Official Texans vs Panthers- Austin Watch Party- Please sticky!

I loved that Asian guy who was sitting next to me. No idea who he was. Can't lipread Asians. No lips to read but if he reads this, THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING SO NICE TO MY BOY! I'd be proud to sit next to you anyday. You all rocked! We represented Texan nation with pride. I couldn't be any prouder of us all. Good job.

Haha, that was me. :shades: Your boy's cool.

AND WOWOWOWOWOW at how fun today's game was! I'll definitely be there for every away game! (Home games, I'll uh...be at Reliant. Hope y'all understand. :texflag: )

Everyone: it was great meeting y'all and celebrating the victory together! Wow, was that an experience! First time I've ever watched a game at a Sportsbar, and definitely the first time I've been able to do so with a bunch of rowdy Texans fans that could rival the Bullpen! :fans:

:splits: Weeeeeeeeeeh! Yeah, that'd be me. :doot:

What an amazing game! It was a blast there today. Bigwig and company, thanks for all the organizing and work you guys have done the past couple seasons. I think we've found our permanent home.

i couldn't and still cant get over what a great turnout we had. I'm not sure I'm going to get over how odd it feels boys! i'll say it again, I really hope everyone continues to come out for the televised games! Special thanks to Wig and RickyB. For the record I believe it was my crew that you're referring to as "The Other Rowdies"

I loved how everyone in the bar kept watching us and you could see the jealousy in thier eyes over how much fun we were having back there. See you guys next week.

Last week was a rough one for me and I didn't really feel like being social. I was about to go intrude at my in-laws' house so I could use their NFL Ticket. I came across some of these Austin threads and decided at the last minute to go to 3rd Base.

My Texans t-shirt has stains on it and my wife wouldn't let me leave the house with it. Somebody set a leaky pen on top of my Texans hat and I had to toss it. So I showed up wearing a Motorhead shirt and a Harley-Davidson hat. I'm a XXL if anyone wants to sell me an old Carr, Sharper, or Glenn jersey.

Awesome experience. I showed up right after kickoff and couldn't believe how many Texans fans there were in that bar. I only hoped that I would meet some people from this board.

It was great to finally meet all the guys that I've been posting with for the past 2.5 years. I've been looking forward to it for a long time.

Rick- Thanks for giving up the seat next to you for me. Otherwise, I would have been a wallflower in the main part of the bar wishing that I could hang out with the rabid fans.

KT- I owe you a few beers to say the least. Thanks. Hope to get you back soon.

BigWig- Thanks for carrying the torch all this time. Looks like it's finally starting to pay off.

Frosty- Get back on the board and check in sometime.

Rockabilly- Cool hanging with you. Cool story about Lemmy from Motorhead. I think we'd have a lot to talk about in another setting.

Axman- You probably would have got my seat at the table if you showed up 10 minutes earlier. I hope that you knew the people you went and sat with. If not, I hope you know them now.

Spec- It's cool knowing somebody else in my line of work. Hopefully, we'll be able to help each other out sometime.

Also good to meet Nitro and hookinreds. I know there were plenty of other people from this board there, but I just didn't really get a chance to meet them.

I just remembered that I'll be in Florida next weekend, so I'll be missing out on the festivities next week. My dad will be in Texas the following week, so maybe I'll try to bring him around then.

Good God I had fun. My boss is happy that I cant hardly talk, WTF is up with that?

DH Chris, glad to have met you.

Nitro - good meeting you as well and people were not starring to be rude. It was that they did not understand. when they put the CC on the tv some people got a little upset but I explained it to a lot of them and they were totaly understanding.

Mr White damn straight we will get to gether again when a game is not on.

RickyB you forgot about Belinda. Smokin. Yes Luara was great as always and of the hugs she needed when her Saints got stomped, I was only to happy to be there to console her.

Axman, Barrett, Hookinred, Ensign Lee, Atrain and all the others whom I can't recall off the top of my head.

Hey Bigwig, I can't remember but who is the lady that was sitting at the front of our table? She has a great since of humor.

Again I know I am forgetting people, including the handful of those that I met who are new to the boards and who have not posted much or at all.

Hell yeah I will be there next week.

Gary Vinson can kiss my ASS.

