NFL Day 3: Rounds 4-7

I also think the Texans are taking advantage of some strange picks by other teams. I am at least satisfied with every pick the Texans have made. Not thrilled about the last 2, but I dont dislike them. And the first 3 were awesome!

It's shaping up just like I wanted it to: Defense, defense, defense, and on and on and on...just going to make every single secondary player EARN their spot instead of this freaking "tenure/seniority philosophy" that was killing our defense for five years.

It's like an open audition for secondary at Reliant. All we need is a camera crew, the FOX network, and some judges and viewers to help make this thing legit as a talent search.

If you play secondary in Houston, you better bring it during camp. If there is a camp. A delay and possibly a late start to the reg season MIGHT be the only saving grace for Texans secondary players--Couldn't just throw rookie CBs and a rookie SS out there if there isn't any prep time beforehand. That's the only way I see a Texans secondary player (currently on the roster) breathing a sigh of relief.

McShay: Shiloh has no regard for his body. Tough physical player. Wont be returning punts--ran 4.75

Eagles select Dion Lewis, RB, Pitt

Yeah, he doesn't have great long speed but here are some of his other numbers:

pro day 40: 4.66
20 yard shuttle: 3.90
3 cone drill: 6.55

The shuttle and cone are awesome. Shuttle might be the best in the draft honestly. He's about 5 ft 11 and weighs 220 for reference. Football player.

It looks like we are AGAIN going to go through this draft without a serious safety prospect. From what I hear, Keo is more of a special teamer.

Maybe we've just overvalued some of the safeties this year. Some of the guys I liked the most are still on the board.

Somebody on the ESPN draft panel (I forget who) was pimping Yates big time earlier. Said he has everything, smart, strong, makes all the right reads, progresses through all recievers,etc... but he needs to get the mechanics down which are a "train wreck" at this point. Said Yates basically carried NC this year despite all of the suspensions.

I don't understand what makes that guy better choice than Tyrod Taylor for a backup QB spot.

Look at Yates' accuracy. He completed 110 of 112 passes at North Carolina's Pro Day. That's sick. Give him some time and he will be a very serviceable back up.

Quin is going to be one of our safeties. I believe the writing is on the wall for that. I think we try to grab the other safety and a vet CB in free agency.

Mayock is a BIG fan of Yates on NFL network.
