NFL Day 3: Rounds 4-7

Unless your projected to go early don't come out as a running back.

Jordan Todman from Connecticut is a really good player but running backs always fall and he's still sitting there.

Some of these kids make bad decisions on coming out.

Is this sarcasm? How do you know if a player is a diamond in the rough when they haven't even played a game in the NFL?

By diamond in the rough I mean he picks players that arent as well known or as talented as others available. Its like he's trying to get lucky and pull one out of a hat.

Hmmm...Idk how I feel about that. Kind of wish they had gone somewhere else with the trade down/CB pick tactic. Couple players went off the board I definitely wouldn't have minded seeing in Texans gear. The player seems decent for a 4th, Carmichael. What I read is physically gifted, not a big CB, needs work on technique but has good experience and good production.

5th round prospects:

Quan Sturdivant, ILB
Chris Carter, OLB
Greg Jones, ILB (really like him)
Jerell Powe, DT
Ian Williams, DT (really like him too)
Lawrence Guy, DT
Ahmad Black, S
Jeremy Beal, OLB

Here is my group

Jeron Johnson S
Chris Carter OLB

I think it's him sticking to his board.

Whether the board is right is up to interpretation but each team rates players differently so he's picking who he thinks is best.

Whether they turn out successful is up to the coaches and the player.

My top 7 BPA at this point:
1. Tyler Sash, SS
2. Quan Sturdivant, ILB
3. Jordan Todman, RB
4. Deandre McDaniel, S
5. Greg Jones, ILB
6. D.J. Williams, TE
7. Jerrell Powe, NT

Jerrell Powe DT Mississippi
A human plug for the middle.

Deunta Williams FS North Carolina
makes plays all over the field. Every time I watched UNC he stood out more than the big 3.

Mark Herzlich LB Boston College
Can he be the player he once was? I will never doubt him. I would love his presence as much as his ability on this defense.

Greg Romeus DE Pittsburgh
If he was healthy he would be long gone.

Ian Williams DT Notre Dame
Good value this late and will add solid depth at NT.

Stanley Havili FB Southern California 4th
Insurance for Leech and a great blocker and receiver out of the backfield. Solid runner with good vision. People will think im crazy but he reminds me of Foster

Wow Greg Jones is still there?

That guy is a tackling machine.

He's a guy who doesn't test great but he would be a great pick.

I think Chris Carter could be the guy for us. Herring said he likes to have 6 active LBs during games, 3 inside and 3 outside all rotating to stay fresh (have fun telling Meco and Cushing to leave the field). Carter would be a nice situational guy and could probably play solid on special teams.

Or we could go offense for the first time.

Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles, Texans all vying for Asomugha according to these guys on ESPN

We have no chance.

Those other three teams are all heavy hitters in free agency.

If I am Aso, why in the heck would I come to Houston instead of those other three teams? I mean, I can see not wanting to go to Washington where things have been pretty jacked up for a long time (and seeing how Shanahan treated McNabb).

But Dallas and Philly are two teams constantly finding themselves somewhere "in the mix" in the NFC East. We can't offer that.

Maybe the reason we're drafting so heavy on defense is that it's (A) filling true needs, obviously, and (B) it's a gesture to show Aso we're dead dog serious about having a top-rated defense here.

I think everybody here ought to prepare themselves for the very real likelihood that even though we're mentioned as being after Aso...we're going to have to settle for something else.

That's my advice. Better to be pleasantly surprised than supremely pissed off.

DANCE!!!!!!

YOU CAN DANCE IF YOU WANT TO!!!
YOU CAN ALSO PICK A SAFETY!!!!!!!!

At this point, basically just take the best players on your board imo.

Yes. Exactly. Take the BPA and just add football players. Its all about depth at this point. If you get a starter from this point on, either you have major problems on your team, or hit a homerun.

Timekiller, maybe your safety dance is whats keeping us from going safety, although at this point I'd rather take a hard shot at weddle, or a lukewarm shot at Huff

Mark Herzlich is a guy I would not mind having but would not be surprised if the Pats took him for a home coming sort of being he went to Boston College.