To quote my New Yorker friend who was with us - "You've never watched football until you've watched it at a bar in Texas." :)

We made quite the impression! Having a winning team is great; having a great bunch to watch the games with makes it that much better. :fans:

That was an awesome turnout, and LOUD LOUD LOUD!!! Either someone was taking pictures, our I was on the edge of a blackout from screaming so hard, but I definitly saw some flashes. If it was pictures...post 'em!

I know there were some out-of-towners in there but only got to meet one (I think), and I can't remember her name, just kept calling her "Roady".

Nitro, it was good see your family out there, I explained the situation to some others as well about the captioning and they all understand, and for the most part, if anyone was looking your way it was to join in on what you were yelling. Between you and Ensign, your table was ROWDY!

I can't remember if it's FirstTexansfan or Texansfan#1 that was at the table between me BigWig's table but which ever it was, way to bring the family out! My Bronco buddy that was there told me to tell the girl in the Oakland jersey, "better luck next time" (all in fun). My aplogies, if some verbal vomit spilled out of my pie hole during the game. I made my best effort to keep it civil, but fear that one or two tacky phrases might have rolled across the lips.

To sum up it all up, I would like to quote the guy that was sitting directly behind me after being at 3rd Base for the first time..."the game will be telivised next week, but there's no way in hell I'm watching it home, this is awesome!" Fella...you couldn't have said it any better, and I hope you are back next week...I'll keep the light on for ya.

Props to all...suggestion for next week is to make the rounds through out the building to make sure we include any Texan brethren that didn't get a seat in "the room" in our chants/cheers and perhaps some road trip high fives to the other part of the building.

We had a blast!!!! my daughter was the one in the TEXANS t-shirt and she wanted to bring her school friends (the girl in the Oakland shirt, and the boy that was with us) to show them that the Texans fans are out in force in Austin Texas. On the way to drop her friends off they told us they couldn't believe how many Texans fans were out there and how well the Texans are playing. Young Texans fans???? maybe??????

Got to get liking the Texans before they latch on to the cowgirls.

I do believe that was me. Thanks! :D

Hey, FTM. RickyB (Rick) here. I was the guy in the blue Hula Hut t-shirt sitting at your table. Good to meet you. Bring your friends. Come early, stay late. Drink and eat often. Stay loud.

Late,
RickyB

PS: To anyone who cares to "listen" -- tonight is the first night in about 2 weeks, The Boy has gone to sleep on time. Of course, as I type those words, his little synapses are probably firing, and he'll soon awaken to prevent Daddy from sleeping. ha. :)

Yo, hookin. If you are referring to the woman I think you are, then that was Melinda (with an "M", Spec. :user: ). She was from Houston.

I told Melinda to join the board. She said that our little gang at 3B was better than anything in Houston. Think about that, and let that soak in.

Late,

My Fellow Rapid Texanators,

I just got an email from Bill at 3B. The short of it: they are very, very PLEASED with our relationship, and want to know if we are as "happy as they are"?

So. What say ye? :fans: :superman:

Let's keep it going!! This is friggin' awesome. (Can I say friggin' on a family board? :texflag: )

Damn I would have sworn it was ..... oh well.

I could see where she was sitting from our table and she was getting into the whole Houston .......... Texans chant and the first down yells.

I am very happy with Third Base.

Personally, I loved Third Base. I thought the staff there was flatout OUTSTANDING. I did have a few glitches though but nothing that would make me want to leave Third Base. Service is key and they met our demands in a big way.

Here are my glitches... Me and my girlfriend had to pay for parking (we drove in separate cars. she came straight from Church and I came straight from home). Immediately after arriving, I turned in my 10 dollar parking voucher to our waitress. I still had Mary Jane's voucher in my pocket so when it was time to ask for the check, I had to stand my ground and state that I had already turned in MY voucher but not Mary's since she arrived late. The waitress (rightfully so) may have thought that I was trying to pull a fast one and said that I had never given her my voucher which I did. After insisting that I did, she said no problem and took care of it. No big deal BUTTTTT this is where I have a problem with Third Base....

