Here is a preliminary look at possible trades for the #1 pick. I am a fan of trading down, but I will leave those preferences aside and just present some possible trade opportunities. I will make it into a poll so everyone can vote on what their preference for a trade would be, please no comments like "keep Reggie" or "we need Reggie" in this thread, just vote and comment on which of these trades would possibly be of interest to you:
1) Trade with the Titans: Trade the 1st overall for the 3rd overall, their 2nd rounder (35th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The Titans will be looking to dump some players including maybe Steve McNair and could be looking for their future QB, but there aren't really any players I'd want to take off their roster that they'd likely give up.
2a) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. The Jets could be interested in grabbing Leinart if Pennington won't recover, and could be looking at Bush to replace Curtis Martin. John Abraham would be a nice pickup from their team if we switch to a 4-3, or maybe Laveraneus Coles, which would give us a very good 4-3 DE or a very fast #2 WR.
2b) Trade with the N.Y. Jets: Trade the 1st overall for the 4th overall, their 2nd rounder (36th overall) and 4th rounder (100th overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and John Abraham or Laveraneus Coles.
3a) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 2nd rounder (37th overall), and next year's 1st round pick. The Packers could be looking to move up and grab Bush as a replacement for Ahman Green, and the only player on their team that they might give up that I'd be interested in would be Nick Barnett.
3b) Trade with the Packers: Trade the 1st overall for the 5th overall, their 3rd rounder (69th overall), next year's 1st round pick, and Nick Barnett who is a solid MLB.
4) Trade with the Raiders: Trade the 1st overall for the 6th overall, their 2nd rounder (38th overall), and next year's 1st and 3rd round picks. The Raiders are looking for a new QB and may trade up to get Leinart, or could possibly be interested in Bush, but more likely Leinart. Robert Gallery would probably be a decent addition, but I don't see them giving him up, we could maybe add Doug Gabriel to the deal, which would give us an additional fast WR.
5) Trade with the 49ers: Trade the 1st overall for the 7th overall, their 2nd rounder (39th overall), and next year's 2nd round pick. The 49ers are in the rebuilding process and probably won't be looking to trade away too many picks, but they are interested in Bush and we could maybe snag a couple defensive players from them, Julian Peterson would be a great addition at LB, and Andre Carter would be a nice 4-3 DE.
6) Trade with the Lions: Trade the 1st overall for the 9th overall, their 3rd rounder (73rd overall), next year's 2nd and 3rd round picks, and Charles Rogers and Marcus Pollard. The Lions made a mistake drafting a WR in the 1st round three straight years and are definitely looking for a QB to replace Harrington, so they could be interested in trading up to grab Leinart, and this trade gives us a good young WR (albeit injury-prone so far in his career), and a good TE.
7) Trade with the Cardinals: Trade the 1st overall for the 10th overall, their 2nd rounder (42nd overall), next year's 2nd round pick, and Leonard Davis and Adrian Wilson. The Cardinals could be looking for Bush but would be more likely to trade up for Leinart, Davis is the only good player on the OL so I'm not sure they'd be willing to give him up but if Leinart grades out well enough it might happen. This would give us very good S that can cover and tackle, and a mammouth of a OG.
I don't guarantee any of these trades will be offered, but all are a relatively even value according to the draft pick chart. I just want to gather your thoughts on some of these trades that could potentially be offered, if you would accept any of the trades, and if so which would most interest you..
