Not if he leaves on his own volition as you suggest. If Nick walks, he forfeits his salary. It's guaranteed.
Those New England guys can always go back... it's like home. He & Eliot Wolfe could share stories about what almost was.
The same way the McNairs were endeared to Jack is the same they were endeared to Lovie. Lovie isn't so much interested in getting them fired as he is in having full control of all football operations. In order for Lovie to take the job, Lovie insisted on doing it his way, not Nick Caserio's or Jack Easterby's way. I imagine the McNairs made it clear with a full understanding that the contracts for the New England dynamic duo were too expensive to eat.If Lovie has taken over like you said, it doesn't matter what good graces Jack is in. He'd be gone. I can't imagine anyone with the leverage you're pretending not demand Easterby to be gone as well.
Therefore, a promise that the duo would be marginalized to stay out of Lovie's way was made instead. The overall behavior of the people involved since Lovie has been hired certainly seems to bear this out. Personal behaviors and language have certainly changed. As explained earlier, the dynamic duo know that it is in their best interest to join Lovie's team and be a team player. It may not be what they wanted it to be, but it is much better than anything else they've on the horizon. Trust me, you wouldn't walk away from $25 million either.
