Hall of Fame Game Aug 1 2024

I'm about to rewatch the game (something I haven't bothered to do in years) and try to evaluate the film...It's hard to see everything when watching live...
Imagine re-watching again a preseason game that yall forfeited cuz the baers 3rd string qb was putting on a clinque on ur azzes hahahhahahaa

It seems the worst part of this game were the coverage busts by the back 7. I could see the Texans making additions after camp cuts if they don’t fix those miscues in future preseason games.

Especially against a guy whomst is 3rd on da depth chart Rypien was RIPPING ur D apart and stealin ur gurl n her lunch money all day until yall forefitted roflmaoooo

So Cam Akers, who actually looked painfully slow, gets kudos for looking good against 3rd stringers yet Mills doesn’t sell you as a decent backup?

For a guy coming off 2 Achilles injuries, yes. Didn’t say he was on his way to the Pro Bowl or even making the team. I’ve seen Mills going on 4 years now. He is what he is.

Bears on offense. I hope the starting LB'ers look better, because these guys played like ass. Bullock is having to fly up deep from his FS spot way too often to make a play on a ball carrier. He ended up leading the team in tackles with 3 solos and 2 assists. Very disappointed in the LB play. DLine wasn't setting the world on fire, but I thought they had some flashes. LB's were just way to soft.

Imagine thinking a team forfeited a game when it was cancelled due to weather.
Imagine being over the age of 18 and not being able to spell simple words like Bears or clinic.
Imagine bragging about anything that happened in a pre-season game.
Imagine me not having anything better to do and actually responding to bot posts like they are from a real person.

Did ya re-watch the game yet its only 3 quarters

Spoiler alert ⚠️ ⚠️ 📢 🚨 ⚠️ 📢 🚨 bears won and it only took 3 quarters with a 3rd string qb

Ur welcome I saved u like a hour or so sorry u didn't get it on your 1st watch buddy

I’m still thinking we are scary thin at RB and LB. Harris is like Clowney. Cant stay on the field. Those positions have been neglected too long IMO.

A few plays in now and Kenyon Green is moving really well. Fisher looks solid as well. They are handling business on that left side. Juice looks nice also. Looks like they have a guy listed as a guard playing RT Nick Broeker and he looks good as well. Kendrick Green not looking too shabby at RG either. Not sure if this is due to the level of competition they are facing but they look good. Mills being decisive with the ball is helping a lot too.
The positive from last years’ shambles of injuries is an extremely deep OL group. I’m assuming Kenyon and Juice are starters at LG and C? I get why they played but very few other starters got on the field. Kendrick was looking pretty good last year before injuries too.

Davis Mills is not a good QB, even as a backup, he had a good game and if the Texans are able to levy a mid-round pick from that then they should roll with Keenum who offers more holding the iPad on the sidelines to Stroud and understands the O inside out if he has to throw a few snaps. If you are finding out how good your backup QB is over a stretch of games our season will be sunk anyway.

Disagree. Considering his injury status, he exceeded my expectations and has firmly planted himself into the conversation to make this team. Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t going to touch Mixon, and probably not Pierce, although it’s not out of the realm of possibilities if Pierce doesn’t look good. And Dare seems to be a core St guy. So do they carry 4? They can likely hide the 6th rounder on the PS for now if they like Akers. My question is what does he offer on ST? If he doesn’t offer much there, he’s still a bit of a longshot, and would have to beat out Pierce for the #2 job.

There was more passes to RBs out of the backfield than I expected. Hopefully we'll see more of that in the regular season. If so, Cam may be higher on that list & Pierce further down.

The experts are saying the Bears will win 9 games & be in the WildCard hunt.

Only way I see that happening is if you have 9 games shortened to 3 quarters by lightning strikes & what not.
Do you think the baers play Rypien or Gayleb to cause the other team to be scurred of electricity from the clouds????

I'm thinking your pre-game shows are going to look more like this.

And if CJ gets hurt you are ok rolling out an elderly Case? And then who backs up Case when he goes down? Boyle? Someone off the street? No way Jose. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Now if some team is stupid and says I will give you a second…I’ll take my chances but that’s a pipe dream.
I thought Mills was very impressive.

Accurate and on time.

He showed off his skills when he's working behind a good OL.

I wasn’t able to watch the game, but have had heard that both the LB and DB depth might be a concern.

What are y’all’s thoughts? If so, any players that y’all are wanting to keep an eye out in preseason to potentially add to the roster?

I thought he was better, but impressive? He made some good throws at times, and did a great job escaping the rush and finding his man downfield on one play. Those are some growth signs to me…so mild arrow up.

But he also made a few boneheaded moves like passing instead of running..as Aikman pointed out. A few times, he was off on accuracy and at one point almost got Storonek decapitated. He was inconsistent and overall looks like a halfway decent backup to me. Took 4 years to get here, but I’m happy to see at least some progress. But let’s not get carried away. Mills is and will always be a journeyman, but guys carve out long careers in that role, and I suspect he’s that sort of guy.

I wonder if Howard makes his debut on Friday. It’s very unlikely Tunsil will be ready, and with no Howard as well…I seriously doubt we see CJ. Even with Howard at RT, with no LT, It’s not a risk I’d take against a damn good pass rush…assuming we see most of the Steelers starters to start the game.

We did beat the Steelers last year with 3 2nd string OL players and 1 3rd string... but I agree that it's way to early to tempt fate. I suppose they could run some max protect schemes if they really want to see CJ for a series.

Idk, you tell me, it was a joke.. you're the one making a deal about it.

I thought it was obvious, no Texans fan is advocating for Mills to start over Stroud, not after last season.
Well.... we DO play @ Jets.... so.... umm..... as a Texans fan... can we start him that game only? Please...

I wouldn't start Stroud/Tunsil/Mixon/Stingley/Hunter/WA/Al Shaair etc... on that turf, in that stadium.
I wouldn't either, but you know they're going to.

It amazes me it's 2024 and we still have fields like this.

May as well have fields with landmines and bear traps randomly laid about.
