I'm no expert, but this makes sense to me.

So it looks like some of the so called experts have the Raiders taking Jamarcus Russell with the number one pick, and the rest have him ranked number two behind Brady Quinn. I still think that only one quarterback will be taken by the time we pick. Does anyone think that Smith and/or Kubiak would even have him on their draft board? The only reason I've heard on here why we won't take him is because he won't be available. I only have watched him play in the bowl game. Looked pretty good to me. Just curious what yall think.

Brady Quinn. Can somebody please tell me what makes this guy such a "NFL prospect?" I've only watched the guy play twice, but both times he stunk up the place. He seems like the equivalent of David carr in college. Doesn't look like he'd be good enough to be a back up in the NFL. But i'm basing that off two games (both agains higher ranked teams).

Brohm impressed me, if he comes out I hope we take him.

Marshawn Lynch. I keep hearing all this Adrian Peterson talk but it seems to me Marshawn Lynch should be the guy we take if we go that route. I don't believe we should get a running back, but AP would be another Domanick Williams. Or Brian Westbrook. Too injury prone! Lynch is FAST, down hill runner, sees the field really well, has good size. I think he'll be next years Joseph Addai. Unexpectingly outperforming the running backs drafted ahead of him.

Do we really want another DL in the first? If we get a DL it better be later in the draft or via FA.

I'm on the bandwagon that says beef up the secondary, and the Defensive linemen we have will suddenly seem like all-pros. theres nothing wrong with Babin, peek, questionably johnson, and who's the white dude that went down half way through the season? He seemed pretty good. Maddox has shown some flashes of brilliance. Weaver impressed me. Williams will be better next season, and he was the best lineman we had this year, arguably. give them more time to get after the QB, and you'll see the talent we already have. I just feel another DL high in the draft is a mistake. 2006 proved that DL don't have to go in the first to be good. There were second and third rounders that out performed Mario.

We have a good kicker. Hopefully this new punter will be better than Stanley. Mathis, when healthy is the best KO returner in the business, or at least one of them. We have good WR's, maybe should draft one this year. Our running backs are good enough, but would like to get a running back that will last all 16 games. Dayne is good when healthy, but only healthy half the time. Throw in D. Williams half the game and Dayne the other half, and mix it up with Taylor...we really don't need a running back that bad. Spencer has the left tackle position locked. Winston probably has a spot. Pitts is showing he has the stuff. I think Mckinney (spelling?) has a lot to do with Dayne's recent success, he should stay at center. All we need is a starting guard, and some more linemen to challenge. All this leads up to why I think QB is the way to go in the first round. Secondary, grab Clements, and draft the rest. Michael Griffin is not as good as Huff, but he seems to always be around the ball. Sound familiar? (Ryans) Focus on Secondary, and upgrade the QB we can be next years NO Saints. Just my humbled opinion.

Subconciously they think he'll be the next Tom Brady because his name is Brady. Too bad for him that his name isn't Joe Wyoming. Someone would pick him #1 overall.

Or that he has two years experience in a pro style offense with one of the best offensive minds in all of football coaching him. Then you add his size and athletic ability into the equation. Oh and his arm aint too shabby either.

Pretty good post. I agree with a lot of it, and really puts things in perspective.

On our offensive line, Spencer's injurey may be more serious than we think which really scared me. If he didn't get injured I'd say he is our Lt for sure. Hopefully winston can achieve to be our RT but imo i havn't seen enough to say he's our best bet at RT and we're playoff bound. I like Pitts and I like Weary. McKinney should stay on the team as a guard/center and/or backup. Center needs to be addressed. Hogdon isn't it..Flanagan is old. Maybe he'll be ok for next year with one we get this draft learning. I'd like to see us get a good Center in the draft. I don't know who the best is but Khalil sticks out the most to me. I'd like him in the 3rd but may be taken late 2nd? only guessing though. Joe Thomas is the only guy worthy of our pick..but should be gone

On our Running Backs, I'll start off saying that I really like AP. I don't know much about Lynch although he may be a better fit. I am worried about peterson being injured..but both could be a good pick up. With that said..I don't think we should address that with our first pick. Hopefully DDW will be a little healthier to at least play a few games. But I think Dayne, Lundy, Taylor will be fine for us next season. I say fine because they are not the long term answer...I'd like us to address a franchise RB in next years draft (although O-Line will be strong too). I'd like us to have our oline playing better and then plug in a stud rb.

