It is inconvenient to think that @steelbtexan and others are actually right. Can’t gloss over it and stick our heads in the sand.
There are two things here. The rumor that "the family" wanted Stroud (or a QB). And the assertion that Janice and Hannah McNair force C.J. Stroud specifically against the will of Cal, Nick, and DeMeco. All at the suggestion of an unknown fan committee that officially had not been selected. I believe ownership wanted a QB. That was the rumor prior to the end of the 2022 season. It's impossible to infer from Wilson's remarks that he is even aware of the "Hannah Conspiracy."Dude you made it sound like it was facts. Stop it bro. Lol then talking about someone was right.

Man don’t insult my intelligence. You know wtf you was doing and alluding to. But hey you can have itDude, work on your reading comprehension bro.
Agreed 1000%Everyone is going to give their input on picks... OC wants offensive guys, DC wants defensive guys, HC wants players in position of need, Owners wants guys that puts butts in the seats. But at the end of the day, it's Caserio's call. I don't know why that's so difficult to comprehend?
If Stingley ends up being a bad pick, Caserio deserves some of the blame, regardless if it was Lovie that was begging for him.

If you think WAJr is a generational talent you do whatever you can to get himWhen the Texans send nearly the same level of pick back as they received from Arizona along with the already given #12 and #33, the fault of this move will be obvious as Arizona will be drafting a cornerstone player too with the added bonus of two premium picks for taking advantage of the Texans ridiculous need to speed the clock up by one year.
A rebuilding team can’t fill every hole in one year, it’s short sighted to use future assets let alone their most valuable future asset at a discount to accomplish this. So if it’s such a great move why does Arizona do the trade? Don’t they like cornerstones? They are rebuilding too, they sure could use WAJ, but they probably jumped at the opportunity to net those picks and were shocked by their luck, the Texans seem to do the opposite of what rebuilding teams should be doing.

I'm just glad for the 1st time the GM/HC are working together.Firing anyone casts a negative image on the franchise. Right now, the Ryans hiring and the Stroud & Anderson selections have put the team on the upbeat. Winning games would help even more. But firing Caserio would be a negative. It's not necessary at this time. Frankly, I don't really know what Caserio has or hasn't done. But the organization isn't at a tipping point to where a decision on Nick's future has to be made. He's here at least thru 2024.
You sound like a film critic that writes his review before he sees the movie. I like the previews. Can't wait to see the whole show. The Texans may not reach the level of rebuilding expertise of the Arizona Cardinals . But let's see how it works out before trashing the trade. When the Texans send nearly the same level of pick back as they received from Arizona along with the already given #12 and #33, the fault of this move will be obvious as Arizona will be drafting a cornerstone player too with the added bonus of two premium picks for taking advantage of the Texans ridiculous need to speed the clock up by one year.

Watt was a very good college player, but he wasn't on the level of WA. Remember, Watt was booed when drafted. No one foresaw him becoming the monster he did. Anderson had sack numbers to rival Derrick Thomas and that's who he reminds me of.in 2023, he gave up a huge future asset to go get Will Anderson. Very ballsy move. But I’ve said all along Anderson isn’t a Watt level impact player. His floor is very high, so I think he will be a player..,but a Watt level guy? Seriously doubtful. And that’s the only way I make that move.

Was Watt a Watt level impact player when he was drafted? Considering he went 11th I'm guessing no. Hell, his brother went 30th.
So just because you've said it all along, that's far from making it so. JJ didn't get his 1st sack until his 3rd game and had 2 in his 1st 9 games. Anderson got 1 in game #1. You just don't know how it's going to turn out.
Caserio is on his 3rd year of a 6 year contract. He's going to be here through2026.
For the past three years the team has been in turmoil with three coaching changes and ownership taking a heavy hand. Now in 2023 the organization seems to finally have gotten everything together and we have a coaching staff in place everyone, including the fans, are positive about.
Stingley and Green were mistakes under the previous regime that as fans we're just going to have to accept. These two mistakes should have no permanent blame or impact on Caserio. Water under the bridge and now we go forward under DeMeco.
The 2023 draft was, hopefully, the last draft ownership got involved in. Caserio seems to have done a masterful job, despite some fan disagreement, in dealing a one two punch that gave everyone what was wanted. Again hopefully, going forward, the organization, and drafts, will be conducted more normally. Caserio and Ryan seem to work well together. Now Caserio's job will be to get the players to fit DeMeco's team. Again for the third time, hopefully all will have learned from past mistakes.

