Has anyone heard any updates on Dylan Horton?

Whether you are a business or a NFL team, there is a human side on how you treat your employees. It is just money, does not hit the cap, and the right thing to do. Other players see this and feel better about the support they would get from the organization in times of trouble, other than sucking and then getting cut. Think of how loyal and dedicated Dylan will be to the Texans if he does come back full speed
We know that but they routinely cut people for injuries, illnesses, and whatnot. ALL of these isn’t their fault and all of these deserve loyalty and support from the team.

I am trying to see it from a financial standpoint. Not buying the loyalty aspect as I own a small business myself. I know what makes my employees want to stay loyal but Dylan Horton has never played a down and he likely never will. Cancer is a tough animal to deal with in the NFL but so is a broken neck or ruptured achillles.

You stated no cap hit. That does help. How long are they going to carry him to where he fills an injury space on that IR?

I’m curious…

What are we holding on to him for? Could we get some compensatory picks out of it from the NFL? Why don’t we simply cut him and move on?
The Texans are holding onto him because he has talent and it's the right thing to do. It's not like he chose to get cancer. The McNair's can afford it, it's not costing a roster spot and, as CnD said, football is likely a strong motivator for him.
You're taking "football is a business" to a very cold-blooded level. People with life threatening illnesses shouldn't have to worry about their careers in the immediate sense.

I came to Akron, Ohio in March of 2017 to work as a commissioning engineer for First Energy. I didn't know anyone on the project. Sept. 14th 2017 I had surgery for a ruptured appendix. I spent ~3 weeks in the hospital due to infection that left me with a large, open wound for ~3 months. January 2018, I became a full-time single parent.
The project didn't fire me. They created a special role for me in project management, something that I had zero experience in. I'm eternally grateful and have deep loyalty to this project and the people who are running it.

Damn. I'd absolutely hate to work for you.

Thankfully I'll never have to.

If it makes you feel better, "I’d let him go for three 1sts if that was all we could get."

It does. Thank you. Even though you only said it to be “degrading/insulting” towards me. I’m not going to twist that into something you did -not- say… LIKE YOU DID.

I said mine out of -obvious- hyperbole. My point was that I was afraid that we would get nothing for him. I wanted to know if we could. At that point… I didn’t understand (and still don’t) his value… but go on and “checkmate” me with bullshit I did -not- say.

*eyeroll*

Clearly I failed to make my answers clear here. Now people are saying they would hate to work for me and stuff? Huh? And now I kinda feel like backpeddling? Nah. I know what I said and I know what I -meant-. You clearly didn’t. That’s ok. You and the others can make fun of me some more all y’all like… but… i’m -still- content with line my QUESTIONING here. Have a nice day.

Oh geez, it was a joke and not intended to degrade or insult you. You said you would trade Metchie for a 7th, and there is no "obvious hyperbole" there, particularly because you defended that decision later in your same statement. That's all I got, and do have a nice day.

Ha… ha. You funny. Nah… own your bullshit. I mean here you go… twisting once again…. I did not say I would. Not once. I defended nothing. I know what I said.

:)

I will.

Agree. I know that the NFL - and all major sports - are completely disconnected from the real world, but I really wonder if we would be having these same conversations if Dylan was on the Finance team and Metchie was over in Sales. Kind of makes us pause and recognize that these players are... human beings who need a support system to battle this awful disease.

Horton is back practicing this week. I hope he continues making strides in his recovery. Congrats to Horton on this milestone!

I did not expect that! Congratulations but I hope his strength is sufficient. I thought he would be out the entire season at least.
