NFL Random Thought of the Day

Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase has been reported as having a hip injury and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. From what I've found out, he has suffered a labrum tear. Four to six weeks seems on the conservative side..........I'd expect 6-8 weeks if no surgery is not required by then. If he does manage to rehab his hip conservatively, it will leave him significant risk for re-injury upon return.

No longer a fan of the Cowboys because of what went on behind the scenes when players were kneeling, LeBron James says he is all in with the Cleveland Browns!

Isn't it hard for an athlete at his position to come back fully. Didn't Johnny Flynn of the nba have a similar injury? He wasn't the same after that injury.

Lots of smoke and mirrors leading up to trade deadline…

The Texans could be sellers, too
Some executives around the league also believe the Houston Texans will in fact deal left tackle Laremy Tunsil. His restructured contract makes it very palatable, and Houston is perpetually in rebuild mode.
“Trust me: Houston is wide open for business,” said one GM who has been in regular contact with Texans brass since the summer, and who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Wide open. They’ll engage on anything. It’s been like that since they were setting their [roster at the end of the preseason]. Even more now that [former top executive Jack] Easterby got whacked. They want more picks.”

It’s becoming clear that Davis Mills is not the quarterback of the future for the Texans, and it’s debatable whether Lovie Smith will be more than another head coach whom ownership is willing to punt on in short order. Some officials with other teams believe the Texans are fixated on landing the top pick in the 2023 draft.

Opinion or expertise? Me, this is just an opinion piece built on nothing more than another individuals thoughts.

Sure, the Texans and Caserio should always be open for business on the front side of a rebuild b/c they’re hardly a player or two away from being serious Super Bowl contenders.

Caserio will not be shipping his best assets via trade unless the Texans are coming out ahead on those deals. Other GM’s may be testing the water in an effort to see how desperate Caserio is in moving his potential assets……doesn’t mean the Texans are open for business and they’re dropping their pants to the floor as I’m typing this post.

The clearest message to those Mills doubters…..the Texans, Caserio, Lovie, and Pep are still starting him and have made “absolutely zero” suggestions that they’re looking to start Allen or trading for another veteran to finish the season. The Texans are developing Mills…..unfortunately it’s as QB1 versus QB2 carrying the clipboard like he was supposed to be doing for a season or two.

Personally, I like Lovie the HC b/c I see the players buying into his approach. What I do see, Lovie needs to focus on being the HC and should seriously entertain adding a DC to his staff next season. I want Lovie 100% all in as the Texans HC. I’d like to see Pep take the training wheels off Mills and his offense for the rest of the season, now that a running game which commands respect, has been established.

Cooks and Tunsil are the sole assets that the Texans are being contacted about and my guess, they’ll remain Texans b/c teams won’t be interested in paying the asking price.

If Cooks doesn't play today, he will be gone by Tuesday.

I think Caserio and Snead probably have the framework for a deal in place.

Tell me again why Malik Davis isn't a Texan? You know they saw him while he was splitting time with Pierce. He was their 3rd down RB. Think he might be better than Burkhead? Lol

This might be the most plausible scenario for a Cooks trade. A team like the Rams trading a player that has underwhelmed and they’ll likely be moving on from cancelling out Cooks’ cap hit next season. I could see a a Cooks/Robinson swap happening. Maybe even adding a draft pick depending which side agrees to eat more of their former player’s contract.

Rams. One you-never-know thing about the Rams: I won’t be shocked if they find a speed receiver somewhere, even if it costs them the ill-fitting Allen Robinson. That speed receiver could be Brandin Cooks, but only if the Texans chip in on some of the $18 million salary Cooks is due in 2023.

May not be an immediate career ender (but typically a season ender), but usually eventually results as a career shortener.................WR Percy Harvin.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor re-injured his ankle injury after coming back from his original week 4 injury. He completed the game as a ineffective "lame duck."

Sorry OT but...

Bears acquired LB A.J. Klein and 2023 second- and fifth-round picks from the Ravens in exchange for LB Roquan Smith.

Looks like Smith probs off the table is FA.

Tell me why Foreman isn't a Texans as much as they want to run the ball?

Dont know, I would've brought him in on the cheap. Maybe he wasn't a hard worker while he was on Kirby and that changed after his dad tragically passed away.

Yep, my buddy writes for the Titans. He said you could see the difference. All the Titans fans wanted him back to spell Henry. If you remember, his twin brother was the prized recruit coming out, but he wouldn't sign with anyone unless his brother got a ride too. He basically signed for peanuts and wasn't getting hardly any carries behind cmc. Texans could've signed him vs wasting time on Mack and Burkhead. My godson still playing and actually started for the Giants, Marcus Johnson. Good kid, great parents. Grew up with both of them, dad was poor, poor, but has been operator for 25 yrs. I told him keep cashing them checks. Bought me a scorpion for my birthday a few years back.

They would be better off luring T.O. out of retirement

The Rams don’t need him. They just got Robinson and don’t know how to use him. Stafford would never find Cooks to pass to him. I think the Rams are done. They got theirs last year.
Wow. PJ Walker is starting and have outplayed Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield. It seems he has jump started that offense and will get the start this week.

PJ Walker…. Of Houston Roughnecks fame!!

And when is the deadline? 4 pm eastern? Anyone got any news on Texans trades?
