What to watch...
1. Running back rotation:
Akeem Hunt, Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Kenny Hilliard, Tyler Ervin
Only 2, possibly 3 of the 5 can remain on the roster. Who will show enough?

2. Savage Improvement: How much will he improve? “I’d just like to see steady improvement from him,” O’Brien said.

3. Weeden’s return: He’ll likely get the most playing time he’s had since December 27th, when he guided the Texans to a 28-point victory at Tennessee.

4. Fourth pass rusher: With Clowney, Mercilus and Simon locking up their OLB spots, who will be the 4th? Brennan Scarlett, an undrafted rookie from Stanford, has rung up eight total tackles, a pair of sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble this preseason. He’s in position to snag a roster spot if he continues to make plays.

5. Big returns: Last Sunday against Arizona, Ervin broke loose for a 58-yard kickoff return. He’d battled with the likes of Hunt, Wendal Williams and Braxton Miller over the course of camp and the preseason games. Who will break out?

GO TEXANS!!!!!

7 1/2 more hours until the Texans take the Boot!
Hope everyone enjoys the game. We won't get to see any starters, but it should be very entertaining to watch all those trying to win a spot on the roster. Root for your favorites and have fun!

Thank God the preseason is almost over.

Interesting that it's not updated...over 80 players on each team.
If you look at the opening of this thread, there is an updated depth chart for each team. Just click each link. Is it completely accurate? Doubtful. The Texans depth chart has Bergstrom as the starting center.
Take a look. It's right under What You Need To Know.

I was making an observation that the Texans media team hadn't updated their cards for the media, nothing more.

I believe it is actually the home team that creates these. They hand these out at the game printed on a heavy card stock, at least on the club level. The printing deadline was probably before all cuts were official.

Why tonight's game matters!

Of course the game matters to us fans simply because we HATE the Cowgirls! And any win over them is a great win!

Well, I'm not one of them. Winning or losing is no nevermind to me in the preseason. I'm watching my players & I want to be assured they have the talent to be competitive.

I'm not a Cowboy hater, & winning in the preseason means nothing especially when they keep spanking us in the regular season. That whole division really. We need to change our regular season records against the NFC East.

Brother. It's time for major change. The AFC South could actually become relevant and create some really good rivalries. The Texas rivalry has always been Houston vs Dallas. Those pompous white collar Dallas people have been getting on the last nerve of this great blue collar Houston people for years. It's really time for the tide to change. I'm a Houstonian and a Texans fan. The Cowboys will always be the enemy. Any win over them, no matter how small, is a moral victory.

I'm a Houstonian and Texans fan and I honestly couldn't give the first turd what happens 250 miles north of here any more than I could any other direction. They're really just 1 of 31 teams potentially in the way.

And I don't understand what a 'moral victory' in the 4th week of the preseason is supposed to even mean.

I'm not from Texas so don't have beef with Dallas.

Was never an Oilers fan so don't hate the Titans.

I see the Colts as our nemesis.

Sadly I probably feel the most competitiveness for the Jags.

I can dig it. Just enjoy the game and root for those you'd like to see make the team. Have fun brother.

We are 2 1/2 hours away from game time so.......LLLLLLLLLET'S GET READY TO RRRRRRRUMBLLLLLLE!!!

I wish we played Dallas in preseason Week 3 of each year, but that's another thread. I just hope we get out with no injuries to the Texans and no REAL injuries (:D) to that other team, whatever their name is.

I know the game is meaningless. The cowboy fans i work with dont. I don't wanna hear about it. Need win.

This is my biggest concern. I know most, if not all, that are playing will be backups and guys trying to make the team, but it seems those guys that are trying to make the team are going to go all out and leave everything on the field, and that can be bad for some of those backups (See Savage last season.) that already know they are on the team. Those players, in their zeal, trying to get a spot on the team sometimes get sloppy in their play or they go so hard and so fast they are out of control, and that's where the injuries can start to come in. I know everyone wants to see players give it their all and big hits are fan favorites, but at the same time this is a preseason game and I don't want to see any of the Texan players get knocked out for the season (Savage last year) or worse, have a career ending injury. So, I'm just hoping for an injury free game.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but since the end of last season I've revisited my "hatred" for the Dallas Cowboys, and wondered why the hell do I hang on to it?

I couldn't come up with a valid answer.

In fact, one could argue that anyone in the great state of Texas should root for both teams when they are not playing one another, because one is in the NFC and the other the AFC. Therefore, most of the time, there is not a conflict of interest.

Now, it's true that there is a difference in mentality between the two cities (if you allow it). It is also true that Dallas has a crap ass owner, but equally true that we had our own shitheel in Bud Adams (who was pretty entertaining until he decided to pull stakes).

In all fairness - if there is such a thing as "fair" - I believe there is quite a bit of jealousy from Houstonians leveled at Dallas. Dallas has Superb Owl championships, while we have zero. We probably could have kicked their asses in 1960 - 1962, had there been a Superb Owl, but that's a candyland fantasy.

In sum, I hate the star in their helmets; I wouldn't want to live in Dallas; their owner is a jackwagon, and their cheerleaders, as a group, have always been better than ours, but hell, this is Texas, and we're the best motherfucking state in the union; we have the best college recruits, and since all of these players are guns for hire anyway, I'm wondering what's the big deal.

It may take me a few years to actually wrap my head around rooting for Dallas, and I'll never own a cap with a star on it, but I'm not letting the anger flow through me, young Skywalker.

Hail Texas!

Kudos on a superb post

The Texas rivalry has always been Houston vs Dallas.

It is really a rivalry? The Texans have played the Cowboys just 4 times in 16 seasons. And since they don't play each other again until 2018, it will be 4 times in 17 seasons.

The Oilers and Cowboys went at it just 8 times in 27 years (1970-1996).

I wouldn't call that a rivalry. Certainly not like Oilers vs. the old AFC Central from yesteryear. Those were some rivalries where you could work up some good old fashioned hate.

This Houston/Dallas thing is more about their delusional, obnoxious as **** fans that all live here than anything. A Texans win tonight and it's just a pre-season game from those fans. A Cowboys win and it's make room for trophy number 6. But a rivalry for what goes on on the field between the 2 teams, not even close IMO.

OMG this is so true.

We have one of those at our work. He is so obnoxious with his fanaticism of the Cowboys.

Is this the last time we see Savage play in a Texans uniform?

I hope so. I prefer Weeden. OB really dropped the ball on the Savage pick. There years in and Savage hasn't showed jack. I understand why he was drafted, but pretty soon it's time to cut bait.

That screen was well done. TD Cowboys.

Way to go Hilliard. That's what happens when you don't hold on to the ******* football.

I don't care if this is the 4th preseason game... I want to beat the Cowboys.. without Fuller or Miller on the field though it reminds me of last year's offense... no speed. Oh yeah, **** you Hillard
