Moves before the Trade Deadline?

If I'm the Giants (or Cleveland, or possum holler), I'm calling Detroit to ask about the availability of Hendon Hooker. He looks like he's fully recovered from his injury & he played well enough in the preseason to win the back-up role to Goff. But the way Goff is playing, I doubt Hooker will be getting much PT anytime soon. Hooker would be worth making a run at & a far better option than the two you mentioned (in jest, I'm sure. lol).
Why not trade for Lance?

I heard he's available.

I’m sure many folks might remember me talking up and mocking Hooker to the Texans.

I like Hooker, but what would the Texans have to give up to obtain his services via trade?

I don’t think the Lions would have any desire to trade Hooker. Hooker could move on to a potential starting gig in 2 more seasons…..unless the Lions get an offer they can’t refuse.
I wasn't suggesting the Texans would trade for him. I was referring to the three QB needy teams I mentioned in my post. The Texans already have their franchise QB.

At this point, I'm in favor of trading for Nate Davis from the Bears. He's not a top tier LG but he is better than both K. Greens' and could be had for very little compensation. The Bears are even willing to pay part of his contract to get rid of him. However, my only concern is that Davis has the same type of attitude as Tunsil.

If the Colts fall flat today…..I’d reach out in regards to, C- Ryan Kelly. He’s in the final year of his contract and the Colts haven’t offered the 31 year old an extension. Colts have a big UFA class at the end of this season and may not want to tie up another contract on the veteran….especially if they find themselves back in the QB market.

Kelly would bring stability to this OL. Also, since the C is responsible for calling the protections…..who better to do that than an 8 year Pro Bowl veteran? Scruggs, Patterson, Mason, or Kendrick Green could take the G positions. Tunsil and Fisher at L and R T’s should be fine. This would be an OL that CJ and Mixon could operate behind.

This would solve multiple problems with this OL. Trade Howard as well

I could definitely get on board with this.

Doubtful the Colts do the Texans any favors. Ethan Pocic from the Browns could be available and an upgrade though.

Saints have bit the dust!!! Might be the right team to approach in regards to C- Erik McCoy. He seems to be having a solid season as one of the top pass protecting and maybe the top run blocking C’s in the NFL this season.

The Saints gave him an extension that would keep him under contract through the 2027 season. He’d be 30 years old when the contract winds down.

Saints may want to ditch the contract while getting a strong return b/c of his age and current contract.

With this guy, the OL could look like this:
LT- Tunsil / LG- Green2 / C- McCoy / RG- Patterson / RT- Fisher

Scruggs isn’t in the picture b/c I would include him in the trade along with a pick.

Mason would be my RG with Patterson spelling Mason every 3rd or 4th series. I like your ideas though.