When I go to bars, I like to open up a tab and just run it with my Visa card but because I had to pay for parking with cash... My total check after 20 dollars was deducted from it was.... eighty cents. Yeah, eighty cents. I had like two dollars cash in my pocket and I certainly was not going to give our waitress a $1.20 tip! I guess I'm just trying to say that I hated having to sign a CC slip of eighty cents. Don't worry. I tipped her ten on the bill but stilllll. Can we just not have to pay for parking upfront? I understand they're trying to keep the riff raff out or whatever their reasons are. Both me and Mary's cars are plastered with Texans stickers. We both wear our Texan gear proudly. Shouldn't that be enough confirmation for the parking garage attendant to ensure that we ARE going to Third Base? I know I'm just nitpicking a little but I don't like to carry a whole lot of cash on me. Sometimes my bill is just 20 bucks but there will be days that it's gonna be a cool hundred when I get some alcohol in me. I had my boy with me so I did not drink. He will not be coming next week so my check is definitely going to be bigger.

OH YEAH. Third Base rocks. I'm real glad they were happy with us. Maybe they could try and rearrange the tables a little better? Take the large round table out? The guy who was sitting behind me got abused severely by me and Ensign_lee unintentionally. I felt bad for him. It was just cramped and a waste of space. Have them to take the round tables out and put in the square ones.

My complaints aside, I was real happy with them. Very. Proud. To. Call. THIRD BASE. The. Texans. Official. Viewing. Location.

The having to pay for parking was only because of the ACL festival. normally there is no charge for parking.

You think you had it bad, I had $7 cash in my pocket and I thought for a second the guy was not going to let me park. I was going to be so FUBARed it was not even funny, if he would not have let me park. He was cool and let me park after I explained my situation.

Sorry for the small problem with the parking it was an unexpected fee that I am sure no one was really ready for.

One more thing, since they're asking... maybe it's time to get a drink special started for Texan fans.

I had an amazing time. It was so great. They had all the glitches that I had a problem with fixed, and the staff was friendly and very attentive. So - to answer the question - a resounding thumbs up and yeah, I'm as happy with them as they were with us.

I was the one taking pictures - but there's a problem with the memory stick. I should have them ready to post before the end of the work week.

I think it makes sense to go ahead and get the monitors all showing the Texans on the West and East wall. We're all facing one of two ways for the most part. They can stick an odd game on the sides maybe. Also, lets get the sound and captioning thing worked out ahead of time. Really though, I'm digging for suggestions. I had beer when I wanted it. I had my hangover concoction without asking, I had a room full of Texans to high five... I had a chair that I wasn't sitting in.... I'm good. I'll see ya'll on the 30th.

Finally! Got my login to work...

All I can say is WOW, 3base is great... Really enjoyed meeting all you guys (and gals)... Rickyb, Spec, KT, Nitro and the many folks I chatted with..what a hoot!!!

Not sure if I will make the Colts game, looking like weekend work for me.. BUT, things do change...

Is Bill the Manager? So can they reserve the back for us on a weekly basis?

I'm very pleased with Third Base. So long as the game is on, the sound works, and the beer is cold I think we're good! See y'all Sunday!

This weekend was an exception for parking due to ACL Fest. 3B implented this parking fee for this weekend only, to encourage ACL-goers to park elsewhere and thereby keeping the spaces available for 3B Patrons.

Parking is free. Be so assured. :)

Primary PoC
Bill is the Audio/Visual Manager and is my primary point of contact at Third Base. Bill is empowered to make any decision he feels necessary to make sure patrons, Texans fans or otherwise, have a fantastic experience. He's done great, and is proactive about soliciting feedback from us.

Parking
Will be free. ACL Weekend was an exception.

Back Room
As Spec says, Bill confirms the back room is for Texans fans for all 12 noon games. I have the open action to work with Bill on finding a solution for 3pm games.

TV Placement
Great idea on choosing East/West walls for Texans games, and choose the side screens for alternative games. I will mention it to Bill.

Beer Special
Nothing yet committed. I made a proposal yesterday, and am awaiting feedback.

Surprises
I don't want to misset anyone's expectations, but I did throw a couple of ideas toward Bill for his consideration. If he approves, then I think our experience will be enhanced further.

Looking out for us all! Geaux Texans.

Rickyb

Wonder if they have any thoughts about shading some of the windows. It would help the big screen for sure and be a little easier on the eyes. Just my .02
