None of it is my business. As a football fan, I enjoy watching him play. But ultimately, he's just another entertainer, regardless of how many medals you pin on him.
 
Brady missed practice today and is listed on the Injury Report as "finger and shoulder." He in fact sustained a mild rotator cuff strain and a right ring finger injury. The shoulder injury was sustained during the first half strip sack, although completed the game. This injury will still limit what Brady will be able to do if he tries to play. The right ring finger injury occurred in the Sept. 18 game against the Saints on a fumbled snap exchange with the center. It will also limit his abilities............it accounts for 25% of the hand's grip strength. His lack of full grip strength could easily have led to the strip sack this last game/.

Bennet Omalu, the famed neuropathologist who has been credited with finding chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in former football players, has said Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa should “stop playing” football after suffering a concussion last Thursday.

“Tua, my brother. I love you,” Omalu said, speaking to TMZ, not to Tagovailoa. “I love you as much as I love my son. Stop playing. Stop. Hang your helmet and gallantly walk away.”
Tagovailoa was taken off the field on a stretcher during Miami’s loss to the Bengals last Thursday after the back of his head crashed into the ground on a sack by Cincinnati nose tackle Josh Tupou.

The quarterback’s arms and fingers flexed in what is called “fencing response” — a reaction typically associated with concussions or other brain injuries — and he remained on the field for nearly 10 minutes before he was carted off and subsequently hospitalized. That injury came just four days after he appeared wobbly when trying to get to his feet following his head hitting the field on a tackle during the Dolphins’ game against the Bills.

“My advice to him is, look, it’s time,” Omalu said. “You’ve suffered severe, long-term permanent brain damage. He seized. … If you love your life. If you love your family, you love your kids, if you have kids, it’s time to gallantly walk away. Go find something else to do

After Tagvailoa was concussed Thursday, the doctor who cleared him to return to the game against the Bills was fired by the NFL Players Association. Another concussion controversy occurred this past Sunday, however, when

Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate was allowed back into the game against the Chiefs after colliding with teammate Chris Godwin and appearing disoriented during a second-quarter play. In the third quarter, Brate was removed from the game with what was diagnosed as a concussion.

Omalu, who authored the 2018 book, “Brain Damage in Contact Sports,” identified CTE in the brains of deceased athletes and military veterans

In December 2015, Sony Pictures produced and released a film titled “Concussion” on Omalu’s life and work. Will Smith played Omalu in the film.
Tagovailoa remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and has already been ruled out for the Dolphins’ game Sunday against the Jets.

In a statement posted to Twitter on Friday, Tagovailoa said he is “feeling much better and focused on recovering” in order to return to action.

DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the NFLPA, has vowed to pursue “every legal option” to investigate a potential protocol violation by the Dolphins concerning Tagovailoa.

We have no idea what’s going on with those two.

He originally chose family, he was retired. For all we know she came up with all kinds of crap that he just couldn’t do, so he unretired.

SMDH, I appreciate the game being played at a very high level by the GOAT. You must begrudge winners? What makes him needy in your eyes? I love guys that love to compete, be it in sports or business.

Not really. Remember, Brady had another child from the actress before he got with Giselle. She probably knew a sacrifice, but at some point your family has to come into play. Its like he's playing to keep from being in the family or not getting that feeling of being in front of the fans. I mean it happens with really successful, driven people. You're going to sacrifice something for greatness and most times its family. Might as well stay single like Jeter until you retire.

That's been my thought process on this as well.. coming from divorced parents, hell who isn't these days. I get the feeling this isn't just about Brady chosing to play another year. Divorce is never just about one singular issue.. even when infidelity is involved there's still always more underlying issues from both sides. So while the news headlines will read "they split over Brady's decision to play football". I think there's been trouble growing long before this and it isn't just over one thing. Hell midlife crisis can be a ***** 🤔

Regardless this is their personal business, so I'll leave it at that.

Since leaving New England, Brady has had an unquenchable thirst for attention. Calls a press conference to announce his retirement. 40 days later, calls a press conference to announce he's unretiring (Did you miss me?). Produces a multipart TV series about...Tom Brady. Who does that? Someone who is worried about no longer being in the spotlight.

Yeah, I was fortunate. My parents both passed January 1 and 18th after 63 yrs of marriage, together for 64. You said it right, its never 1 thing.

So he retired because his wife was making him and then decided he would rather play than stay with his wife unless she chose to stay with him due to the until death does us part vows. The fact that he still wants to play evenif it means getting a divorce means he's worried about not being in the spotlight. LMAO

Truth is you've probably been the guy that's not only hoping he would retire fyor the last 5-7 yrs and also probably saying he's lost it his last yr in Foxboro. In other words you hate greatness.