Didn't you say the Texans should win 10 games this season?I think you missed his point.
What was the point of speeding up the clock when you were going to be bad anyway?
That's what I wantedIf he’s a generational talent you draft him at 2. And draft a QB later.

And if they don’t it’s Stroud’s fault.Didn't you say the Texans should win 10 games this season?

You're just letting your hate of Caserio close your mind to what Anderson can be. Ryans loves him some Will Anderson Jr. and that's good enough for me.
You can't isolate the deal to move up to Anderson alone, because Stroud/Anderson was a package deal.
Absolutely! Just how it should beI think that was DeMeco's guy and Nick did whatever it took
If the OL stayed healthy and Stroud played reasonably well.
Yep we could haveThis is the thing I think people completely miss.
If the scouting staff and coaching staff graded him as generational (which it's hinted that they did) you go get them.
You don't see it often because the team who has the opportunity to draft said player usually doesn't trade out of that opportunity. That said Anderson wasn't universally viewed as generational so it makes sense why Arizona was more interested in accruing draft capital. Time will tell for Anderson but early signs are good.
Absolutely! Just how it should be
Kicking the the can down the road is quite different from showing patience. The Texans are and will pay the price for their impatience. No one knew the O-line would be in this state at the time if the draft. Kicking the can down the road was over when Ryans was hired. Everyone knew that, including Caserio.
Because people believe the Texans are serious about winning. That's what these "moves" translate to & shows some sense of urgency. I agree with you, firing Caserio right now would send mixed signals.Right now, the Ryans hiring and the Stroud & Anderson selections have put the team on the upbeat.

He was knee capped. They call the title general manager for a reason. If his only job is to carry the water for the coaches, then Texian is right, he’s a errand boy, a file clerk or whatever label might apply.
I’m not saying don’t collaborate, but as GM he must keep the bigger picture in mind and make the final calls. These draft picks, coaching hires, trades, etc…are on his record.
Some of us here want to hold his feet to the fire. Others find excuses. His record to date is miserable. If there’s a worse GM in football, I’d like to know who.
He was knee capped.
Ryans has the final say
When Hannah isn't sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong.
you can’t be serious. So the GM doesn’t choose the players. He doesn’t choose the coaches. He just twiddles his thumbs, shuffles paper around his desk and takes a few calls. Does he at least make a decent cup of coffee?
Doesn't wear a headset during the game.you can’t be serious. So the GM doesn’t choose the players. He doesn’t choose the coaches.
In normal orgs you would be correct. The Texans org has never been a normal org.you can’t be serious. So the GM doesn’t choose the players. He doesn’t choose the coaches. He just twiddles his thumbs, shuffles paper around his desk and takes a few calls. Does he at least make a decent cup of coffee?
Why hasn't anyone started a fire them all thread yet? Obviously some of ya'll think it's needed. As if anyone will ever make you satisfied

He does contracts, brings in players for tryouts etc... Sets up the draft/FA boards.
Tell me this, if Ryans wants a player in the draft, do you think Ryans will get his guy if Caserio disagrees with Ryans?
Caserio negotiates the trades to get Ryans guys. When they have a pick and a player is on the board, sure defer to the HC, but Who decides to make the trade up? Who decides whether the price is too costly? If it’s Demeco then he’s effectively the GM.

It's time we had an honest conversation about the Houston Texans GM
REALITY CHECKhouston.sportsmap.com
If 2023 ends up being another losing season (95% chance of 2023 being a losing season) Hannah must step back in and interview one of the 49ers executives. Hell, interview one from Seattle as well. I think it’s time to move Caserio into his new fancy title role permanently.
I think free agency will be even more important. The Texans have to attract some A list FAs, not just the b and c list guys Nick has signed in the past.I'm pretty sure Caserio will be back next year. But he's gonna have to really hit on that 1st pick.
