The Houston Texans history is the epitome of clueless owners since its inception.Still annoyed they let Julius Peppers go to Carolina and took a QB before they even had an offense.
Yeah, season ticket sales called me to get me to come back and asked why I left. I said BOB, Easterby, ownership, product on field, meant could not give tickets away and our section had 50% or more of opposing team people making game day experience not so fun. Was getting stale as well. She says we can waive PSL's and with new coach and picks should get back in, I said prove it and I will attend a few games, but don't trust current ownership enough to go all in and get season tickets again. I think they under estimate just how bad this has been and now they need years of competent moves to win most of us back. I will be a fan, and root, just not with the pocket book until I see things are truly different. DR was a good move, like the free agency (Schultz, Woods, Ward, Singletary, Perryman, DT's) and OG trade, now show and execute a plan with the draft. Then we have to see if DR and his staff can coach. If stars align, could be a nice change even this year, if coaching stinks, could be same old.The Houston Texans history is the epitome of clueless owners since its inception.
I expect nothing different in 2023 until they prove otherwise.

Culley did an admirable job considering the cards he was dealt. The players liked him and even though there were not.a lot of wins the team improved as the season went along. The win against the Chargers was a sign the team was improving and headed in the right direction. It was a signature win for the team that season and to me it was enough that Culley should have kept his job for at least a second season. If anything I think he did better than Lovie Smith despite having close to the same records. Davis Mills also finished his season under coach Culley better than he did under Lovie Smith.I am not in favor of firing Nick at this time. That time came and went which was Jan 2023. I would assess his future after the 2024 season when a fair assessment of the bounty from Watson deal plus overall progress can be fairly made.
That said, if he leaves of his own volition, I won’t exactly be upset either.
On the plus side, I think he navigated the Watson trade pretty well. Not perfect, but given the circumstances, as good as can be expected. It’s early but his mid rounders have mostly been on point. I also like how he is willing to work the board up and down on draft day. His predecessor, Gaine, never made a single trade on draft day.
On the downside, some of the guys he has targeted in trade ups haven’t been guys I’d spend draft capital on. Right idea, wrong guys imho. His first rounders so far leave a lot to be desired. If he is ceding those selections to others, that’s on him. Ultimately he is responsible. Lastly, the Culley selection is the biggest head scratcher of his tenure. it’s beyond bad, it’s embarrassing. I also feel he didn’t do enough to put his foot down regarding Easterby. Once he had his foot in the door, he needed to go to Cal and demand that the guy be jettisoned. Instead it took Lovie to save the day which makes Nick look weak and like the file clerk that Texian believes he is.
All in all, it’s a slightly generous C- grade to this point. But I still would give him additional time to put his stamp on the team. He can use the rope to either climb out of the hole he has put himself in…or he can use it to hang himself.
The entire Lovie Smith "thing" was just really weird. Made no sense whatsoever.Culley did an admirable job considering the cards he was dealt. Been a while, but I thought that was a result of the whole McCown debacle. Kind of erased that period from my memory. The entire Lovie Smith "thing" was just really weird. Made no sense whatsoever.
Yeah, that was nuts too. It's like when the Colts brought Jeff Saturday in as interim out of nowhere (you could sort of see how that was just a bit of fun) but the Texans just started looking at McCown like he was some great option that nobody but them could see. God what a crazy time to be an NFL fan in Houston this has been.Been a while, but I thought that was a result of the whole McCown debacle. Kind of erased that period from my memory.
Lovie got his revenge at the end of the season, good for him I guess.Yeah, that was nuts too. I think that left the building along with Easterby.I have fears that the same dumb mindedness that had them seriously considering hiring McCown will show up in this draft. One step forward and two or three steps back.
Let's hope your right.I think that left the building along with Easterby.
doneIs someone going to start an NFL draft thread? I realize 4 hours away but...
If he’s just doing what DeMeco says, what difference does it make? How many of you still want the guy from San Fran over Caserio?
So is that a yes or a no?If he’s just doing what DeMeco says, what difference does it make?
Maybe. So is that a yes or a no?
49ers - Adam PetersIs there a guy in San Fran that Ryans would prefer to work with? That's what I don't know. I'm undecided.
It was O'Brien who sold Bob McNair on Nick Caserio and it was Jack Easterby who got Cal to pull the trigger on Nick Caserio. Cal should have known better after just firing O'Brien.Your descriptions cracked me up!! Thanks for the laugh. I needed it today. That's awesome.
I don't hate Florio like a lot of folks (he's just entertainment to me), but it's clear he's got no memory of what really went down.
Bob McNair wanted Nick Caserio. He tried to hire him in January 2018 when Nick was at the top of a Korn Ferry list. NE declined the interview request.
Hiring Jack Easterby was just a means to an end for Cal. Jack was literally just a tool (in more ways than he realized at the time) to get what his father wanted.
Peters has a better understanding of the WCO/ZBS and the difference would be how his scouting staff scouted players. Caserio retooled the scouting staff in the image of how Belichick wanted things done. Peters would be more copasetic. The Zen in the building would be more sacrosanct. He knows what an S2 is and how to use the NFL Trade Value Chart. If he’s just doing what DeMeco says, what difference does it make?
It was all about Brian Flores. That’s why Culley was fired. Lovie was a desperation move. The entire Lovie Smith "thing" was just really weird. Made no sense whatsoever.
I don’t care who makes the decisions. Give Hanna the credit for all I care. I just want them to make the right decisions that leads to multiple Super Bowls and a dynasty! If he’s just doing what DeMeco says, what difference does it make?

No he’s not doing what Meco is saying. They’re working together like they shouldIf he’s just doing what DeMeco says, what difference does it make?
But you didn’t. You answered a question with a question that didn’t answer the question.I was just answering the question asked
TK's real name is Socrates. It's his method. But you didn’t. You answered a question with a question that didn’t answer the question.
That's not the question I was asking. No he’s not doing what Meco is saying. They’re working together like they should
“Is Nick Caserio actually the worst general manager in football? It’s hard to say. That’s because he spent his first two years on the job overseeing the front office about nothing. No notable draft picks. No free-agent plan beyond signing a bunch of special teamers. No long-term coaching solution with a pair of one-and-dones in David Culley and Lovie Smith. No discernible reason for existing at all after Bill O’Brien at least made sure things were never boring.”

REPORT: The Worst General Manager In The Entire NFL Has Been Named, According To Analyst
An NFL analyst dropped his general manager rankings and put Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio as the worst in the NFLwww.totalprosports.com
Patrick Daugherty of NBC Sports recently dropped his general manager rankings. At the top of his list was Howie Roseman and what he has done with the Philadelphia Eagles.
At the bottom of the list is Nick Caserio of the Texans, who have been of the worst teams in the league even when they had Deshaun Watson at the top of his game for his final season with the team before he got traded to Cleveland.

Considering we have already spent most of the draft capital we received from the Watson trade and the results have not yet been seen, I'm pretty close to wanting to send Nick packing.
I also think we gave up too much in this years draft when great players were still available.
You want to get rid of Nick but admit the results are early and not yet seen? Seems contrarian.Considering we have already spent most of the draft capital we received from the Watson trade and the results have not yet been seen, I'm pretty close to wanting to send Nick packing.
Fire Caserio. I’m with you. Not arguing that.Considering we have already spent most of the draft capital we received from the Watson trade and the results have not yet been seen,
I will say this, Caserio threw all of his chips on the table. Hopefully it works out. A GM on the hot seat. Here is another recent article regarding the 2022 draft class that makes Caserio look pretty bad.
