What it Means to go without Shareece Wright
The Texans cornerback group is a mess and now with Wright planning to miss Sunday’s game, this is the 4th cornerback this season who will miss at least one game. Aaron Colvin (ankle) has been out since injuring his left ankle in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts while Kevin Johnson (concussion) and Kayvon Webster (quad) are both on the injured reserve.
Now, with Wright’s injury, the Texans will use their most experienced tandem with Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson at cornerback while Tyrann Mathieu and Justin Reid will take over the safety spots. That leaves veterans Johnson Bademosi and Mike Tyson to possibly fill in for defensive packages when the Jaguars want to put 3+ wide receivers on the field.
What Having Ryan Griffin Unavailable Means
The Texans most experienced tight end’s absence is a bigger blow than most will realize. Without Ryan Griffin on the field, the Texans will get more athletic, with rookies Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins receiving most of the snaps at the position, but the run game could be an even bigger issue now. The team will more than likely want to keep their tight ends inline to give them a chance to help out blocking in the run game but the bigger problem is that Thomas has been inconsistent run-blocking and Akins is not asked to do that blocking role.
In situations like this when the Texans have injuries at the tight end position, coach Bill O’Brien has used offensive lineman (tackle eligibles) to take over those spots to help pass protect and in the run game. That means Martinas Rankin or David Sharpe could be called on to help on Sunday at that spot.
What it Could Mean without Zach Fulton
The Texans have had nice returns with free agent offensive guards Senio Kelemete and Zach Fulton and the possibility of Fulton missing the game on Sunday is not optimal. Fulton has played every snap at right guard this season and has been solid in all facets of his game. Last week against the Buffalo Bills, it was clear Fulton’s ankle was not right as he gave up some pressures and couldn’t get the push he usually does at the line of scrimmage.
If Fulton misses on Sunday, expect Greg Mancz to be the right guard, the 6th different offensive line combination of the season for the team.
In a game where protecting Deshaun Watson is at a premium, no Fulton and the absence of Griffin does not come at the best time for the Texans.

One thing I can't agree with is that Ryan Griffin doesn't offer much in the role of a run blocker........and he has been responsible for Watson getting killed in too many plays that he wa supposedly pass blocking.
