NFL Random Thought of the Day

Maybe so, but I know the chance for success for a QB is already very low and those numbers get a lot worse when changing offensive systems from year 1 to year 2. Obviously Goff beat those odds

I get what you mean about having a carousel of changing coordinators for a young qb. And I'd general agree wholeheartedly to be cautious against it, but this is only one change for what I believe is a bright and earnest young qb ... and I'll bet that one change for now against trying to develop him with tweedle dee and tweedle dum all day.

Who will be the new OC in Cleveland?

Really surprised that the Jags have given up on Fowler Jr so quickly. 3rd overall pick for a '19 3rd and '20 5th

what was the surgery? 6-8 weeks sounds like a very quick, very risky return time
I don't believe that Long is scheduled for surgery. Whatever the injury appears to be treated conservatively. The 6-8 week return to play would be consistent with an uncomplicated metatarsal stress or undisplaced fracture...........depending on the type, and the duration of pain, the 8 week period may be too conservative an estimate. The Bears insist that it is not a similar injury as his severe ankle injury that required extensive reconstruction in 2016........they insist it is of the foot. With the time frame set up, it seems unlikely that he may be dealing with even a very subtle Lisfranc, which even at its mildest will realistically take 10-12 weeks to return to play. Those would cover my best impressions of the situation with the present information.

Isn't that the dude whose brother walked away from Ohio St. when he got hurt this season?
I don't know about "walked away." But yes, he suffered "sports hernia" and rather than trying to play through it and requiring surgery at the end of the season, the decision was to undergo surgery and be ready for the upcoming Draft.

Meanwhile, Joey is trying to rehab a "stable" Lisfranc with bone bruise without surgery.........a slow long process. If unsuccessful, the knife may still be waiting for him.

For whatever reason I read your original post as him having surgery, that's my mistake. Thank you for the info as always

Indeed! It isn’t often that I do a lot of multitasking since friends don’t call me during the game. I wonder how long will Gruden be given to build a competitive team. Tonight is about as bad as it gets, except the Texans/Miami game.

That situation is a disaster. He had a good team and well we see what he's done with it. I'm glad he didn't come to Houston. They're playing football like the Rockets are playing basketball; terribly.

I'm not a Gruden fan but I see what he's doing. Stock piling picks and cap space isn't a bad way to start the process of building a team in his vision. What he's traded away can easily be replaced via the draft or free agency for less money.

Gruden has to figure out if Carr is fools gold.

I'm betting on Carr being fools gold.

Weren't you blasting Rick for not drafting Carr and praising the Oakland offensive line?

Nope,I'll I never want to see one of Roger Carr's kids QB the team i root for as long as I live.

For the record I was a Jimmy G guy and still think not drafting him was the second biggest mistake this franchise has made behind the drafting of Roger's other son.

I said as much at the time. O wanted them to trade back into the 1st for Jimmy G and you can imagine my disappointment watching Ricky screw the pooch again. You should go back and check out my mock drafts that year.

I'm fully aware of your thing for Garoppolo ... like Texian and Bortles, everyone has been hammered into submission with awareness. I obviously mistakenly included Carr as a top prospect QB that Rick Smith didn't choose.

I mean I might give you Cooper is easily replaced. Khalil Mack however, a DPOY, possible HOFer(if he keeps it up) is not easily replaced.

Carr was a first season sensation at QB. That season, he had an OL and solid weapons. Hasn't been the same since. Nonetheless, Gruden will probably draft another QB just to be on the safe side. Don't forget, Gruden was really high on Carr during his Pre-Draft coverage.

Mack was a rookie as well, once upon a time. There are some solid OLB/DE coming into the 2019 NFL Draft and they have the picks to pounce if needed.

As opposed to the plethora of guys he's not really high on during his pre-draft coverage?

Dang, the Bills are in terrible shape....................Derek Anderson has not passed the Concussion Protocol.............and that means Peterman the interception machine is back in the saddle.

oooh.... lemme see who they're playing. I might need to change my FF team defense.
:D

They're playing Chicago
I saw that. Someone already has the Bears' DST. Guess I'll have to stay with the Pats' D.

I need something to make up for that rotten egg Derek Carr laid Thursday night.

A J Green is dealing with a foot injury and has been reported as seeking an opinion from a specialist regarding the possibility of surgery. As his big toe is swelling with this injury, it is apparent to me that he is dealing with a severe turf toe.

Nathan Peterman is the only player in the Super Bowl era to have 11 interceptions on 100 (or fewer) pass attempts.

MNF... dayum I almost hate rooting for Dallas. I may drink too much before I pass out

There OL looked wasted.
It really hasn't been very good for several years. Guys in the media who do the all-pro voting usually put 'bout three of the Cowboys OL as all-pros but what does a media guy know bout the Oline play, in other words they were probably overrated for years.
