return.

John Abraham would be a nice pickup from their team if we switch to a 4-3, or maybe Laveraneus Coles, which would give us a very good 4-3 DE or a very fast #2 WR.

a trade i'd probably be happy with, but not one of the better ones you posted.

2b) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall) and 4th rounder (100th overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and John Abraham or Laveraneus Coles.

meh, abraham would be good, i don't think coles and AJ would be a good fit.

If they got Nick Barnett, this trade would be one of the best.

3b) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 3rd rounder (69th overall), next year's 1st round pick, and Nick Barnett who is a solid MLB.

see above.

Robert Gallery would probably be a decent addition, but I don't see them giving him up, we could maybe add Doug Gabriel to the deal, which would give us an additional fast WR.

this is a decent trade, getting gallery would be huge but gabriel is a solid WR. getting gallery, this trade would be stupid not to make, getting gabriel is so so.

5) Trade with the 49ers: Trade the 1st overall for the 7th overall, their 2nd rounder (39th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The 49ers are in the rebuilding process and probably won't be looking to trade away too many picks, but they are interested in Bush and we could maybe snag a couple defensive players from them, Julian Peterson would be a great addition at LB, and Andre Carter would be a nice 4-3 DE.

peterson and carter are solid players but have injured pasts. no go on this one.

6) Trade with the Lions: Trade the 1st overall for the 9th overall, their 3rd rounder (73rd overall), next year's 2nd and 3rd round picks, and Charles Rogers and Marcus Pollard. The Lions made a mistake drafting a WR in the 1st round three straight years and are definitely looking for a QB to replace Harrington, so they could be interested in trading up to grab Leinart, and this trade gives us a good young WR (albeit injury-prone so far in his career), and a good TE.

no go on this one either.

Leonard Davis and Adrian Wilson would be awesome. At 10 they could most likely still grab winstrom. that'd be a solid OL right there with great d help. my favorite easily.
