He had Luck, a generational talent and Herbert one of the most physically gifted qbs in the NFL. Texans has Davis Mills.
But do you not see the plan laid out?He had Luck, a generational talent and Herbert one of the most physically gifted qbs in the NFL. Texans has Davis Mills.
He's just stating that Hamilton has failed with better, which is a fair argument. But do you not see the plan laid out?
Create mismatches. Running with power.
Being efficient on 3rd downs. Early down completions and shots down field.
I mean what, are you one of those "How do you plan to accomplish that?" Kind of people huh?
Thats every offensive coaches philosophy. Go read every oc motto. Tell me who the oline coach and rbs are and I will tell you if they can accomplish it. Other than that, and I like Pep, is just talk. BOB was gamelan offense which meant they weren't good at anything specific. I need to see the staple plays for Pep even if the don't have all the talent. If power means running into the hole and getting 2 yards, thats not a move. But do you not see the plan laid out?

And the last 4-5 games Mills improved immensely. He had Luck, a generational talent and Herbert one of the most physically gifted qbs in the NFL. Texans has Davis Mills.
But they showed growth. Go look at his stats. They were top level stats.Gotta fix the OL and find a couple of playmakers for Pep/Mills to grow in the offense.

We really need Mike Munchak to leave Denver and come to Houston, throw 2 million at him. Munchak has coached up 7 players to Pro Bowl. He is considered one of the best position coaches in the league. He was in Houston for 17 years, we need him back. How about Hines Ward as the Wide Receivers Coach? These two moves will move the offense to higher levels.
I’m a Texans fan. You might as well be speaking French saying these strange things.Create mismatches. Running with power.

Absolutely love that over the shoulder throwing motion. It was the same way I was taught to throw the ball. Anyone remember how short Bernie Kosar’s throwing motion made him?
Another off-season to gel with his team and hone some skills should sharpen him some more. And the last 4-5 games Mills improved immensely.

Gotta trade Derrick and get extra picks….Gotta fix the OL and find a couple of playmakers for Pep/Mills to grow in the offense.
I would of had no issue whatsoever with hiring Pep as HC.That's why I think with a commitment to giving Pep/Mills more protection and weapons the improvement we saw was just the tip of the iceberg.
Add an ol like Ikwonu or Neal and add another in the 3rd. Also add a TE in the draft and add a RB late in the draft. Then add another RB and a slot wr and Pep will show you what he and Mills can do together. The TE fa class is deep. I could see Caserio filling a need there.
I like the Lovie HC hire. But would have taken a chance on Pep as HC if I was McNair.
Of course I'm higher on Pep than most.
I would of had no issue whatsoever with hiring Pep as HC.
I like this move as Pep deserves this. I’m hoping he excels and grows into the next HC
I dunno. Sounds Greek to me.I’m a Texans fan. You might as well be speaking French saying these strange things.

If Mills develops & excels, Pep's likely gone for another HC gig elsewhere....He turned down the Panthers interview for OC..b/c he most likely will have a shot to land the HC spot once Matt Ruhle is fired next year. Among the other spots that could open up for him?
Dallas
Detroit
Indy
Seattle
Washington
Arizona........heard Kyler has pulled a DW4 and removed all things Cardinals from his social media profiles.
If Mills develops, then hopefully Pep will become the Texans HC in a couple of yrs.

I’m going to hold out on this one.Probably not going to happen this offseason.
He had 1 top offense 6pf 3yds, those other 2 years were 14-15, and when luck got hurt, in the 20s, then he got fired.
If you ask most Americans how many coasts there are on the North American Continent, the majority would reply 2. Therefore, any offense inspired from Pep should be named either third coast, gulf coast or other coast.
Why do you think he deserves a promotion?Pep's the person im happiest for & all this mess surrounding Flores' lawsuit and the Texans' subsequent hiring of Lovie is overshadowing this dude's deserved promotion. He's been due for some time to get another crack at OC and he more than any other candidate outside of Dennis Allen and Duece Staley & Eric Bienemy deserves a legit shot at HC. So obviously i'm hoping he does well, i'd like to see him get a gig whether its here or elsewhere.
Why do you think he deserves a promotion?
People seem to settle at their level after a while. Just like a bunch of coordinators try to be HCs, then realize they’re not HCs. Finish the rest of their careers as coordinators.
I’m not saying that’s the case with Pep, but if we don’t see them day to day, working with, collaborating with people, how do we really know?
He was OC in Indy… how’d that go without Andrew Luck? I personally didn’t like the offenses Luck ran. I don’t think he was ever asked to grow into an NFL QB.
I hope he’s a better OC now than he was with the Colts.
I didn't like the luck offense either. He got hit alot, but playmaker like him normally do. He had a healthy Luck for 2 yrs and they were avg 1st year and really good the 2nd..Why do you think he deserves a promotion?

So glad you were able to figure that out. Believe me, I'm happy the Texans fell into a competent OC.He was made the scapegoat for the team’s slow start in 2015 and wasn’t even afforded the opportunity to get them back on track…
Doesn't mean he tried to hire him as OC.Lovie sort of spoke to this with his relationship with Pep…said that he’d tried to hire him a few times at his stops but things just didn’t line up
I hope he has some input on running backs to target because that’s one of this team’s biggest weakness. The Texans have hired Raiders running backs coach Tim Berbenich as their new tight ends coach. Good combination of knowledge for the desired new offense.
The Saints already claimed the Gulf Coast offense and I don't think the Dirty Bay or Mississippi Mud offense has the same ring.Well, Galveston fans will be disappointed when they find out our new Texans team is anti-coastal.
None can run the Texans coast style. The Saints already claimed the Gulf Coast offense and I don't think the Dirty Bay or Mississippi Mud offense has the same ring.

A perfect blend of offense and defending in one.
The Texans are masters of this Offending play scheme we have used for many seasons.
"Flag football."
We either succeed or implode based on ref calls.
I'd love to be in a thread where some random poster dubs the team with something catchy and it sticks nationally. Truth is, there's nothing noteworthy about this offense or defense. Why bother?
We're just the Su-xans.

IIRC, Trent Richardson was having a lot of family problems, and couldn't keep his mind on the game. I think he had family coming out of the woodwork asking for money, and he was too nice to turn them down. Even with the big contract, he was essentially broke. There are two major reasons Pep’s offenses were pass heavy while in Indy.
1) The Colts traded a 1st round pick for massive bust Trent Richardson. He was supposed to be a workhorse bell cow RB but he averaged 2.9 and 3.3 ypc while in Indy. With the Colts lacking other options at RB that left reason 2…
2) They had Andrew Luck and a bust at RB. Of course they are going to ride Luck into the ground. It gave them the best chance to win.
