Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars. Noon. 9/16. **Official GameDay Thread**

I may get some flack for this, but....

CJ with VY > CJ with anyone else

CJ relied on that split second of hesitation that VJ gave to opposing defenses. He doesn't seem to have good enough vision to find it himself. And his speed is wasted on anything but long distance runs

Could be it. I think the only time he ever has good games now are against undisciplined defenses that over pursuit. Otherwise he looks terrible, always going sideways or backwards.

Lol. He's also that guy at Reliant who, when the Texans are on offense, scream loudly.

He doesn't appear to understand the importance of division games and division opponents.

I understand it perfectly. I just have a different perspective.

Many appear to take the approach that other teams need to lose in order for the Texans to advance and get into the playoffs, so they pull for the Colts, Jags and Titans to lose every game. My view is that if the Texans just take care of business then they will be fine. If the Texans win, then how can they miss the playoffs?

So I pull for lots of players and coaches around the league in games that aren't against the Texans.

Don't get too excited. This Vikings team that the Colts beat is the same team that barely beat the Jags last week. The Colts essentially played up to their feeble competition. :toropalm:

Not too excited. Just congrats to Luck and the Colts for a little success. A competitive division makes things interesting in the long run. I don't want the Colts to be a 1 or 2 win team forever.

Eh, I'll disagree with you there. i'd love to see the Colts be a 2 win team for the rest of their existence :D

We scored 27 points.
We had 200+ yards at ~5ypc
Our defense held Jax to 117 total yards, their lowest in franchise history.
They were doing so bad they benched Gabbert.
JJ Watt is an animal.

Total. Domination.

We had 400 + yards
Gabbert got hurt.

WHY ??? They didnt seem to care when we were a 4-5 win team every year, screw the colts. They had their 10 year run now its our turn.

Watt = future HOF

KJ looked great today.

If he keeps this up against Rodgers/Brady/Stafford I would like my crow smothered in brown gravy, LOL

I agree with you GP, but seriously, chill out with the biggest **** fan competition. Its possible for people to root for more than one team. Its possible to root for players that you have a personal connection to.

Its not like him saying "Congrats Luck" is in any way shape or form having any impact on the Colts or Texans chances of winning any games in the future.

I'm not cheering for the Colts anytime in the near future unless our AFC S victory is assured and they are playing a team that is vying with us for seeding. But its obvious this guy is a Texan fan first and foremost. We just won in a total domination. Lets feel the brotherhood a little :D

I haven't suffered 8 years of utter frustration with this team in this division for any Texans fan, here, to post "Yay! Colts win! Congrats to their QB" and not call it out.

OK, OK...I apologize for the unnecessary roughness foul I committed. But it's irritating that one fan here posted celebratory statements for the damn Colts.

that should def be done over there with the colts fans. But it is the same guy who said the Jags were going to be hungry for a win at home and predicted they beat us :whip:...well not the guy u replied to here but that bullz guy

i hope the colts lose every single game and everybody else in the afc south has sub .500 record :)

That would be a horrible outcome.

I'm still not over the fact that the Colts had a once in a generation type of talent in Manning, then "Luck'd" into the #1 overall pick. I hope Indy and the rest of the AFC South all stay at .500, being treadmill teams for years to come. They deserve to rot in mediocrity after stumbling onto another franchise player so soon.

"I'm not going to sit here and say I've got the answers for what went wrong with our team today," Jaguars guard Uche Nwaneri said. "But clearly we weren't firing on all cylinders."

LOL :spit:

understatement of the year

Not just because of the win, but mainly because of the way Luck has played, it looks like the Colts are ahead of both the Jags & Titans. They may be extremely competitive after a productive offseason.

But I agree, better competition in the AFC South is good for us.

Would u feel that way if Schaub, AJ or Foster went down. I sure as hell wouldnt.

I want every team in our division to get no more than 5 wins for the rest of my life besides the texans they can average 12-19 ;)

How is better competition better for us?

This isn't a charity event. We're not stopping on the track, when our competition falls down, and going back to help them up and escorting them to the finish line.

I hope all 3 of those teams suck every year. I hope we sweep all 3. I want their fans to see what it's like to look UP at us and to realize we're better than them. A dose of ass kicking is good for them for a change.

This is the moment we all, supposedly, waited for...and we're actually congratulating the Colts and wishing for better competition in the AFCS?

Is this real life? :(

Agree, we finally get on top after being the laughing stock of the division, hell of the NFL. And now i am supposed to feel compassion for the same fans who put us down all them years, and for the teams who were chunking long balls down the field when winning by 20+ points with 3 minutes left in the game. Yes that was the colts....

Screw all them, this is our time and i hope they watch us in admiration wishing our team was theirs.

I'm happy if the Texans win. Period.

Maybe other people are only happy if the Texans win and other particular teams or players do poorly. I just don't get a lot of pleasure out of others' disappointment, and don't wish for individual players to do poorly or for other teams' QBs to "get crushed" like some hope happen to Luck just because he is a Colt.

So, I pull for rookies and 2nd-year players like Luck, Robert Griffin, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert. I pull for former Texans such as Leach, Jacoby, Pollard, Dreessen, Winston, Mario, DeMeco, Breisel, and others that we all used to cheer on. They all deserve to experience the playoffs. I'm glad that Vick made a comeback and hope to see Peyton Manning make a great comeback and for guys like Romo, Stafford, Matt Ryan and coach Andy Reid, to have some success.

