Jim Harbaugh

Yup, you guys are right, O'Brien is a much better coach than Harbaugh

I thought this was a rebuilding season where nearly everyone expected us to only win 4-6 games, NOW all of the sudden if we stink it up we are supposed to replace O'brien....

Am i color blind and our guys are wearing black and grey ???

heck yeah i'd bring him in, though i'm certain mcnair wouldnt. 38-13 as a head coach with a team talented in ways very similar to the texans. conference championship games and a superbowl appearance with 2 different quarterbacks in that time - one of which was a 3 win bust in 2010 turned into a 13 win stud in 2011.

i hate the rebuilding talk. we're much too talented for that. all-pros at WR, LT, C and HB on offense and strong talent everywhere but quarterback. the best player in the game on defense, top 2 rounds at linebacker and a very strong secondary that's been ranked near the top for the past couple of seasons.

if someone better is available now, why wait to see if 2017 is the year we turn it around?

Are you drunk? Bored? Both?

I'm just as angry about today's game as anyone, but O'Brien has been a head coach for five games.

And, I'm already tired of people saying that he's running a "college" offense, when the guy has been in the NFL for decades.

Think people. THINK.

yall know me, i'm pretty dense. what is the incredulity with this hypothetical? that harbaugh would be let go? that we would ever even consider the move? or that he wouldnt be a good coach here?

or is it just the issue of throwing out random hypothetical thoughts?

The fundamental problem is coaches simply don't get BBD'd. The 2nd fundamental problem is the financial onus of paying the highest paid coach in the NFL and paying out all but 1 year of OB's contract to not have him coach on top.

i dont think money would be an issue if mcnair thought he'd be guaranteed wins. if the texans were to make an appearance in the superbowl or a couple of deep playoff runs, we'd eat heavily into the dallas market and prices would go up around here quite a bit. and with the money mcnair has thrown around, he wants to win - i get the impression he would gladly pay for it.

I would crap-can sphincter chin in a New York minute for Harbaugh.

Call me crazy, but I actually value NFL coaches with superbowl
experience..

No way McNair has the "hangy things" to do it though. We are
saddled with BoB and the "short bus" version of the NE offense
for a minimum of the next 2.5 years..

Dude, you're still whining about OB having fired Wade. Of course you'd fire him.

Btw: Wade was justifiably fired, and will not be back. You might want to start dealing with that fact...

.."Dude"..

1) I don't whine about anything. If you're happy with the trajectory
of this team then more power to you

2) Just because I have Wade flashing a coog shocker as an avatar has
_NOTHING_ to do with my opinion on his firing or retaining.
(you first shot at mind reading = fail)

BoB, so far, is proving to be the mediocre hire I feared he would be..

Lol @ wanting to fire someone after five games.

The topic wasn't about just "firing" BoB.

It was about _replacing_ him with Harbaugh..

Jim has shown me enough to know he can win. Right now
BoB is still a roll of the dice.

If I had to gamble on either one, I'd pick the known commodity

Lol @ wanting to fire someone after five games.

has almost nothing to do with o'brien himself. the argument i see is the potential to make the team significantly better, especially at the quarterback and play design positions, without touching the salary cap. why NOT upgrade? because in a few years the current guy might develop into a coach near as good?

Here's another angle... so no one is concerned that a coach may lead his team to their 4th consecutive NFC championship game, 2nd super bowl in the past 4 years, and a super bowl championship... but will still get fired!? No one is concerned that the rumor is he gets along with no one and he's creating turmoil in the locker room?

I admit BOB is a gamble, but I think Harbaugh would be a gamble as well.

Not that I believe JH is a consideration in any way shape or form but he has been to 3 straight NFC championship games and a superbowl. We in 13 years have had 2 playoff births and 3 #1 overall picks.

They say Bellichick is an a-hole too but he wins..

I am tired of being on the losing end year after year.
As long as the guy isn't breaking the law -- I'd take him.

It's been a REALLY long drought since the 94-95 rockets..

I hear what you guys are saying, and I mostly agree... it all should basically come down to wins & losses, everything else is secondary. But at the same time, you guys are willing to blindly accept that the 49ers organization are making the dumbest move in NFL history? You guys have no concern about what's going on in the background?

that's where few believe it, the 49'ers would be completely idiotic to make this move. HOWEVER, if harbaugh is having a 2013 kubiak moment by losing control of the locker room it wouldnt be out of the question - that first domino can turn into disaster quickly. with each report it becomes harder to keep everyone together, though that doesnt matter if they win because the man writing checks will keep him.

the harbaughs by all accounts are solid family. brash and difficult certainly, but not eating fetuses and setting towns on fire. there's nothing wrong with having a coach being an a-hole as long as you're winning. these are grown men being paid millions, they'll get over their hurt feelings.

Yeah, but he's on the other side of the fence and the grass is green over there. :bubbles:

So when McNair drops O'Brien after one season, then Harbaugh comes and goes, where's Houston on the list of preferred destinations for coaching candidates? Right next to Oakland and Cleveland? That list is real for every candidate. O'Brien had options before choosing Houston.

And consider that O'Brien is the guy who talked Andre off the ledge, while Harbaugh is being alienated.

I'm thinking this thread needs an alternate title: "Let's throw a tantrum by suggesting desperate management decisions because we lost to the Cowboys."

O'Brien didn't talk Andre Johnson off the ledge get serious. CREAM talked Andre Johnson off the ledge, good grief some of you guys have fallen hard for Ol' Butt Chin.

And if O'Brien had 'options' as you say why did he choose Houston since you somehow insinuate that Harbaugh wouldn't give this city a sniff. IIRC McNair blitzed O'Brien hard and fast, whirlwind romance and bam one week later we have this new messianic head coach who will lead the team to the holy land, err the promised land.

Where is the tantrum? Grown adults are trying to have a discourse while some ticked off blue blooded TT lifers get all huffy puffy about saying anything negative about the team. Get over yourself.

:troll:

It's not gonna happen. It's way too soon to ship Obie out the door.

If he implodes like Singletary, Green, or Mora did, I could see it happen... Herm Edwards... I thought he's gotten close. You can see his frustration at some of the questions he's asked.

"Trap game??"

I thought he was going to go there.

Good for Mcnair. He is usually passive, and he went out and got the guy that he wanted. Don't forget to mention what he paid out to land O'Brien as well.

Sometimes it is easy to just see a spade for a spade. You like to throw out random crazy stuff to get responses. Suggesting that the Texans need to prove that they are serious so they should go get Harbaugh right after they hired a guy is not only something no team would do, but definitely not the Texans. What in Mcnair's history would lead you to believe that even has a snowball's chance in hell of happening? O'Brien has only coached here for 5 games, and this team is 3-2 and was an OT away from being 4-1. They are moving at a good pace considering that they were just a 2-14 team last season. They have no QB, and they are winning games ugly as expected and trying to grind through games to get a win. And you want to trash the HC considering all of that in only 5 games? Lol!

I stand by what I said from the beginning.

I don't see anyone mentioning tenure on the MB but you...again. Get over yourself and have a conversation without trying to play martyr.

Jed York @JedYork
Thank you #49ersfaithful for coming out strong tonight. This performance wasn't acceptable. I apologize for that

I'd say the writing is on the wall.

Gooble jive turkey.

At least our bad QB is cheap! Watching Kaep play this season, and most of last season, goes to show the saying is true... No matter how good or bad the QB looks in their first season, you truly don't know if you have your franchise QB until the 3rd year. 9ers missed their window.
