I agree something different needs to be done for onsides kicks. The way it is now, the chances for success are way too low. I’m not sure those proposals, eliminating kickoffs entirely, are the answer though. Two New Rules to be Tested at Pro Bowl | NFL Football Operations

In 2019, only 8 on-sides kicks have been recovered.I agree something different needs to be done for onsides kicks. The way it is now, the chances for success are way too low. I’m not sure those proposals, eliminating kickoffs entirely, are the answer though.
For example, look at the impact kickoffs had in the Texans/Chiefs game. KC gets the big return, sets up a quick score. Texans fumble on a return, sets up another quick score. Don't know how much difference it would have made, but no kickoffs at all eliminates those plays.
As far something I’d like to see, I’d like to see less defensive penalties being an automatic 1st down. An illegal chuck on 3rd and 20 being an automatic 1st down is ridiculous. Defensive holding too. Offensive holding is a 10 yard penalty, defensive holding should be too. If that results in a 1st down, so be it, but an automatic 1st down is just too much.
