Official TexansTalk NFL 2010 Mock Draft

No RBs taken in the first 22 picks? That won't happen in real life. There'll be an RB or two taken before us at 20. Not that I care, because I want another defensive player in the 1st round anyway.

Ahhhh, a man after my own heart.

You can scheme a good offense, but you got to have talent on a defense.

Unless it is an otherworld talent like CJ Spiller.

CJ Spiller. Lock it up!

I usually do a pic and a writeup, however I'm on the iPhone and being a little rushed right now. Weatherspoon or Griffen were alternatives, but the monster value with spiller is too hard to pass on.

Hope you like it Harry!

Great pick, another weapon for McVickolb.

I just checked out the chargers message board, and they want mt. cody at 28 that way they can take ryan matthews at 40.

Does anyone here really think matthews will last till 40?

No way Mathews last til #40, S.D. will take a RB in the 1st if Mathews is available.

Whitehurst trade moves Seattle back to end of 2nd rd.

Tapp trade gives Seattle the Eagles 4th rd.pick.

25) Baltimore Ravens - Texan4Ever on the clock 10:10 pm

26) Arizona Cardinals - awtysst

27) Dallas Cowboys - Honoring Earl 34

28) San Diego Chargers - Shaft75

Texan4ever has 40 minutes. Should we discuss a potential pick?

Jermaine Gresham
Jared Odrick
Sean Weatherspoon

All would fit Baltimore IMO.

With the 25th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select...

Sean Weatherspoon, OLB

The Ravens need a CB but they can get one later on and a talented and productive linebacker like Weatherspoon is a perfect addition to the aging linebacking-corps of the Ravens. He can learn from Ray Lewis and become an impact player in the 3-4 scheme.

Really, is he going to play inside or out?

He is hardly a prototypical 3-4 OLB and your really going to draft a guy you'll have to teach to play inside?

I think Weatherspoon can do it. He has proven himself in a 4-3 defense, how hard could it be to play inside or outside in a 3-4? Ray Lewis is still on their team so he can tutor him and get him up to speed.

Transitioning outside to inside in a 4-3 is easier than outside in a 4-3 to inside in a 3-4.

He isn't a great pass rusher which hurts in a 3-4 system and the main reason he isn't great is that he has trouble getting off blocks. This become an issue in a 3-4 where he may have more OL to deal with and given his lack of ideal size for a 3-4 backer it may make this even more of an issue.

If anyone can do it Weatherspoon probably is that guy, I just think there were better options for the Ravens than LB.

CB was need but I felt that Weatherspoon was BPA.

He probably is BPA, it would have been a reach to go QB.

Why did you not go with the TE Gresham? He seems a popular pick for the Ravens.

He has injury issues and I rather not waste a pick on a TE unless he is the next Tony Gonzalez or whatnot. I think I can grab a TE in the later rounds.

I think it is a fine pick. Weatherspoon is a great athlete who should be able to transition to middle linebacker. And I agree that Gresham is a huge risk with his knee. I think the only other option at his pick was a Dlineman like Odrick, or a cornerback with Patrick Robinson and Devin McCourty.

Love Weatherspoon but I would've taken McCourty or Robinson.

The Ravens need secondary help badly and dont have picks in rds 3-4 due to the Boldin trade.

26) Arizona Cardinals - awtysst - on the clock 3/18/2010 10:30:00 AM:

27) Dallas Cowboys - Honoring Earl 34

28) San Diego Chargers - Shaft75

29) New York Jets - The Pencil Neck

30) Minnesota Vikings - rmartin65

31) Indianapolis Colts - Ole Miss Texan

32) New Orleans Saints - Texan In Japan

When you get to the 26th pick in the first round, you look for guys who are relentless. They may not be the most skilled, but they are the ones who lay it out on the line on every play. The Arizona Cardinals are fortunate such a player fell to us.

Since we are switching to a 3-4, it is imperative to have rush 3-4 LBs to rush the QB. We believe we have that guy. He has great moves and is relentless. As we all know sometimes its that second effort that gets to the QB or forces a bad throw. In our case, we do not have to worry about second efforts, becuase our guy will provide third and forth. We are fortunate that the 2nd rated 3-4 OLB on our board lasted all the way to 26.

So, without further ado, the Arizona Cardinals are proud to select Jerry Hughes- OLB TCU.

Dallas Cowboys are now on the clock.

I was hoping Hughes would fall to the Bucs in the 2nd rd.

Under the radar but a great pick. IMHO

you did a good job on this one, fast track guy in the desert :)

Jerry Hughes is from Texas, I went to high school with him in Sugar Land (Austin HS in Ft. Bend). Wasn't highly recruited and played RB but went to TCU, changed to DE and the rest is history...

Good character guy with blazing speed, just needs to work a little on fundamentals and a bit of coaching and he has a chance to be a stud.

San Diego Chargers select Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State

Could of gone with Odrick or McCourty but Matthews is hard to pass up with this pick. The Chargers have officially said houvre to LT.

It was interesting talking to the Jets fans about what their team wanted and needed.

This was their second highest priority but with the way the board fell, this was the best guy available that they needed.

With the 29th pick, the New York Jets draft

Jared Odrick, DE, Penn State

This is a guy that will thrive in Rex Ryan's defense.

This draft has taken a bad turn for the Vikings. I isolated their top needs as CB, FS, SS, DT, and OG. Those positions have been raided thus far. I do not feel confident selecting any player from those positions at this pick. Therefore, I select TCU linebacker Daryl Washington.

The Vikings ILB is coming off a nasty leg injury, Washington provides depth there. One of their starting OLBs is 31, and in a contract year. Washington will probably spend his rookie season as the primary backup for those two positions, and as a nickel backer. He is also capable of playing special teams.

31) Indianapolis Colts - Ole Miss Texan - on the clock - 3/19/2010 8:30:36 AM

32) New Orleans Saints - Texan In Japan

With the 31st selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Charles Brown, Offensive Tackle from Southern Cal.

ku1v7r-b78579814z.120091202161056000glsl62bn.1.jpg

"Peace out Cali... I'm going to Indy."

Reasoning: Indianapolis needs to improve their offensive line. Brown is great value at the end of the 1st and should be able to start at left tackle, pushing Charlie Johnson inside (RG also a need) where he's better suited. Peyton IS the team and must be protected at all costs. Ugoh has not panned out as planned.
