**Official Game-Day Thread** Chiefs at Texans - Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016!!

Yep a great win over a great opponent. We could have done much better but props to KC, their defense is great too and they were missing one of their best players.

Ugly win against what's supposed to be a good defense.

I'll take it 2-0..... whoooooooo

We need to do a better job keeping the DL fresh. Be it rotating bodies or the offense sustaining drives. Seems like we were on defense a lot.

I noticed that too. Seems our guys were burnt towards the end. We need to do a better job of resting watt (coming off surgery), Clowney (coming off injury) wilfork (old).

Did you see when Vince got pancaked? Maaaaaaan, that hurt my feelings.

In a battle of two really good defenses, ours was a little better. Whoo hoo! 2-0. The Chiefs demon was exorcised.

Now we have a quick turnaround this week so we need to consider rotating more liberally on both sides of the ball. I literally hate Thursday games, but it is what it is.

We may have caught a huge break. It looks doubtful to say the least that Jimmy G can play. With our D balling the way it is, we've got a better than 50/50 shot of leaving NE 3-0 and also knocking off a conference contender. Could be the difference in home field way down the road.

Another FYI..........Garoppolo curiously is in the hospital after an x-ray that has shown no clavicular fracture. He'll probably receive an MRI. I'd say the most likely injury is A/C shoulder separation or shoulder dislocation with possible labrum tear, but that does not typically require hospitalization.

Very disappointed in the coaching decisions to end the half. O'Brien should've declined the holding penalty. That would've given Clowney a sack (I'd be upset) and made it 3rd down with the clock stopped, and we'd still have a time out. All this inside their 20.
Then he throws the same play twice to what, kill time? They were sitting on the sidelines, he should've had at least one route over the interior. 13 seconds is plenty of time to pick up 5-7 yards for fieldgoal range and spike it.

Overall a solid (but ugly) game, and it's nice to finally take down the Chefs. Great googaly moogaly.

Oh and this whole what's a catch thing is getting out of hand. We got jobbed twice. The first time the ref described it as didn't complete the catch because of going to the ground - wrong call, he didn't make it to the ground before the ball was knocked out.
Hopkins had 2 knees inbound when the ball was in his hands.

Ok guys, I've ordered the pizza. What time do the Texans and Chiefs kickoff tonight? (kidding)

As the game unfolded I shared many of the thoughts in this thread. I thought of the Kubiak days too often to be comfortable.

One bad play call of the many I didn't like was Houston's first play after a KC turnover with about 1:40 to go in the half. Houston ran it up the middle for no gain. The previous turnover within range of a Houston score resulted in a quick strike from Osweiler on (I believe) the first play from scrimmage. That call seemed to deflate the Texans momentum almost before the drive was started. It was all FG's after that.

The announcers weren't that good either. It seemed everytime Houston had the ball the crowd, as they should, quieted down. The announcers were incredulous at how quiet the building was. Then toward the end of the game with the Chiefs in possession and the game in the balance they thought the fans magically woke up. Don't these guys know a knowledgeable fanbase when they see one??

Anyone know what our practice schedule looks like with this shortened week?

I'm guessing medical, film, and a walk through.

Coach said they travel on Wednesday to Foxborough. They only have monday and tuesday for recovery, film and walk through. No day off on Tuesday either.

Chiefs are considered by many to be AFC favorites.

I think we just gave proof we're going to be in the conversation.

Uh... I mean, I play fantasy & all, but c'mon!!

AFCWest favorites, maybe. But Favorites in the AFC over the Patriots, Steelers, & Bengals, I don't think the Chiefs would be favored to beat any of those teams. They weren't even favored to beat us.

We did cover the spread by the way.

Is there a rules change? Why wasn't there a 10-second clock runoff after all those KC penalties on the last drive?
