It's official: O'Brien is gone!

I think the question of who wanted Brock has been answered. McNair/Yes man Rick. I for one is not sold on Miller either. His speed seems to be gone. No big plays then Miller isn't all that much. Dancing to the hole and then down after one hit. I think BOB can't do any worse than Ricky has. Get rid of Rick.

Hold on now. I'm pretty sure Lamar Miller, Braxton Miller, & Dj Reader were steelbtexan's picks. As well as Stephen Anderson & Kj Dillon.

?

Check out my old mocks.

Stop talking out your butt.

:ok:

Great news.

My perfect FA offseason is

Osweiler/Miller/L. Green or Fleener, plus re-signing Brooks.

5. D.J. Reader Clemson- DT, Reader is a huge man who has great quickness, he made Lawson/Dodd look good because he was constantly demanding double teams. Country strong and a guy Wilfork can eat BBQ with/show the ropes on how to become an NFL player.

For Goff I would do it.

I wouldn't like it but I would do it. Would it be an overpay? Most likely

I've got Goff rated on the Luck/Winston/Ryan scale.

You can find quality OL/WR's/TE's in rds 2-4/FA. Well, most GM's can, Rick not so much

For instance Fahn Cooper/Le'Raven Clark should be available in the 3rd. Braxton Miller/Braverman should be available in the same range.

I could be wrong, but I recall you pushing pretty hard for Reader, Stephen Anderson, & Kj Dillon during the draft... might have been some other guy who's player analysis I respect.

I do remember discussing Lamar Miller with you. My stance was that Miami wouldn't let him leave. But they did.

And with a mutual parting of the ways the owner doesn't have to pay next year's salary. Bud Adams used it to get rid of coaches he didn't want. When Bum Phillips wouldn't play ball, Adams ran a public smear campaign against him.

And there was a thread on here talking bad about McNair, man, just remember what we used to have.

I missed terribly on Os. Ricky and I have something in common. Should've listened to BOB. I thought and still think that a 2 yr gamble on Os was a good bet. I thought he could be a Schaub level QB. Boy was I wrong.

Brooks sure would look good playing RG this weekend.

There were a lot of 2nd & 3rd effort plays from the Packers, breaking tackles, same 2nd & 3rd effort on the defensive side, rallying to the ball. I didn't see as much effort from the Giants, I wouldn't say they quit, but the effort wasn't as consistent as what I saw from Green Bay.

That hail Mary touchdown broke their backs. Remember before that they sacked Rodgers like 4 or 5 times. The defense was actually dominating.

I don't think we missed terribly on Osweiler. Not yet. I know that sounds crazy considering what we've seen. I don't know that the Texans have soured on him either. Yeah, he was benched. But the Raiders benched Carr his rookie season too. I'm just saying benching Osweiler doesn't necessarily mean it's over.

I didn't have a problem swapping Allen for Brooks. I thought Brooks was missing a mean streak.

O'Brien may or may not want out - I dont' know (unlike some of you, I don't believe or not believe things based on whether I want them to be true), but if indeed he does want out, I hope the conversation with McNair goes something like this:

Bill O'Brien: Mr. McNair, I'd like to move on to something other than Head Coach of the Texans
Bob McNair: Well Bill, I can't force you to coach this team next season, although I'd like to see you back.
OB: Well, I'm just not happy with a number of the moves Rick Smith is forcing on me.
BM: Ya know Bill, you've just finished 3 above .500 seasons in a row, back to back division championships, your first (and our third) playoff win, and if we can figure out the QB situation, there's no telling what we might do over the next few years. Given all that, I don't give a rats ass whether you can't stand to be in the same room as Rick, or whether you want to make him your son's godfather.
OB: But to go back to what you said earlier, you're not going to force me to coach?
BM: It's America in 2017 Bill, I couldn't do that if I wanted to!
OB: Okay, so can I get a recommendation from you for one of the other owners?
BM: Oh hell no, I said I couldn't force you to coach here, I didn't say I'd let you coach another NFL team. You're free to step away, but if you choose to do that, we're not paying you, and you're not coaching another NFL team while your contract is unexpired.
OB: Okay then, see you tomorrow!

Doesn't really sound like McNair, but as stupid as this sounds, I wouldn't be surprised to see McNair do something surprising.

If O'Brien "wants out", that could hurt his resume - just like it would ordinary John Q Citizen. I don't think he would want that.
If anything, I reckon he is just asking for more control and that is fair enough in my mind.
It probably caused a bit of a kerfuffle with Rick but tough.

I believe something is there. I don't know what it is. I don't think it's Brock. Could be any number of things.

But I feel Rick is easily controllable where O'b can say, "I need x..." & Rick will get x.
