I wouldn't mind seeing a package Sunday evening where JDC and Watt are the DE's with Cole and Mercilus rushing off the edge. McKinney and Cunningham in the middle. I think we'd put Clowney back in where he is most effective and comfortable and Cole's speed can contain the edge on his side.

We may be better off putting Clowney where Jj is playing, & put Jj where Joel Heath or Christian Covington plays.

I’ll be in the Coushatta Casino Resort suite on Sunday night. Free food and beer. Should be a good time. Just need a good game from the Texans.

JJ and the boys need to terrorize Alex. When he gets hit allot, he gets rattled and starts making mistakes. The defense needs to do the same thing to him they did to Mariota last week. And then Deshaun and his boys need to just unload on that KC defense like they did against those Titans. Their defenses are rated very close to each other so the Texans should be able to move the ball and score.
Go Texans!

We didn't do much to Mariota. He pulled a hammy running through our defense virtually untouched.

He simply isn't very accurate, which lead to the two interceptions before the half. Alex Smith doesn't have that issue (he also isn't nearly as fast as Mariota either).

The Chiefs have only turned the ball over once this season. Kareem Hunts' first carry. Other than that, they protect the ball.

They're much better defending the pass, especially in the red zone. Billy is going to have to be especially creative in the red area.

Well, they're 25th in passing defense (yds/gm) which shows you can pass the ball on them. However (like you say), they're tougher in the red zone. 10th in pts/game allowed with 19.2.....

Stat sample sizes this time of year are still evolving.... Probably a few more weeks away from leveling off....

True... true.

Patriots 27
Eagles 20
Chargers 10
Redskins 20

I see what you're saying.

Since 2013, the Chiefs’ defense under Bob Sutton leads the NFL in lowest completion percentage—allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete just 57.3 percent of passes against them.

This group has been especially good this year—allowing a league-low of just 51.4 percent, and they’ve been challenged.

All four of the quarterbacks the Chiefs have faced—the Patriots’ Tom Brady, the Eagles’ Carson Wentz, the Chargers’ Philip Rivers and the Redskins’ Kirk Cousins, all rank in the Top 12 in the league in passing.

In games against the Chiefs, these guys have combined to throw four touchdowns and four interceptions, while averaging 254 yards per game and completing 51.4 percent.

In all other games, those four guys have combined to complete 68 percent of their passes for 293 yards per game with 25 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

All four are having good seasons, and all four struggled against this Chiefs’ defense.

Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans (OVER/UNDER 46)
Pick: Chiefs 23-22 (the under hits)

Point (EE): For the second-straight week we’re backing the under in a Chiefs primetime game. While the Chiefs seem to continue to surrender yards at a high rate (their 5.5 yards per play allowed are the 10th-highest in football), they are surrendering under 20 points a game for the fifth-straight year in the Sutton-Reid era. While the Texans did score a whopping 57 against the Titans last Sunday, Tennessee is the fifth-lowest graded defense in the league to this point, despite having played the Jaguars and a Seahawks team struggling up front. Thus, we think that Deshaun Watson (still the 27th-highest graded quarterback so far) and the Texans offense are being a bit overvalued with this number.

Counterpoint (GC): My first attempt at writing this counterpoint ended up making a stronger case for the under, which clearly says more about this game than it does my current level of brain function. Now that I have you locked in, it is worth noting that the Chiefs defense is allowing an 82.1 percent completion rate on play-action passes and the play-fake has been Deshaun Watson’s go to move; he’s run play-action on 30 percent of his dropbacks since taking over as the starter (most) and has a passer rating of 114.2 when doing so. The Chiefs offense remains potent with running back Kareem Hunt (93.4 grade – first among all skill position players) and Alex Smith channeling whatever is left of the Steve Young blood transfusion he got this summer. Tack on a meaningless Chiefs defensive touchdown to end the game and you have quite a case for the over.

My mind is full of concepts and formations that would exploit the hell out of this. Burn them ~10 times and you'll own them.

Damn....That's a big number.
I'd be more worried about the constant play action plays Smith will show our D.........opponents thus far have certainly not been heavy play action teams, and just from watching the games, our big yardage completion allowed seems pretty worrisome in general.

I suspect that their "concept" is sack us 5 times and intercept us 5 times.........after secretly tying DW's shoe laces together and putting bubble gum on the laces of the football...............so they will not have to worry about us owning them. :D

I love DW4, I think our future is pretty bright because of him.

However, I think k we should prepare ourselves for multiple turnovers, INTs, fumbles, etc... it's going to be a learning experience that will springboard a crazy run of wins the remainder of the season.
