So it looks like some of the so called experts have the Raiders taking Jamarcus Russell with the number one pick, and the rest have him ranked number two behind Brady Quinn. I still think that only one quarterback will be taken by the time we pick. Does anyone think that Smith and/or Kubiak would even have him on their draft board? The only reason I've heard on here why we won't take him is because he won't be available. I only have watched him play in the bowl game. Looked pretty good to me. Just curious what yall think.
Brady Quinn. Can somebody please tell me what makes this guy such a "NFL prospect?" I've only watched the guy play twice, but both times he stunk up the place. He seems like the equivalent of David carr in college. Doesn't look like he'd be good enough to be a back up in the NFL. But i'm basing that off two games (both agains higher ranked teams).
Brohm impressed me, if he comes out I hope we take him.
Marshawn Lynch. I keep hearing all this Adrian Peterson talk but it seems to me Marshawn Lynch should be the guy we take if we go that route. I don't believe we should get a running back, but AP would be another Domanick Williams. Or Brian Westbrook. Too injury prone! Lynch is FAST, down hill runner, sees the field really well, has good size. I think he'll be next years Joseph Addai. Unexpectingly outperforming the running backs drafted ahead of him.
Do we really want another DL in the first? If we get a DL it better be later in the draft or via FA.
I'm on the bandwagon that says beef up the secondary, and the Defensive linemen we have will suddenly seem like all-pros. theres nothing wrong with Babin, peek, questionably johnson, and who's the white dude that went down half way through the season? He seemed pretty good. Maddox has shown some flashes of brilliance. Weaver impressed me. Williams will be better next season, and he was the best lineman we had this year, arguably. give them more time to get after the QB, and you'll see the talent we already have. I just feel another DL high in the draft is a mistake. 2006 proved that DL don't have to go in the first to be good. There were second and third rounders that out performed Mario.
We have a good kicker. Hopefully this new punter will be better than Stanley. Mathis, when healthy is the best KO returner in the business, or at least one of them. We have good WR's, maybe should draft one this year. Our running backs are good enough, but would like to get a running back that will last all 16 games. Dayne is good when healthy, but only healthy half the time. Throw in D. Williams half the game and Dayne the other half, and mix it up with Taylor...we really don't need a running back that bad. Spencer has the left tackle position locked. Winston probably has a spot. Pitts is showing he has the stuff. I think Mckinney (spelling?) has a lot to do with Dayne's recent success, he should stay at center. All we need is a starting guard, and some more linemen to challenge. All this leads up to why I think QB is the way to go in the first round. Secondary, grab Clements, and draft the rest. Michael Griffin is not as good as Huff, but he seems to always be around the ball. Sound familiar? (Ryans) Focus on Secondary, and upgrade the QB we can be next years NO Saints. Just my humbled opinion.