Me I hope he lives his dreams of playing football as long as his skillset allows him to play. He truly loves the game and there's nothing wrong with this and she knew this when they got together. BTW, I hope he plays another 5 yrs. Of course where we disagree is I love getting to witness greatness and hope to continue to do so for yrs to come.

The NFL and NFL Players Association had hoped to announce the results of the Tua Tagovailo concussion protocol investigation before the start of Thursday night’s game between the Colts and Broncos. That hasn’t happened.
As explained by Michael Smith during the Amazon pregame show, it hasn’t happened because the NFL and NFLPA don’t agree on what happened, or on what needs to be done.

Richard Sherman, who continues to be a member of the NFLPA Executive Committee after his retirement from the NFL, said that the union believes the concussion protocols were not followed.

The NFL apparently believes otherwise. Per Sherman, the NFL’s medical director, Allen Sills, says an “abundance of caution” was utilized. Said Sherman, “If an abundance of caution is putting him back in the ballgame, what does an aggressive approach look like?”

Sherman also reiterated something that was said during Sunday’s Football Night in America. The union wants the players to be treated like patients, not like football players who are intent on being cleared to play football as quickly a possible.

So we’ll see where this goes. If the NFL and NFLPA can’t come to an agreement as to what happened in Tua’s case, the union would be able to file a grievance, with a potential arbitration resolving the case.

And they were right to fire the doctor who allowed him to go on the field. Why would the team need unprofessional doctors? Hell, I wonder if that doctor will find a new team. Now he'll be treating dogs, not people. Although no, you still have to get a vet's degree to treat dogs.
 
Questionable late-game decisions plague Nathaniel Hackett, again

Bronco coach Nathaniel Hackett is having a rough first year. At this rate, he won’t get a second.

After adding yet another member of the coaching staff to help Hackett make better decisions in key moments, Hackett made a couple of questionable decisions in two key moments during the 12-9 overtime loss to the Colts.

Let’s start at the end of regulation. The Colts were out of timeouts. There was 2:19 to play. The Broncos led by three. They faced third and four from the Indianapolis 13.

“We wanted to be sure that we were able to get a first down,” Hackett said after the game.

That’s fine. But they didn’t ultimately try to get the first down. Quarterback Russell Wilson went for the knockout, throwing the ball to the end zone, where the ball was intercepted.

If they had simply failed to get the first down, the Bronco could have kicked a field goal, forcing the Colts to do something neither team did all night long — score a touchdown.
The Colts instead drove down the field for a game-tying field goal. In overtime, the Colts took the lead with another field goal.

And then the Broncos, who continue to hit a brick wall in the red zone, faced fourth and one from the Indianapolis five. At one point, the Broncos lined up with Wilson under center. After a pair of timeouts, they opted for shotgun formation — signaling to the defense that a pass play was more likely.

It wasn’t fourth and goal. It was fourth and one. It was a perfect spot for a Melvin Gordon run for a possible first and goal, or maybe a creative play-action design that could have resulted in a walk-off game-winning score.
Instead, the Broncos basically told the Colts a throw was coming. So the Colts defended it. And the Indianapolis defense came through.

“We wanted to have a good pass call,” Hackett told reporters. “We wanted to put it in [Wilson’s] hands to win the game.”

That’s fine, if it works. But it didn’t work. There was reason to think it may not work. Wilson was off, all night long. Whether it was the shoulder injury or something else, there was no reason to believe with a high degree of certainty that Wilson would deliver a touchdown in an all-or-nothing setting like that.

There’s another question to be asked about the final play of the game. Why not kick the field goal, play defense, and try to get the ball back? Even if the game had ended in a tie, a 2-2-1 record would be better than 2-3.
In explaining the decision-making process with the game on the line, Hackett made an interesting — and perhaps telling — comment in his post-game press conference. He said he “got the go to go for it.”

From whom? Isn’t that the head coach’s decision? Whoever gave the head coach the go to go for it is the guy who should apparently should be the head coach, because that person made a decision that is always reserved for the head coach.

What it Jerry Rosburg, who was specifically hired to help Hackett make better decisions in those spots? Was it an analytics person who apparently has final say over whatever Hackett chooses to do?
At the highest levels of any industry, perception is reality. And the perception through five games is that the game is too big for Hackett. Even with another assistant coach added on the fly, he’s not making good decisions in key moments.

That won’t bode well when new ownership decides whether to bring back for a second year a coach they didn’t hire in the first place. The buyout is negligible, relative to the extreme wealth of the Walton-Penner Wal-Mart group. Frankly, if they were making the decision right now, it wouldn’t be a difficult one.

Over the next 12 games, Hackett’s primary challenge will be to change their minds. He has his work cut out for him.