Quarterback., David Carr I don't think is going to be here much longer. I can see him here untill his contract runs out in 2 years? I don't want us to get rid of him and start a QB we draft this year. I'm more open with this qb situation than I have been. Whether it's carr, sage, or some veteran we bring in to play...i feel should only be there as stopgap kind of guy. I'd like kubiak to be grooming a guy for a year or two and then put him in when our line is better, the qb has learned a lot more, and a better rb. Kinda like rivers in san diego finally playing. Don't think we should draft a qb at #8 for this reason.

Wide Receiver/Tight End Calvin Johnson would be the only guy I would want the texans to draft at #8. But even if he's there, I don't think I would take him but try and trade down. I feel the receivers are fine...tight ends too. shouldn't be our 1st pick.

Defensive Line. I love Mario. Gaines Adams would be a great complement on the other side with Moving Weaver inside. I don't know if this would be the best use of the pick...plus gaines will probably be gone too. Alan Branch is the DT highly talked about. Does Michigan play a 3-4 or a 4-3? i dont know..but it's important to know how he'd do in our 4-3 and not play him out of position or it could be a waste. Mario definitly needs some help. I don't like the idea of picking another DL with our pick for the 4th time in a row..but we could go this way. wouldn't be my favorite but it should help and you'd think we would get it right one of these times. The DL did get better towards the end of the year imo with all the injuries too. take that into account.

LineBacker. one word Demeco. i mean DROY. kids amazing and needs some help. If you look at his solo tackles compared to everone else in the nfl he's light years ahead. they have a lot more assisted tackles because they have more help...so their total tackles comes farely close to demecos. Picking up Patrick willis would be the only person i would consider in the first round. Question is where do we put him and where do we put demeco. but its a good problem to have. i dont think i would pick willis up at 8 with our other needs but if we trade down to where we get a 2nd or 3rd rounder...he will be gone. Greenwood has done better than i thought..but we need another olb on the other side...i think picking one up in the 2nd or 3rd rd should be the way we go.

Safeties I like Glenn Earl as our SS. CC is more of a SS than FS...have him and earl battle for the starter spot with the other backing up. I could see us drafting Landry or Nelson with our 8spot. either would be a huge help on our cb's and could create havoc. Michael Griffin should be gone in the 1st. and I don't see our staff drafting merriweather from miami. those are the top guys. don't know of any FA's to pick up.

CB, Robinson needs somebody else helping him out. there has been talk about gettin a #1 cb and moving him to #2. I don't care. if we get a guy that is better than him...then sure! Clements and Samuel are huge FA's that will be hard to get. it would be huge if we got one. This is another spot we might get high in the draft...if that's the case i'd like us to trade down a bit to pick up another 3rd rounder and still be fairly high up to get the guy we want. hopefully we'll have a partner.

Those are my thought and it looks like i agree with you. there are a lot of ways we can go with our spot which is a good thing..having more options. and not reaching on a guy in a need position. every spot is a need position.

i didn't see us going to the playoffs this year. I don't next year. I hope we dont get in the mentality to try and push it. by that i mean paying big money with FA's...ala Washington and still suck. but have less money. I hope we actually build our lines up this time...take the time but have a killer team in 3 years. go texans and i think we can do it.

Honestly Brady Quinn impresses me more than Brohm. I see alot of talent around Brohm but not nearly enough around Quinn. Plus Brohm looks like a stone statue...so slow when I saw him play. It also looks to me that Quinn reads defenses more and better than Brohm.

quinn plays for notre dame. I find it hard to believe that he doesnt have alot of talent around him.

First..... I like Jamarcus... Don't see what people see in Brady. I would take Brohm over Quinn any day.

Second....... we won't draft a QB. If we get a new QB in '07, it will be because we want to win, meaning Veteran.... not Garcia..... I doubt Plummer.... I'd like to see Batch. we could send Lundy, & Roc Alexander for him..... or something like that. VanPelt & Roc.. or something.

Third, if we get Adrian Peterson, that means David will Start... & we'll look to the rookie to carry our offense.

I understand that people are leary of AP and his 2-3 freak weird injuries but Frank Gore had MAJOR problems in this area. In this day and age, you recover. AP recovered and played - done.

As for Lynch, I do like Lynch but he is NOT faster than AP. AP is like 6'2" - 225 and runs in the upper 4.3's low 4.4's. Also, Lynch does not run heavy. Granted, he does drop that shoulder at times but he's and Edge clone IMHO. He's shifty with great burst but he's not as fast as AP.

IMO - I'd take either but AP would be the pick at 8 and Lynch would be the pick if we were at 15 or so.

EVERY SINGLE YEAR someone drops. We're going to have a good shot to get a good player. However, we may seriously want to trade down.