That can all happen while the Texans win games. One doesn't prevent the other.

It does whenever the texans play all the above you mentioned.....so in a way and at certain times it does prevent the other.

Stockholm Syndrome. We've been losers for so long that we're uncomfortable with winning.

Sad, but true.

Personally, I will never - EVER - forget how the Colts, Titans and Jags fans (and some of their players) treated us the last 10 years.

Our turn, bitches.

i remember the colts in one game at our house were winning big, there was less than 3 minutes less and the colts were throwing hail marrys down the field.

Screw the colts, jags and the titans. We are the best in the division now and will be for many many years to come. I wish kubiak would keep trying to score with less than 3 minutes less and us winning by 27 points to. Pay backs a BI***

I think you have false humility about all of this.

Root for Winston? Fine. I root for RGIII as well. For Jacoby and Leach and Pollard? Fine, as well. None of your examples here are appropriate for the real topic.

You're trying to swerve from the main point: Cheering for DIVISIONAL RIVALS. I just disagree on it.

I am not hoping Abilene Christian wins when it's always coming down to either my West Texas A&M University Buffaloes or Abilene Christian for the Lone Star Conference title every year.

It makes no sense.

Enough. It's silly.

If we are good, it doesn't matter. We'll beat them anyway. I personally don't want to be the Colts, or the 49ers, or the Saints who win their divisions by default. By the time play-offs come around, I want to be battle hardened having already beaten the best teams.

But that's just me, neither here, nor there & doesn't really matter.

But just because I say it only helps us if competition in our division was stronger, doesn't mean I think we should go back & help them off the railroad tracks. I'm not rooting for them to get better, or hoping for them to get better.

Just saying, I'd rather be the best team in the NFC East, than the best team in the AFC West. I'd rather be the second team in the AFC North than the first team in the AFC West.

This reminds me of last year when some people said they were bummed we didn't play against Peyton Manning...that somehow a victory over a Manning-less Colts team wasn't as satisfying.

LOL. Yeah, ummm...no. Beating the snot out of our divisional feels good no matter who plays or doesn't, no matter how good or bad those teams are. Any loss those three teams have, is GREAT for us. Their wins and losses matter on many levels; I want them to wallow in mediocrity. I'm a George Patton type of football fan: I want our divisional rivals to get their asses kicked over and over.

The Giants are proof that you don't have to be the league's best team...you don't even have to be the conference's best team...to win it all.

I can appreciate good play without coming onto a message board here and actively congratulating our divisional rivals. This isn't like some game to show how nice and sportsmanlike we are.

The Colts fans would always come over here and play that whole card on us in this same manner, it always felt like **** to be consoled by Colts fans. Gee, thanks! You guys are swell! I mean, gosh, you just slit our throats 45-10 and scored on a 35-yard pass to Harrison as time expired...and look, you're here to tell us how much you appreciate our hard work. Yuck. I hate false humility.

No need for us to start that tradition now that we're on top and they're not.

Maybe you're right. It wouldn't be sporting of us to not play against better competition.

I think we should volunteer to send some of our scouts, players, and coaches to the Jags, Titans, and Colts...and in exchange, they send us their players. A sort of Player & Personnel Exchange Program.

That would be more civilized and be a good gesture toward all.

No need for us to start that tradition now that we're on top and they're not.

You could be the ****tiest fan & the sorest loser for all I care. Doesn't change the fact that it is better for our team to actually have to work for their wins against our divisional foes.

Still, I'm not rooting for them, cheering for them, consoling them, or hoping they get better.

& the Giants are proof that a battle hardened team is better than a team that slept-walked through the season.

Wait, Texans win again by 20 and fans are bitching about how they won and not having good enough competition in the division? Am I understanding this?

Wow, never thought this day would come.....

I hear ya GP, I work in the same district where Andrew Luck went to High School and everybody is Pro-Luck and Pro-Colt. I told folks, he might be the nicest guy on the planet, but when he plays the Texans, well as Clubber Lang would say....

dead meat....

Who's complaining? All I said is it is better to be the best team in a tough division than the best team in a poor division. Surely you can agree with that.

Nope, because it doesn't matter. Patriots have been in a crappy division for years...How has it worked out for them? Colts in a crappy division, won a Super Bowl, Lost one. Niners, craptastic division...AFC championship and lost a Super Bowl bid because their punt returner sucks...

Makes no difference who is in your division or how good they are, as long as you beat the crap out of them and any other team that is inferior....

You think the Patriots worry about "better competition" in their division every year?

Yep.

It's "Awkward Theory Day," I suppose.

This isn't the SEC.

SOS doesn't matter as long as you just get in the playoffs, then anything goes.

Gabbert suffered not only a hamstring injury, but also a toe injury. MRI exam of both of these areas will be performed today.

Throughout the game, Gabbert appeared genuinely scared of losing more than just the game. Here we see him hanging on to one of his balls for dear life!

For everyone calling this a trap game, you were almost correct. You just transposed the "a" and "r".

It was a tarp game. [/obligatoryJacksonvilleTarpSmack]
