NFL Random Thought of the Day

It says here that TD's voice carries xtra weight because he's a TV analyst for Fox and also
because he's the part-owner of an NFL team.
I dunno but doesn't his voice also carry xtra weight because he use to play the game at a pretty high level, like maybe the highest level of all, i. e., AKA the GOAT.
I mean when TD comments about QB play isn't that like the almighty calling down from the
heavens ?

Okay….the hoopla over Azeez’s hit on Lawrence has made me question a couple of things.

1. QB’s are protected in the pocket and as a runner b/c……why? Is it the size difference or the QB’s inability to absorb NFL hits. I’ve been lost on this constant bubble wrapping of an NFL position.

2. Shouldn’t NFL CB’s be given the same benefit? CB’s often lighter than most QB’s often find themselves having to take on RB’s, OL, and TE’s who pound these guys at full speed. They’re just as capable of being hit into a fencers pose as a QB. Why not give the CB’s the ability to tap their helmet and point at the RB so he remains protected before an impact could happen?

Look, I don’t like dirty hits but at some point the owners and players have to understand that they’re playing professional football while being paid an incredible amount of money to do so…..getting hit and getting hit really hard most of the time comes with the choice of profession.

It has nothing to do with size or anything but money. The quarterback is considered the most important player on the team. There's usually only two of them per team.

All this gift wrapping has permitted refs to control a game by determining what an unnecessary hit looks like. It’s tainting the game in a bad way. Personal Fouls are 15 yards and could easily change the game. Some of the called late hits in the pocket that I’ve seen flagged were ridiculous. This can change a game in a hurry. Again, I don’t like dirty hits to any player, regardless of position….but what gets flagged and doesn’t is getting out of hand. I believe far too many extra rules is making it harder and harder for refs. Also, get the earphones out of the refs ears….just hate to imagine someone is dictating when a flag needs to be thrown.

The refs commonly determine a lot of things beyond QB hits that determine the results of a game.

They look out for the QBs simply because no one wants to have playoff games with, for example, the Bills vs the Ravens where the starting QBs are Mitch Trubisky vs Josh Johnson.

And I'm not arguing that it's a good or bad thing to protect them like they do, just that that's the reason why.

I hope they don’t come to Jacksonville.

I hope Jacksonville does the typical Jacksonville thing. They have us spoiled.
I think we're looking at an entire regime change in Jacksonville. But I don't see the owner going for the top candidates. Brian Flores (MIN DC), Joe Brady (BUF OC), and the Packers coordinators Jeff Hafley (DC) and Adam Stenavich (OC) would be good gets. Lions assistant GM Ray Agnew could be a candidate for the Jags GM gig.

Yet 38M+ watched the Giants and Cowboys, most ever for Turkey Day.

Randy Moss stepping away from ESPN for extended period due to health issue
By Josh Alper
Published December 6, 2024 11:18 AM

Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss announced recently that he is dealing with a health issue and it will cause him to make a change to his work schedule.

ESPN announced on Friday that Moss will be stepping away from his role on the network’s Sunday NFL Countdown show “for an extended time.” Moss addressed his health challenge during last Sunday’s show.

Moss has not announced the nature of his health issue, but said he addressed the problem because of social media comments about his eyes looking yellow and that he was wearing sunglasses on the air.

The ESPN statement said Moss has their “full support” and that they will welcome him back once he’s ready to resume working.
