Houston Texans 2025 Training Camp

I'd expect an easy walk-thru style practice today. Tomorrow they are in Michigan for what I expect will be a close to real game physical scrimmage with the Lions.

These are two of the toughest teams in the NFL and I expect nothing less than an all-out clash, practice or reg season. Should be a good test for both teams and probably the best marker for where the Texans are this preseason. Same goes for their fans as these are two quality teams going at it mano-e-mano.

I remember watching the Houston Oilers practices at their practice field on Fannin. The contrast of those practices and all the practices I've watched for the Texans is all I need to understand why today's NFL players are so unprepared in general to show well in real games.

Robinson's practice participation consisted of holding the foam player dummies while the defense hits it. I asked if he participated in any other significant exercises that were not videoed and I was told no.

The practice did not include even a single player charged with putting hands up in front of the QBs.

Demeco is excited about facing the Lions in practice. Not going to be the same as a regular season game. I'd be surprised if the practice includes the starter except in limited presentation.

And for the Lions' third preseason game, it is unlikely that the team's projected starters will play at all. Most of the projected starters, such as Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Aidan Hutchinson, and Brian Branch have not played in the preseason so far and are not expected to play in the final game either. The Lions have chosen to focus on practices and joint practices for their starters rather than risking injuries in preseason games. This game will likely be reserved for the players competing for the last few roster spots.
