John Harris Review Of Top 32

don't know how much time I'll have to spend watching College Football this season so I'm counting on my fellow draft experts & mocksters. Seems a bit down from last year? I'm sure glad Texans drafted one of the premier 5 tech DE's (JJ Watt) y'all know I wanted Cameron Jordan, thought they would play Mario more in the 5 tech with Cameron filling both OLB & 5 tech roles. Instead Watt fills the starting LDE 5 tech then bumps to DT in four man fronts. I'm really not as worried about Watt as I am Mario, we shall see or not if Wade Phillips can live up to his "Rock Star" billing.

I was thinking WR has the most depth in this draft & Texans could opt to bolster roster here but with emergence of Jean, hopefully blossoming of Dickerson I'm going to lean more towards defense again. Either another playmaking LB, CB or even a NT. In particular Alameda Ta'amu. I would enjoy a disruptive high motor, aggressive, strong & massive Samoan jamming inside lanes. Anyway good stuff from John as always your input is welcome.

I'm glad to see there are so many offensive players listed in the top 32 this should allow some high quality defensive talent to fall to us in both the 1st and 2nd rounds. I think we'll be picking around the 18th spot. I agree with you regarding Alameda Ta'Amu, it would be nice to see a huge, strong Samoan in the middle of our D-line, I'm just not sure he's 1st round talent yet. There's also several good ILB's listed as 1st round talent and I think this could be one of our top priorities in next years draft due to the injuries to Ryans and Cushing. I think we've found some depth at WR, (Jean, Dickerson, Maehl, and Tolliver) freeing us from drafting one next year so I could see another draft like the last one, very heavy on defense. I would probably throw in an O-lineman around the 4th or 5th round but other than that I'd go all defense. I see the biggest needs at NT, ILB, FS/SS depending on Quin's performance, CB depending on KJ's performance, OLB, and 3-4 DE. Let's hope there some depth at these positions come next April.

I've had my eye on Vontaze Burfict since his freshman year. That guy has Ray Lewis potential in the middle of a 34.

Ta'amu and Burfict are the guys I am looking at here. Both those guys should be available at the end of the first, and both could step in as starters.

Well time has gone by and I still see little past AJ & Walter so I am sticking with Jeff Fuller for now. I want to follow Burfict this season to get to know him better. Gonna move Ta'Amu up to 2nd for now as only huge NT & I am hoping many of those "lighter DTs" are selected before him. Mario is still a huge concern for me.

Went looking in there for Alphonso Dennard.

I think he will be borderline first rounder out of Nebraska. Might be a better pure cover cb prospect than amukamara.

Amukamara may turn out to be the better overall player, but as far as purely a man to man cover corner, I like Dennard more.
