I would say that the stats Peyton had under Fox as compared to Gary Kubiak would say otherwise. You don't know what you are talking about.

I'm not paying him ~$25M and leaving myself only $4M or so after draft picks to add to the team. I'm also not losing any more draft picks in this endeavor. I'm assuming we will extend Hopkins as well.
I get that some people would prefer that we had spent some of this money on FAs that have already been signed, but try to ask yourself what you'd do now that they are gone.

Anyone who watched a single game of Peyton's last season could see he was physically incapable.
Love to see that Oz guote on Fox.
Lol at Kubiak having once but no more being a good OC. Baltimore went from 25th pts/29th yds to 8th & 12th in one offseason with Kubiak. Upon his departure they fell back to 25th & 14th.
If you trade for Romo, he would only cost his salary for this season which is ~14M, the 25M is his cap hit which includes signing/restructuring bonuses. Trading for him would have hits of 14,18,22 M I believe over the next 3 years, but none of it is guaranteed which means he could be cut at anytime with no dead money, so that has its advantages as well over a new deal.
Are you sure the restructure bonus would fall on the Cowboys and not Romo's new team? I'm pretty sure you're right about the $5M in signing bonus

While it is true Peyton could not make the throws he once did, I still believe Peyton would have had a bit more success under John Fox. We will just have to agree to disagree on that. You are confusing concepts. Peyton would've been great under Kubiak. Kubiak would have a hard time coaching under a Peyton offense, especially with the collapse of their offensive line - a major reason Elway dropped Fox for Kubiak. Wildly different scenarios. You're also ignoring that Peyton's arm had fallen off and his feet were broken. Manning could've had Don Shula and Vince Lombardi as his coaches, he simply couldn't make the throws anymore. That was obvious in week 1 when he missed Sanders twice on routine game changing throws.
I am all for the Texans going with the Qb's we have on our roster and drafting another Qb anywhere between round 1 to round 4 to compete for the starting role. If the Qb's we have struggle we can draft another

I will agree with the fact that the Ravens improved but prior to him leaving us how good was the offense? His time in Denver agrees with me. Gary's success also concided with the fact that he could solely focus on offense. As a head coach his offenses in his last four or so years as a head coach dropped off.Anyone who watched a single game of Peyton's last season could see he was physically incapable.

John Fox was head coach and it was his offensive coordinators that Peyton did his best with. I simply bring up Fox due to him being a head coach as was Gary Kubiak.John Fox is a defensive coach. The offense was by Mike McCoy (WC) Peyton's 1st year and Adam Gase (EP) the 2nd & 3rd.
It never seemed to return with him as a head coach after. No, they fell off only in the QB debacle of 2013.
Ummmm, no. Kubiak walked in, installed a new system specially adapted to Manning in one offseason, had a backup start almost half the season and won a SB.
Thanks in large part to Wade Phillips and a mostly healthy top rated defense.had a backup start almost half the season and won a SB.
The Os of Denver was better by a lot over what Os was while in Houston. I will say in hind sight Gary was better for Os than O'b was.somehow you make it sound *easier* that in must have been.
remember that it wasn't just "a backup", it was Os![]()

However I do feel that Gary deserved at least one more season with us to see if he could turn things around. I for sure like Gary Kubiak more than Bill O'Brien.

It's possible that Jones is asking for a draft pick that is higher than the Texans are willing to give up. With the numbers being shown for Romo's contract, it would be a no brainer to make the trade. So, it has to be what Jones is asking for in the trade. Can anyone come up with any other reason why we wouldn't make the trade given the non guaranteed contract Romo would have with us?This, in my opinion, is what we should have already done. The only reasonable reason to not have, is that Jerrah doesn't want Romo with the "Other" Texas team and is trying to pee on Mc Nairs Wheaties. Or maybe he is hoping to get a bidding war going between us and the Broncos. My gut says he doesn't want any more competition for fans in Texas, so no Romo to us as he is pretty popular with folks in Texas.
Is anyone hearing a trade for Romo with Pittsburgh? Rumors are floating but I see nothing official.
Romo not wanting to come here, everybody assumes he will be thrilled to come here. but what if he just doesn't like BOB or something along the lines of that? It's possible that Jones is asking for a draft pick that is higher than the Texans are willing to give up. Free agent period isn't over yet.I suppose that if the Texans were that interested in Romo something would have already been done. Why it hasn't transpired is any one's guess.
Asking price, Romo's or Jerruh's. or just leery of all the injuries?
It's looking more and more like we are standing pat on our QB situation. 1. Savage 2. Weeden 3. Rookie. Early or late round ???
Glad to be rid of Oz but why the rush to free up all the cap space and stand around with your hands in your pockets.
This truly looks more and more like a dysfunctional franchise.

shh everyone has a fantasy...Why on earth would Romo sign with the Browns?
Including not wanting to give up a draft pick for a player that will probably be released
He had done a good job in Baltimore but the main reason he got such a coveted job was his familiarity with John Elway and the Broncos as Elways back up. It sure didn't hurt Gary's chances at getting the job.Right, say what you want about Kubiak, but it took one sec for him to land another coordinator job, then one season to land another HC gig, a coveted one at that.

We will just have to agree to disagree on Gary Kubiaks value and part in winning a title. You're right. It didn't hurt that Kubiak had experience adapting an offense to get an aging QB with a career of relying on his arm to win a SB.
It worries me as well.Calling all experts--
Seems to me entirely possible that even if we do get Romo there is no reason to believe he will excel in this particular offense. Further, there is no reason to believe our bull-headed coach will redesign the offense to cater to Romo's strengths. This worries me. Please tell me it doesn't worry you and why.

I have come a conclusion on Romo's release being delayed.
Romo wants to be in Houston. Houston wants Romo here and Jerry doesnt like this idea AT ALL.
If Dak goes out next year and hits a sophomore slump and Romo has even the slightest of success in Houston, Cowboy fans will be screaming like the bitches they are. If by some miracle Romo leads the Texans to their first Super Bowl Jerry wouldnt be able to eat or sleep. He controls NFL fandom in this state and doesnt like the idea of anyone moving in on his turf. He is playing a game hoping Denver will bite as Romo is probably "ok" with going there but they are ultimately his 2nd choice. He cant trade him anywhere else because Tony will just say "no. I wont play there" and negate the trade. If he has success in Denver Jerry would see it as not that big of a deal because he is far away in Colorado. For those who dont know "football culture" in Texas its basically bigger than God and the Switch
Jerry wants his cake and to eat it too but he is in a losing situation here. I firmly believe the Texans know he wants to come here and Jerry is scrambling at the last minute to avoid that situation. Rick and BOB are just waiting it out.
It worries me as well.
I know Os was bad but I think O'b had plenty to do with just how bad Os was.
It is hard to know where the lions share of blame belongs. O'b is head of the offense next season and I doubt he will be able to pass the buck if things go bad next season..
Especially if he gets Tony Romo to work with.
Fitzpatrick had 17 TD to 8 INT, 8.0 Y/A and a 95.3 passer rating in this offense. Hell, Hoyer had 19 TD, 7 INT, 7.1 Y/A and a 91.4 passer rating.
