NFL Random Thought of the Day

Taylor Lewan has just announced his retirement. He had suffered 2 ACL ruptures in 2 seasons. He is in a lawsuit saying that problems with his 1st ACL surgery caused the 2nd ACL lawsuit.

It looks like Kittle will try to play this week. He suffered a Grade II adductor tear ~3 weeks ago. He suffered a similar injury last season and missed several games. This is a type of injury that presents long term problems. If he plays, the risk of extending the injury or sustaining a compensatory injury is high.

The Packers have had 3 qbs start for them over the last 30 years..1st 2 guys are HoFers…& this 3rd guy they have starting today looks really good.

Kittle caught 3 of 6 targets for 19 yds. He did not make much of an impact on offense despite finishing third on the team in targets Sunday, averaging just 6.3 yards per reception helped in large part by an 11-yard catch in the game. It was obvious that his adductor injury was compromising him.

Browns RT Jack Conklin injured his left knee. Looking at a clip of the play, there's a good chance that he suffered an ACL..........the same knee in which he sustained an ACL in 2018. Will await for an MRI tomorrow.

Joe Burrow should not have returned following his grade II calf tear for week 1. He was definitely visibly immobile, even in the pocket. His one attempt at running resulted in a 1 yd loss. His ability for play action was next to nil.
Burrow"s immobility gave the Browns a green light. Cleveland sacked Burrow twice and hit him 10 times. He could not function at all outside the pocket.

They also played him on a rainy day and slippery field. Because of the conditions, he could have easily aggravated that calf. SMH

David Bakhtiari sounds off on artificial turf and Aaron Rodgers ankle injury
Published September 11, 2023 09:23 PM

Packers tackle David Bakhtiari is, like millions of others, watching Monday night’s game between the Bills and the Jets. And the former teammate of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has some things to say about Rodgers’s ankle injury.
“Congrats @nfl,” Bakhtiari said on social media. “How many more players have to get hurt on ARTIFICIAL TURF??! You care more about soccer players than us. You plan to remove all artificial turf for the World Cup coming up. So clearly it’s feasible. I’m sick of this..Do better!”

Bakhtiari is referring to the willingness of multiple NFL teams to remove fake grass for real grass (technically, a hybrid) at the insistence of FIFA.

Lower leg injuries can happen on artificial turf when the player’s foot gets stuck on the surface. When the foot fights the forces of physics, something on the body can become injured.

For the NFL, it all comes down to expense. Amazingly, multiple owners are too cheap to spend the money necessary on the best surfaces — even when doing so protects their own investments in the players who play on it.

Per the example you provided -

Ever since I was a child I could ride a bike.

That doesn’t mean after a person was a child they could ride a bike.

That means while they were a child and after.

Or here is another one that is popular -

Since the AFL - NFL the city of Houston has not one a Super Bowl.

That means once the two orgs merged and after.

Since 2002 means 2002 and after.

I heard the same stat on and knew it was wrong when I heard it. No one remembers the Texans or David Carr. The stat should include the win by David Carr and the Texans.

From my experience with trauma patients with no real brain activity ("brain dead"), they lose their ability to think but do retain non-cognitive function. These people can appear fine, but will not be able to speak or respond to commands. Spontaneous movements may occur, and the eyes may open in response to external stimuli (light, sound, touch). They may even occasionally grimace, laugh or cry.

When the eyes are partially open and have been for days, there is a drying out of the eyes and the body is trying very hard to produce moisture. Without blinking (and the eyes are not blinking) moisture accumulates and rolls down the cheek producing a small amount of tearing.

As my career progressed, the definition of brain death has become increasingly a legal one rather than strictly a medical one. Therefore, decisions by the family regarding "death" have been increasingly more difficult for them to accept.

All the "signs of life" reported by the family were non-cognitive and reflex reaction to external stimuli. Williams was essentially dead immediately following the trauma. Not surprisingly, it is always difficult for loved ones to understand and accept these things.

Jim Trotter lawsuits attributes alleged racist remark to Jerry Jones

Shocked Trotter would play the race card.

Let's see I believe McClay who is Jones righthand man is black. Also 75% of the NFL is black. DeMarcus Ware was drafted by Jones (A historically black college athlete.) Also Jones stated the truth, if Trotter doesn't like the way the NFL is being run (I dont like the way God'ell runs the NFL) then he can put together a group and purchase a team. (An uncomfortable truth) This seems like Trotter has a bad case of sour grapes. He probably shouldn't have been hired by the NFL to begin with.

Interesting thatvthecworld cup will be played on grass
The turf was probably a factor in Rodger's Achilles, but watching the clips of the rupture, I believe that the main factor was the extra heavy load of the defender on Rodger's back putting enormous stress on the Achilles. And let's not forget that throughout TC Rodgers was dealing with a calf tear. The Achilles tendon actually starts in the middle of the calf (and attaches to the heel).

Achilles partial tear symptoms can mimic calf tear symptoms. With calf injuries of any sort, the muscle contracts and therefore shortens and places a great deal of tension of the Achilles tendon................then add the heavy load described above with the foot in the midst of trying to push off, the enormous tension produced makes for a perfect setup for a rupture of the Achilles.

Patrick Mahomes Accidentally Tweets Mean Note About Aaron Rodgers After Injury

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About “The Blind Side” Scandal

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Monday wrote that he hated Aaron Rodgers after the brand-new New York Jets quarterback went down with a suspected Achilles injury.

But it was a forgotten comma, not a distorted sense of rivalry, that made Mahomes do it.

“Hate that man,” Mahomes tweeted on X, the former Twitter. “Praying for the best.”

Of course, Mahomes was one stroke of punctuation away from his true sentiments and he fixed the sentence to “Hate that, man.”
THE REST OF THE STORY

DeMarcus Ware was drafted by Jones (A historically black college athlete.)
When did Troy become a HBCU? After they allowed blacks to enroll?
Also Jones stated the truth, if Trotter doesn't like the way the NFL is being run (I dont like the way God'ell runs the NFL) then he can put together a group and purchase a team.
If Trotter doesn't like it, he can also sue for discrimination. Which he is doing.
