$50,000 to knockout a QB for 6 weeks with a dirty hit

Mario & Ryans ought to take out Manning & Collins.

I would like to see the Colts with Sorgi running the show for 6 weeks.

It would be worth the money. IMO

How about Schaub filing criminal charges like they do in hockey?

Maybe Schaub should just do some head-stomping ala Haynesworth.

The suspension would be less than the time he'll miss with the injury, and it'll send a message.

Kidding, obviously.

What I'd really like to see is some hard cut blocking. I thought the Texans were supposed to employ a very high injury scheme against opposing DLs. I've yet to see a single DL go down against a cutblock from one our guys. I'm not advocating injury, I just want them to use the technique thats supposed to put the fear of God into DL

If Mario did to Manning what Allen did to Schaub, he would have a 4 game suspension.

Unfortunately that is the way the NFL works.

The Mannings are the royalty of the NFL landscape.

50k divided by 11 is 4545.45. With everyone's play they should contribute that much so that whoever gets the fine doesn't have to pay it all himself.

These teams ought to be glad I'm not running things. After the Schaub debacle, I'd be paying the fines for guys like Bulman and Cochran. Sweep the leg!

I said the same thing to my dad right after the game. Great point my man.

Who says you gotta have MW do it , have the last guy on the bench go in and blast him ....

Buddy is that you ?! We could use a DC here in Houston .... Bounties :money:

I'd take Buddy Ryan in a heartbeat over anything we've had here since he left. Hell, maybe we could get him to punch Richard Smith on the way out.

You and me both .... bounties on opposing players , punching people in the mouth players and defenses that were downright mean .... we are so far removed from that .... its like the GOP 30 years ago as compared to today.

What was that helmet his ST players use to wear ? .....

Amen

Atleast Buddy knew what type of defense he wanted to run & the type of players he needed to run it. This is why he could take late rd. draft choices & turn them into probowlers. (Simmons, Joyner, Dent, Fencik & Bishop to name a few).

I wonder if the greatness that is Dick Smith will ever lead to the late rd. choices of HOF players like Ryans system did.

I cant find the sarcasm thingy.

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic about Mario taking out Manning.

I'll never root for a player to get hurt.

I root for the Texans & anything that helps the Texans is fine with me.

I'm tired of other teams cheap shoting our QB. I think pay back is the only way to stop the cheap shots.

I wish the NFL wasn't this way but oh well let the games begin.

The Texans need someone like Allen or Haynesworth. Dirty hits are part of the game (stomping is something entirely different) and a thug on either side of the ball is always needed. Hell, Alex Gibbs made his career by coaching guys to put dirty hits on guys.

This will never happen. Three defensive lineman broke free on one play in the first half....all were within stirking distance of Manning as he released the ball. All three stoped dead in their tracks at the same instant. Just like Pavlov's dog and the bell, these guys are taught...read had it drumed in thier heads...under no circumstances...do you cheap shot the other QB. No doubt they would of drawn the flag, fines and suspensions...but you won't see this type of play, wilfully pasting the QB when it's close, as long as Kubes is the ring master.

Thank goodness.

I don't want this team to progress for making a few cheapshots in the season, we achieve nothing then, apart from finding a dirty way to pick up a few W's. I'd rather give it time, than willfully endangering football player's health and careers.

Apparently Allen didn't get this memo from the Vikes.

I agree with you TTP about Kubes.

We need an Allen type player or MS will continue to get cheap shot.

It really is not about injuring the other teams QB as much as it is about keeping MS healthy.

If the other team knows that we will take out their QB if they cheap shot MS they will be less likely to cheap shot MS.

You guys saying we can't cheap shot because no one gets to the QB are forgetting one small, important detail. Jared Allen took his shots after Schaub released the ball. It doesn't matter when you do it.

I'm not saying you go after people's knees, especially not in a clean game but a late shoulder to Frerotte's chest wouldn't have bothered me one iota. After that shot to Schaub I would've sent a guy (probably Leach, since he ain't afraid) after Allen to blow him up on every play. Just trying to block him WINK.

The NFL is less fun to watch when the great QBs go down. I'd much rather beat a team being led by Manning than hoping for a cheap shot on taking him out. There is satisfaction in watching Peyton walking off the field after losing to the Texans. We saw it...once. Hope we can see it again some year sooner than later.

Well, after all the subsequent posts, I'll go ahead and reiterate that I'm all for retaliatory cheap shots. If they do it first, come back twice as hard. Contrary to popular belief, violence does solve some problems.

I certainly understand your perspective, but violence begets violence. And at that point, it comes down to who has the bigger stick and the baddest attitude. So judging from the Stay-Puff attitude of our offensive linemen as it pertains to protecting (and defending) our QBs, I think we will end up on the losing side of that proposition 99.9% of the time.

I see linemen on other teams routinely get in the faces of defenders after they get to close to their QB. Maybe it's the family-friendly atmosphere of this franchise, or perhaps it's the niiiiiiice Kum-Ba-Yah demeanor of our coaches and QBs, but our linemen seem to lack the mean streak required to play this particular retaliation game. We had better stock our roster with multiple QBs if we want to participate in this cycle of violence.
