heres the situation (more reasons to draft Vince Young)

Practice Squad
If Moulds is added to the Texans, we are obviously set at WR, with plenty of comp to go around. RB we have the same deal. DD fought up the ladder, competing his way to the starting line up. I think Morency entering his second season will be sufficient comp to keep DD pushing himself.(IMO he has alread proven himself)

We have brought in a good center and players throughout the o-line can move back to their previous(correct) positions. With one more positive acquisition to the o-line, either by trade or draft should provide Carr with enough protection and fire power to flourish this season. The only thing Carr has not had since being a pro, is competition. Dont get me wrong, i think Carr has or had great potential(whether or not that has been depleted from him remains to be seen)and may still be our guy.

We know that Ragone and Rosenfelds are second stringers at best. Neither will provide Carr with the competitive fire he has needed since day one. To be on the safe side, i would draft Young to come in and push for the starting job. If he outperforms him through camp and preseason then we have a new starter. If not and Carr really steps up to the plate then he can mentor Young until he is ready to start or trade him or Carr next year. Lets face it. With all the damage Carr has suffered both mentally and physically tells me he wont stay healthy many more years. It would just suck to hell if this were his last healthy year and we had to draft a rookie QB next year to jump in his shoes.

You know what else would suck? If we surrounded Carr with all of this firepower and he still sucks(example: Harrington in Detroit)

We draft Bush, who steps in for Carr in ether situation. Not bush, although he can give DD, a break from action here and there. IMO, a trade off in talent they are both great dual threats. If Carr gets hurt or sucks we will still suck even with 10 great dual threat backs.

If not Vince Young we should trade down for the best OT available.

my buddies were talking about the Texans and bush. here is the situation 3rd adn goal at the 3 yard line.. who do you want Bush back there or a year or two from now Young.. who would put more pressure on a defense in that situation?

vince taking off and running (yes carr can run too) or Bush catching and running in that situation?

:stirpot:

For the record .. I personally like a RB that can pound the ball and possibly break one.. and as far as VY coming in .. (which I don't think will happen) he would sit for a couple of years..

I know what. If people stopped posting in the wrong forums. Then, I wouldn't get to move threads to the correct forums. And that would make me sad. :(

If you're about to type the words "Vince Young" or "Reggie Bush", make sure you are in the draft forum. Because they aren't Texans. Yet.

Does it really matter, Both of the Guys are freaks of nature. Both guys are loved by thier teammates, and both will have great NFL careers. I am a Vince Young fan and a Reggie Bush fan, so either guy is going to be great. I truly believe that both of the guys play with alot of heart, and both would upgrade the Texans in many ways. I hope that the Texans fans understand that bickering and fighting on this blog is not going to impact the decision of who the Texans will choose. If you guys want to sit and bicker about who is better head down to the Bar and fight it out. This blogarama catfight is so stupid.:challenge

I second that emotion!:yahoo:

Here's the REAL situation.

1. Reggie Bush is super mega talented.

2. VY is super mega talented. But that fact doesn't matter.

3. We gave DC his bonus and signed another QB. No matter what the Texans say, it ain't likely we are gonna sign another QB unless there was such a thing as a salary cap fairy.

4. MONARCH will say we are signing VY. As a utopian dreamer, there is something kinda nice about thinking that could occur, but I just can't see it unless a complete freaking miracle happens.

If we draft Young and end up trading him for whatever reason, there's no way we would get equal value for our pick. At best I think we would get a 2nd rounder, and that's if we're lucky.

There's no way you pick a guy w/ the #1 to "push" or "motivate" you're starting QB. That would be a complete waste of a pick IMO.

Me too... and wouldn't it be kinda nice to have D'Brickashaw Ferguson in front of him, paving the way to the end-zone? Not to mention an extra pick or two in the draft...

Great call.

funny thing...... as much as you and I don't agree, I can't seem to give you any more reputation points................

hmm...

says I've got to spread it around.

I think Monarch is some veteran members alter ego, the UT side, hes too funny.

I believe it's possibly the drug problem in Austin causing this delirium myself. Reality just never seems to enter the picture with this group LOL

Third & Goal on the 3 yard line? Take your pick: Bush, Davis, AJ, Moulds, Putzier, or even Carr running it in. Why does it have to be Vince or Reggie. The options are all nice.

I take Reggie myself.:twocents:

Why would the Texans want to take Young? They will be going against NFL defenses, not USC's. Vince Young will struggle big time in the NFL.

Frankly this is what the texans do. build around the QB position, give carr a chance with his new coach. if it doesn't work out, draft a QB next year. Brady Quinn is looking good. dont get stuck with top 1st overall QBs that never works out for a team
