On a side note I thought I'd hate this draft format but I'm liking it. You have teams really locked in last night to one round and they made moves. Youa re then giving teams time to either a) make more moves that are positive or b) panic and make moves based on what happened the day before. So you can see who is a player out there.
As for the moving down stuff. It is all good in theory but sometimes you outsmart yourself and when a run happens you are on the outside looking in. The Cowboys for example. Jimmy used to work the trade down and get picks and it worked. Jerry tried it on his own and failed. 2 years ago they stayed put and got studs in Felix Jones and Jenkins at the bottom of the 1st. Last year they had 12 picks, tried to get picky and got maybe 3 guys out of 12 that weren't special teamers. This year, with a more talented team, they moved up and got best player instead of getting tricky. I like when teams stay put or move up a couple of spots to grab a guy who has been shown to produce instead of hoping someone is there later. As for the Texans last night. It was tricky. They need CB and targeted Kareem, according to them. But it almost sounds like they locked in once Matthews was gone and felt they HAD to get him. Just a feeling. I do like guys at big time programs, though Boise probably face better passing QBs.
